This tournament sounds like it’s going to be really big with all the side shit going on and the pre-tourney party; although I’m still having trouble understanding how a tournament like this is going to begin and finish in one day. :\ Unless you guys have a clusterfuck of setups or a time machine, I remain skeptic.
Anyway I’m super hyped regardless. Anyone know any decent as well as decent-priced hotels near this place?
@super-yan :we plan on having a cluster fuck amount of setups, and i wish i had a time machine
lol this even will be the most professional event you ever attended in your life im hoping. I
myself have run tournaments every weekend for almost 2 years now and im positive that
this tournament will finish in one day. UNLESSS somehow instead of hundreds of people
over thousand people attend you would have to understand thats out of my control :P.
@shoo : im curious to know exactly what your definition of a major and regional events are. An
event with 5000+ dollars with the intent to make the pot larger as more people attend is HUGE
and ensures hundreds of competitors with professional players traveling to this thing. No
offense but i think this will be one of the biggest tournaments so far in the history of each
of these games so far, and definitely the biggest tournament ever for Tekken6 with MadCATZ,
namco and bandai supporting us.
@Pherai: SIT tight my friend im getting confirmation with the HAX facility and they are hooking up us with HUGE discounts on hotels in the surrounding area rumored prices will be around 99 bucks a night… SUPER CHEAP … just wait for the posts
regionals and majors tend to be more than one day with about 5+ games
majors might be 3 days with 1 day of just finals
regionals are usually 2 days like NCR, WCW, CR, etc
i wasnt saying this is a small mom and pop tourney, cuz obviously big money is on the line.
there have been other tourneys that werent regionals or majors but were still big
like cicada’s house tourney, SBO quals at denjin, any AI ranbat so on and so forth
He just means that this tournament can finish on schedule, which I assume is what you guys intend right??? Major, regional, minor, its all semantics. I think in the end people will be happier with 1 day tournament.
@Pherai : ofcourse we intend on finishing on time which means one day, and i just wanted to make sure the tourney was not misinterpreted to be something along the lines of unprofessional.
and just for a little insight on my opinion of the definitions for local, regional, national, and major tournaments here they are.
Local Tournaments - A tournament hosted where attendees are only from surrounding sittings within driving distance normally 15-45 minutes.
Regional Tournament - A tournament hosted where attendees in addition to the locals are from outlying cities and are traveling hours to attend the tournament and or anywhere between 60-80 people show up
National tournament - A tournament hosted where attendees including the locals
are competitors that traveled from out of state mainly from an opposite cost
attend and the attendence is 100+
Major Tournament - A tournament hosted where Competitors traveled from all
over the world to compete amongst hundreds of players for large cash prizes.
Naturally i hope AGLA brings to you guys a major tournament
1 day is cool if you can do it. I’m just saying I don’t know how you guys can do it. Then again I’ve never run tournaments before, at least not for fighting games. I’m not trying to be rude assuming you guys are incompetent fuck-ups or something… I’m just saying I’ve had bad experiences with poorly-ran tournaments. :x
I’m seriously hyped about this though and so are the people coming with me. I think.
Also Jon you have to help me convince Rom to come first, then we’ll discuss the rationing of Rom-time.
Ahaha… I still play Smash once in a while. Dodges barrage of random objects. Don’t hate me for enjoying the games I play, though. I have fun. No need to be, uh… gamist. :’(
I started playing SFIV after West Coast Warzone, and started playing a new character today. c:
See you guys there! Go to the party on the 13th, too!
