Yeah it’s a straightforward mod.
People have differing opinions on wire, generally 22-26 gauge stranded core is most common. I use 24 stranded myself.
Well said, for someone I’m assuming has experience lol. I haven’t the faintest clue where to start with this, however. As the thread’s title implies, I am an absolute noobie.

hey !
i need to know if it’s possible to extend the q4raf cable with a simple usb cable.
So I’m a bit confused now. According to a few different mods that I’ve seen, there are 2 different areas to solder the Home button on the PS3 TE PCB:

And here

I have a R1 TE PCB, so I don’t know if that makes a difference…?
Same thing. Here’s something jdm posted in another thread for clarification:
There are 3 spots to hack ‘home’ from, more depending on your modding skill.
On a PS3 TE motherboard the easiest place is on the back:

I’ll confuse you more with a third picture.

The pictures you showed.
They are actually soldered on the same line.
If you follow where the blue circle starts, it leads to where the orange wire is.
Follow my picture though.
It is best spot for getting Home.
No need to remove the plastic cover.
All three pictures you see, the points to solder are all connected.

Wow, all three of us used my picture to answer.
Laugh.
Thanks very much for the quick responses guys!
Another area that confuses me is the connections for the USB. I’m using an Imp v1 so I’m unsure of where to connect the VCC on the PS3 TE PCB, since I can’t find a picture of the PS3 TE PCB that’s clearly labeled.
EDIT: Nevermind, I was able to troubleshoot it myself.
Next to where the joystick harness plugs in is a series of 5 holes. VCC is the only one that looks like a square, the other 4 look like circles.
Order is: VCC D- D+ GND GND
While you talk about the PS3 USB cable, doesn’t matter which ground wire I use ? Or do I have to pick a specific one ? I assume, I must use the 1st black wire, starting from the red
If you are not using the stock USB cable then you can use either GND point on the pcb.
If you are using the stock USB cable then use the black wire that is not covered in heatshrink.
Why doesn’t my headset work on my stock TE stick?
I have a 5.1 Chimaera razer headset and I can use it just fine on my xbox pad, but when I insert it into my TE stick it won’t have a headset next to my name in chats, party. Can’t talk with either.
Theyre the same point, just at different areas. Theres also an alt point in the back of the pcb

so I got some wood to make a bottom plate for a MAS case but it’s a little bit thick, not too much, but it sticks out from the bottom a little bit. Any suggestions?
