Throw?
welcome to Ono’s World.
but i’ll admit that 2 button throws and air blocking introduced in alpha are equally just as bad ideas that sprang from the crapcom think tank.
though i actually like P groove in CvS2 only because its not game changing in that game. thats what K groove is for8-)
K groove Ken completes my existence.
You made a topic that already exists, but a lot worse because you aren’t even asking for help, just complaining.
Throws are cheap.
Damn you’re right! First Wicked Bob and then ChunLi-Hax. Who’s next? Bizarro Dander?
Wake up parry: Throw. If the parrying is not completely random (i.e. consistently high parry), combo w/ attacks of opposite direction as their parry.
Wake OS crouch tech: walk up, down parry, SARKAY X 2
The ultimate combination that is wake up OS forward parry + throw: If you’re playing a character with a decent walk speed (e.g. not Makoto), walk into grab range as they’re walking up, walk out (or back dash), and whiff punish the grab (cr. forward into shippu etc, you have approx 20 frames for most characters if I’m not mistaken). Be sure to realize in some situations, you don’t have time to walk in and then walk out, in this case, you have to be content with an out-of-grab-range-attack of the opposite direction as their parry. Or you can dumb down your gameplay to match their style by using multi-hit SRK, tatsu etc (multi-hit normals are typically too slow & will get grabbed out of).
Just keep doing the same counter until they stop, then you can mix it up. If they decide they will continue to not block (continue to parry or switch to srk etc), it’s a sign that you need to find a new opponent.
It might feel uncomfortable to play low level opponents as you have to do a lot more than they do. You will need awareness, precise spacing and timing, execution, quick thinking, patience, and also consideration of the opponent’s intelligence and poor execution (you may be doing the right thing to counter their intended next move, but they screwed up their execution & some move that counters your move came out). Third Strike requires all of these qualities at the lowest level of play, which is why it deters new players and gets a less than favorable reputation. Combine these with layer infinity yomi build into the game, you get a game made for people who harnesses what appears to be chaos to outsiders. Of course, it doesn’t help new players that match videos of third strike are high level (13+ years, forged by fire, only MvC2, ST, and few others are on this level of gameplay etc etc), which makes it hard to mimic these high level styles at low level gameplay (as low level mistake punishes are not instantly intuitive and not detailed in match videos).
BTW SRK is slowing down to a crawl.
What’s really to gain from it, though? That’s like saying you’re hot shit because you decided to claim an abandoned wheelbarrow in the woods, only you’re probably better off with that because now you have a wheelbarrow at least.
Same thing that you gain from spamming Renic with Alex vs Chun tip requests.
Wouldn’t it be Dandruff?
