I’d been thinking about Who Framed Roger Rabbit? rather recently too, though for some reason his name didn’t immediately bring that or anything else to mind. I wasn’t aware that he had Parkinson’s (considering I don’t follow any celebrity). That’s unfortunate.

It makes me wonder how Michael J. Fox’s health is doing even though he’s a younger guy…

Regardless, may Hoskins rest in peace.

I saw the news today about his passing today, too.

What struck me was, "Who the hell dies today of pneumonia?"
It’s bad enough that he was my Dad’s age – also 71 this year and a BIG reminder of mortality, too – but dying of pneumonia…?

Then I got patiently reminded in print that Hoskins had been sick for the past couple of years but plenty of people live with Parkinson’s Michael J. Fox being another famous example.

I dunno… this death just seemed to come so unexpectedly and so shockingly.

I didn’t remember SMB and frankly don’t care about the idiocy expressed over one bad film. Hoskins was the BEST PART of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” and a great comic foil to Dustin Hoffman in “Hook.” Those are the roles I’ll remember him for on top of him being a seemingly good fellow in real life.

It’s not just nostalgia, this is a legit good movie. I love williams but he was the worst part of the film despite being the star. I’d have watched a whole film of nothing but Smee and Hook.

What makes the role he did in roger rabbit all the more memorable was how well he interacted with cartoon characters… And on top of that the ability to have BOTH Disney and WB characters in the same movie… Doubt such a movie will ever be made again… Just wish they had Roger Rabbit be more out there in the parks. Onlu pops out during easter…

I’m just curious now. I vaguely remember hearing that he was he better health than he had been for a while just a couple of years ago, but considering he’s basically the (celebrity) face of Parkinson’s…yeah.

Oh, I’m aware that he died of pneumonia, given that’s been clearly stated in all the reports about this unfortunate (if inevitable) event. I was merely stating that I was unaware that he had Parkinson’s at all.

For the record, I was also unaware that he was British, but I didn’t want to put that in the same sentence since I said “that’s unfortunate” at the end of it and I didn’t want to seem like it was his being stealth-British that was unfortunate.
