Oh, there is also the fact that gates have a ratio for round corners, the larger you make the OD at the top, the less chance they can fit into those corners easier.

Though I am not 100% sure that this is true, I have a theory that the angle that the switch is engaged with a straight, non-bell shaped actuator may put additional strain on the switch’s internal mechanism. Instead of being pushed in straight in and out, it is also pressured upwards towards the body of the joystick.

I’m new here, but I lurk quite frequently and have to say honestly the tech side of this fascinates me.
My modding experience is limited to a ps360 installation, a few pcb swaps and alot of button / stick replacement and maintenance. I plan on doing a kaimana led mod for my son later this year when finance permits.
What the hell is a supergun exactly? Looks awesome, and I’ve browsed the tread briefly. Is it support for multiple boards / platforms streamlined through one device? Or is my understanding off?
A Super gun is a device that adapts and allows play of an arcade motherboard/hardware on a home entertainment set up.
It usually includes a power source, an video adapter of some sort, either an audio amp or audio attenuation and some sort of controller port(s).
A typical Super gut will have a Jamma Harness, maybe a kick harness, either a voltage adapter or power cord, and two DB15 connectors form controllers (like the old NEO GEO consoles).
@Jasen Hicks a member here does sells supplies and housing for making your own super guns.
Alternatively, for arcade hardware where you can change out the game (like a game cart) from the main board would me consolized. The Arcade Board will be adapted or modified to act like a home game console.
This is popular with Capcom CPS2, Neo Geo MVS, Sammy Atomswave, Nintendo VS system, Nintendo Play Choice 10, Sega Titan, Sega Naomi, Naomi 2, The Sega/Namco/Nintendo Triforce system and other arcade hardware where the game can be changed out.
@Undamned modifies CPS2 boards to be consolized, with composite audio/video out, a laptop style power supply and built in USB ports so you can use your favorite PS3 or XBox 360 Arcade stick.
i’ve really been dying to ask this, and i really don’t want to sound like a jerk but; it seems technically very challenging and expensive to put a supergun together. how is a supergun any better than a rasberry pi or something that can just emulate the arcade software and handle arcade sticks off the getgo?
is it the same dealy as with people who prefer record players over mp3s because the music “sounds better”?
Yes it is expensive, to build a super gun, it cost even more to buy a pre-built supergun.
How is supergun better than Emulation?
That is a nice analogy, vinyl records to MP3, but the differences between emulation and real hardware is even more noticeable than vinyl and MP3s.
I say it this way, the only folks who got NES emulation right is Nintendo them selves with Virtual Console. Even the most demanding NES emulator out there BNES puts modern gaming rigs to their knees.
Sound reproduction is off, there visual tearing at the screen, color pallets can be off, game could not run at correct speed.
Also to mention MAME for all the good it does can not run most of its games the way the same should be ran.
Also Emulation is a grey area legally, emulators are fine, but having roms you downloaded are illegal,
Does anyone know if something like this has been done for dual mod PCBs?

If you buy the video converter off the shelf, the rest of building a supergun isn’t that technically challenging.
For super street fighter 2 turbo there are specific measurable differences between a CPS-2 set-up and everything else I’ve tested. Notably, there is a frame (or more) less lag on the arcade set-up.

Is anyone out there still selling compact size cases? NightWalker has been gone for a long time now, and Art hasn’t formally released the DIY mini case.
Need something small for travel, not about carrying around my TE every offline session.
Have you looked at magocyber’s thread in the Trading section?
Based on a couple posts I found here the levered microswitches on seimitsus actually do increase the range of diagonals, which sounds perfect.
Does anyone know which seimitsu is closest in engage distance to a jlf+kowal? Only thing I’m worried about is a lot of people saying that the ls-40 is too “jumpy” for fighters, but if it’s similar to what I’m using I don’t think I’ll have a problem with it.
Sorry if this is a lot of questions, it’s just that a ls-40 with s-plate shipped is $40

Have you considered doing a lever mod on the JLF??
LS-40 doesn’t jump at all. Plus, levers decrease the range required for diagonals, not increase

Has anyone attempted to take the top panel of a TE-S (without stripping off the artwork) and sandwiching a artwork print with a 1/32" plexi cover?
I think I’ve read before that apparently its not possible but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work… would also alleviate the problem of the plexi/art floating off the surface of the stick.
Depends on how thick the art is. If it’s thick enough it could make it impossible to snap your buttons into the panel. Of course, you could remedy this by using thinner plexi.

I don’t see a problem with that except maybe the screws being a little too short.

The plexi atm is as thin as it gets, so it might be worth a shot.
iNendoi, if this works looks like I won’t need to spend $60 extra for a replacement!!
I never had not striped off the default art, with the exception of the Chun Li TE-S, then what I did was traded top panels.
I never had that issue with Snap-ins. But then again, I never keep the stock art on any of my sticks.
I don’t see the standard 12mm long TE screws being too short.

It’s gonna be a pain in the ass to do all the swapping around (I have a Namco Hybrid TE-S and a SF4 TE) so I’ll let you guys know tomorrow if it works or not. (Since there doesn’t seem to be anyone who’s tried, I’ll document some pics too)
I’ll rage if it doesn’t work though cuz that’s a good hour just wasted

What is the “nut” that is inside the common balltops?
