Adon Video Discussion (Updated: 12-08-10)

Im a hands on learner. reading about it doesnt help me much. i gotta see it be done lol

if anyone can upload a video with the inputs for OS j. HK, that would help me, and maybe a few others, a lot.

I’ve tried to learn it in training mode, but i just dont know how to set up the situation where i can practice it easily

set the computer to adon, have him run the j.HK option select. You then are trying your options, backdash, no block, block, block and mash out…etc. that prolly the best way.

~style~

i understand that part, its just having adon DO the OS. Like…at what height should I do doing the j. Hk. Like is it just a normal j. HK and i just do the DP motion when its blocked?

you do the HK right before he lands, and do the DP basically as he’s landing, not while he’s already landed/HK already hits them.

EDIT: It’s the same as Ryu’s OS j.RH DP except its adon and your nuetral jumping

you don’t have to be neutral jumping

Arnt you supposed to buffer the RJ before you land pretty much right after you do the j.HK?

yeah you don’t have to be NJ’ing, but i figured since he was using HK as the example that he was referring to the NJ HK/RJ OS that everyone saw at EVO…and yeah, you would pretty much do J.:hk:(do the HK right before he touches the ground):dp::hk:
you wanna press the HK for the RJ as soon as Adon would touch the ground…a good way to practice is set the dummy to backdash, then try the set up. If it works and the RJ comes out after the backdash, then set it to block. If the HK gets blocked and the RJ does not come out, you know your doing it correctly

You hit the RH and buffer the RJ before the RH (a sliver of a second) hits them as they are standing up. The reason for this timing is because you safe jump it. yanamean?

jump~rh(TK LK RJ)…

1-Opponent blocks, proceed with blockstring of whatever the fuck.
2-Opponent doesnt block, proceed with a combo.
3-opponent does something other than 1 & 2 and eat a DP (most of the time).

There is a whole other layer to this option select which is more advance and hopefully I can shed light on very soon. Don’t hate me

Ohhhh, wow, I never thought of just buffering DP THEN hitting RH -_- I was treating it like Ryu’s OS where you press RH, then the motion, then the punch (or in this case, the kick)

By hitting RH, buffering before the RH hit i meant you hit j.RH and before the j.rh hits you buffer TK LK RJ… Which is exactly the UMESHORYU OS except instead of hitting fierce punch you hit light kick(subject to change)

TK light kick RJ? TK as in Tiger Knee? 0_o

yeah I was using negative edge at first by doing j.hk f/fd/f then releasing the HK then realized its the same if I just jump and buffer the input with the J.HK and I started to see better results. So that also the way I do it.

Some things I’ve been thinking about is if I should start always using this OS for every jump in. I’ve been mixing things up vs some characters by throwing out the hk earlier so it would whiff and force the option select to happen but its has been spotty at best because of the timing of the input. Sometimes it just wont come out. I’ve also had a few opponents who would just crouch block and since the attack whiffs the OS would kick in leaving me open on the RJ. So I’ve been using it sparingly at the moment. My general Adon game is based around using the frame advantages of his IAJK and JK to force my opponent to react then I’m just making the correct reads. I really need to find a reliable way to force this OS into my normal game plan.

As I watch the gamerbee v. mike ross for the umpteenth time I’m noticing that even if Mike had just blocked Gamerbees option select Jumpin the j.hk would never have landed. It only worked because Mike kept trying use his wakeup options. I’m doing lab work right now vs shotos and you basically only have EX RJ that can beat SRK. so you have an extremely tight window on the safejump.

There seems to be a layer under this that is beyond my current Adon understand (as Kelso says) but I definitely find this interesting. I’ll be labbing this for the next few day to get to the depth of this OS. There has to be more to this than whats on the surface. It just seems too dangerous to use in regular play right now. I wish Gamerbee used these forums

I would never even try this OS on shoto’s way too risky especially online. But against most of the cast it is a really good move sooo many people get hit by it.

Just though isnt there an adon OS thread we need some vids on here lol.

I wanted to post it here first. Something I’ve been wanting to do and that I’ve been working onfor a while is being finalized.

Tune in to our Welcome to Option-Select.com Mixup Mondays stream this coming Monday because we might have a surprise in store for everyone. If you’ve been keeping tabs on what the site is doing you’ll like what comes next.

Also, you’ll be able to watch me scrub with my Adon lol since there hasn’t been any new videos released in a while I hope you all are making the Jaguar proud in the shadows

To be continued…

very awesome. i saw the hakan one on the stream last night. i lol’d at his overhead. cant wait to see both! hopefully, i wont learn anything new from the adon one. id be pissed if i did lol. im sure they’ll be good.

did you play on the stream? if so, were your matches recorded? couldn’t see the whole thing

I did briefly, towards the end of the night. I think I only played a 3 out of 5 against Sighrax’s Cammy. I’ll post the videos up soon.

I was too busy playing magic :stuck_out_tongue:

the tutorial will be out very soon and I hope everyone learns a thing or two from it. In the process of making it I learned a lot.

just from that teaser alone, i learned a new Adon trick. I was wondering what the right distance for a cross up ex jaguar tooth was.

You can most definitely position anyone correctly for an EX jaguar tooth cross up after a single cr. MP from the corner. I caught 3 people with it tonight.

Im going to have to test that tonight.
