Sorry for the late response, I purchased this soldering iron, the tip won’t melt solder majority of the time. The shaft of the removable tip melts solder though. I was thinking maybe I should I buy a new better tip from Weller or something. Thanks

I suspect the tip isn’t attached properly.

OK, one more question.

Mad Catz SE modded with Seimitsu LS-32-01 and Seimistu PS-14-KN pushbuttons.

Apart from having to rotate the PCB on the stick to line up with the 5 pin connector, anything else I should know? Would it feel fine, weight etc? Would this be a good modded stick?

Sounds good to me. An all Seimitsu SE stick is a pretty good modded stick, way better than the stock parts. Just make sure to head to the “How to mod the SE” threadfor step by step instructions on how to mod it. Other than that, you should be good!

What’s the best way of getting art onto a custom stick I’m making that’s a dual stick and 36" x 12" big? Should I get plexi made (probably a lot of $$$) or can laminated or glossy art be done? Will it be sticky or fade from use? Stick is wood

I have a wico p360 and its making a crunching sound… does anyone know what causes that??

Do i need to replace the spring?

Ok so today I got a mayflash stick all the way from Canada.Because the guy offered free shipping to the UK the quality of the shipping was completely horrible and my stick arrived with the actual joystick inside snapped off and loose.

Doesn’t matter anyway because I am going to mod it. I have never done any stick modding before which is why I’m in this thread.Basically all I want to do is just put 6 Sanwa buttons and a Sanwa joystick inside it. I just want what’s in my TE, put in this stick.

So are these the things I should be buying?

Joystick:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390128775557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Also is there like a definitive guide to modding this stick?I’ve found several and so far and this seems to be the best one.Would you say that it is a good guide to follow?

Thanks for any help

Instead of Amazon and eBay you should try www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk to buy Sanwa parts. Besides that, you have the right idea: 8x OBSF-30 buttons and 1x JLF joystick.

Read through this: http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?169569-Modding-a-Mayflash-stick-(finished!-1-18-2009)
Also it’s important to know whether you have the Mayflash with the 2007 common ground PCB or 2009 non-common ground PCB.

How can I tell if it is a 2007 or 2009 PCB? Why is it important?

Since you bought the Mayflash stick recently, you most likely have the 2009 PCB. It should say which year it is printed on the PCB. How you wire the joystick and the order of the buttons depends on which PCB revision you have.

To the custom arcade builders that may or may not be here: I’m looking for an arcade stick that can play on 360 and ps3. I understand from the first post, 150 dollars is to be expected. However, I’m not looking for anything too shabby. I mean, Sanwa parts/mod-friendliness would be ideal but important thing is 360 + ps3 playability. No faceplate or fancy artwork neccessary.

Again, I’m just price checking. Don’t start building one and then send me a bill! :stuck_out_tongue: Guestimates are allowed.

p,s: I do already own a PS3 SE stick (which I modded) with full sanwa so I’m reasonably familiar with arcade sticks and part prices.

I’m a huge noob, but I’m not looking for mod advice. A little different question.

For christmas, I got a 360 CE stick. Today, for some reason, my RT and LT buttons now don’t work. This thing isn’t even 2 weeks old.

Will this fix itself (basically letting it sit). Do I have to open it up and fiddle around with something? Or do I have to invest in new buttons?

Thanks in advance for any help.

edit: Yes, I do know this is a mod thread (or at least I think). But this is a tech section, and I figured this was the best candidate out of the stickied threads. I’ll check if there’s a FAQ section for sticks and whatnot.

A custom Sanwa dual modded stick is probably going to start in the $200 ballpark, but it can easily go higher then that depending on bells and whistles. I guess you could maybe buy a dual modded SE for around the $120 ballpark. It just depends on how much the modder charges for their time.

I am buying a PS2 stick. I want to be able to use it on gamecube, ps3, and usb as well. If i go and buy some cheap converters off of amazon.com or some other random site, Will i encounter any problems? Do i need to buy an expensive one ?

At Griff get inpin converter from laugh at trading outlet post. Works for ps3 and pc. As for Gamecube get mayflash from play-asian site they sell for cheap. All those are lag free.

Thanks again meus

I decided to just buy a better soldering iron from Weller. Are there things I must do when I get my soldering iron or leave as is?

Don’t worry, you are posting in the right area. As for your problem, I am assuming you are talking about the Madcatz Fightstick Standard Edition (SE). The buttons are terrible, and are prone to breaking rather easily. The solution? Swap out the buttons that aren’t working. A guide can be found here. You can either swap out one of the other buttons that are working for the non-working one (the cheap route) or you can swap out the buttons for entirely new ones (the route that actually requires spending money). You can also try taking out the button and dissembling it or contacting Madcatz warranty hotline, but it would be better to buy new buttons. Sanwa/Seimitsu buttons are way better than the stock buttons and will last you a lot longer.

I don’t where to ask this…so I’ll ask it here…

Is it possible to dual mod(360 + PS3), with a non common ground 360 pad??

I imagine the wiring bit will be ugly…but can it be done?
