You often get what you pay for. Going cheap often means getting a board that not what advertise or it can break down in a few months time.

Scroll up and read what alot of people have to say about ZD boards from AliExpress.
Also there is not many options for PS3/PS4/PC and Xbox 360.

Before we used to recommend PS3 boards for PC, but there games not that demand Xinput compliant controllers (Xinpint is a Microsoft API for Controller interface).

@Darksakul define what you mean by that. I have found the marvel(or mortal kombat if you want next gen support) pads the easiest to mod for Single console use. Almost everything is a through hole because the controller has microswitches.Dual mod is when it gets tricky because of how the machine handles inputs. I’d use brook, but no 360 support and that pricetag) With the marvel pads, you are only out $10(actually cheaper than ZD boards). Really, I’m passed the pcb stage and am just looking for where to buy buttons. Don’t want to settle for cheap ones because they will fail on me, but want to get the best possible price on new sanwa parts.

How are the PS360+ boards??? they are cheaper than Brook but not sure if they have issues.

PS360+ boards have issues and I’m honestly not sure if they are even still supported by the company.

The easiest solution for your needs is a Brook UFB. The cheapest solution would be padhacking used pads, but also the most time consuming and tool dependant.

Alternatively there’s always modders you can hire.

question: My local store has a ultrasf4 te2 stick new for half the price of the new sf5 te2+.
I dont care about asthetics only the function. Is there a huge difference in term of board/stick/buttons? Madcatz website couldnt help me. Thanks.

I think I spelled it out pretty well.

TE2+ has more aux functions but the PCBs tend to be less reliable. TE2 isn’t bad if you don’t mind not having a touchpad and L3 and R3 buttons.

What would be the best 360 pcb then? I own no Sony consoles and see no point to having a stick if I can’t use it with the one console I own.

Technically speaking… the pcb found in a Hori VX:SA stick.

But realistically speaking, the MadCatz 360 Fightpad pcb’s were pretty much the standard for modders before the PS360+ came along. They do take a fair bit of soldering, but it’s nothing difficult and there’s no black conductive compound to scrape off.

I have a 8 year old custom stick that work son PS3/PC/PS2. It’s a Cthulu and it’s old.

Exactly what options do I have to turn into a stick to work on PS4/PS3/PC?

I’ve been told to go the pad hack route instead of a custom board as that would require constant firmware updates.

Any help?

HFC (Hori Fighting Commander) pcb would be your best padhack.
PS3/PS4/PC (X-Input). PC:D-input if you leave the switch on PS3/4 mode.

So basically, I’m gonna end up spending $30+ on a discontinued fight pad just to get a pcb. No thanks. Sticking with marvel because it’s what I know and I’ve used it for a year with absolutely no issues(except for static, but I’m in Texas so that’s to be expected). Everybody says the pad is hard to work with, but I’m EXCLUSIVELY working on a 360 stick. I see no reason why I shouldn’t use it. The pros outweigh every con I see. (Pros: $10, throughholes for most soldering, 360 support, common ground. Cons: can’t dual mod. have to remove microswitches which is a pain.) As far as pcb life, it’s lasted me 1 year and a half(wasn’t actually in a fightstick until 1 year ago though). It has survived multiple static shocks, and my other one that I have in it’s original pad form still works great despite the abuse we’ve given it. So unless there is a concrete reason why I should shell out more money, I’m set with the pdp marvel/versus pad. Also, prime shipping.

HFC4 then? Is it difficult to padhack? I’ve never done such a thing. :S

HFC4 is PS3/PS4 only so it doesn’t have X-input natively on PC if that’s something your game requires.
The HFC is the newer ā€˜sega-saturn-style’ controller that has PS3/PS4/PC modes.

As far as difficulty it’s on the easy list. Read through http://www.slagcoin.com and practice soldering before breaking out the pcb. And Hot Glue your finish tested work, may not be pretty in the end but will help ensure your pcb hack keeps workings after years of play and stick drops.

@Master_Chibi if you really want to get creative, you can desolder the console switch and stick switch from the pcb, solder wires to them, and relocate them to the front or side of the fightstick.

I don’t understand what that means at all lol

You won’t really find genuine Sanwa parts for cheaper. Those are standard normal prices.

Can a good fighting game be made with C#?

I know you can technically make games where two people hit each other for a few minutes in Unity but can you make a complex fighter in it? Does garbage collection hinder performance?

idk if this is the right place to ask

i recently acquired a madcatz se for really cheap and was wondering what you guys would recommend for plugging up holes in plastic. I want to relocate the start/back button, fill the holes and that little indent on the side, but have no idea what to use as filler, bondo maybe?
