Here the six variations listed in Sanwa Catalog ('07~'08):
JLF-TP-8 is Base JLF.
JLF-TP-8Y is Base JLF with the TP-MA (PCB) rotated 90°.
JLF-TP-8T is Base JLF with JLF-P-1 (Flat Mounting Plate).
JLF-TP-8YT is Base JLF with the TP-MA (PCB) rotated 90° with JLF-P-1 (Flat Mounting Plate).
JLF-TP-8S is Base JLF with the TP-MA (PCB) rotated 90° with JLF-P-1S (S Mounting Plate).
JLF-TP-8Y-SK is Base JLF with the TP-MA (PCB) rotated 90° with JLF-CD (Shaft Cover).
Of course other variations can be done too:
JLF-TP-8-SK, JLF-TP-8T-SK, JLF-TP-8S-SK, JLF-TP-8YT-SK.
I’ll just add this for completeness, since it is JLF:
JLF-TM-8 can do; JLF-TM-8T, JLF-TM-8T-SK, JLF-TM-8S, JLF-TM-8S-SK.
You can use any of above.
Anything -TP is you use Sanwa JLF Wire Harness.
Anything -TM is you use .187" Quick Disconnect.

AWESOME info, thanks so much!
So despite all of the variations for different setups, as far as the actual stick goes, a JLF is a JLF? Phew, that’s a lot less confusing than what I thought it was haha.

I don’t have one yet, but I know that when I get one I would want to change the art on it. I know that doesn’t help but I didn’t know that it was different according to what Stick.
My “FightStick” is not being recognized by the Xbox 360 console. What should I do?
ive made sure everything is plugged in correctly. im just really hoping that my stick isnt broken …

Quick question that I feel like I should be able to figure out but it’s been way too long since my EE courses. I’m using the following power supply for my supergun: http://www.jammaboards.com/store/15a-arcade-switching-power-supply-110w/prod_251.html and it has no switch, it just turns on as soon as it’s plugged in. How can I throw a switch between the power cable and the PSU so that I can plug it in and just flip it on/off?

Start taking note of everything that does or doesn’t work. Buttons but not stick or visa versa? Lights? Test it on a computer. Test it on another Xbox.
“It don’t work” is too vague for anyone to help with. Details all of the symptoms in high detail and then we might be able to help.
If there isn’t a switch on the PSU itself, then, no. They’re made to have a switch between the wall outlet and that transformer piece that powers the monitor and PSU.
You could plug the PSU into a surge protector with a power switch.
98% of the time is the USB cord that is damage and not the PCB. Easy Fix.
Really a EE major can’t figure this out? Honestly I am shocked on this one. On a short extension cord place in the middle a On/Off switch. You cab fabricate one or buy a pre-made one.I don’t think i have to explain any further.
Any Power Strip would work as they poses a on/off switch.

I wasn’t an EE major
I was a Computer Engineering major that had to take a handful of EE classes some 5-7 years ago. My focus was more on embedded programming than anything EE related at all, and as such, I’m incredibly rusty on most of the stuff I learned in those courses.
But yeah, after some more research (and these responses) I realized that there’s no good/easy way of doing so with the PSU as it stands. Eh well. Thanks for the suggestions though! This wasn’t a huge part of the changes I wanted to make, just a nice addition if it was simple enough.
when i plug it into my xbox,my brothes xbox, and my laptop the ring around the dashboard button lights up for about 1 sec and then goes out. and stay out.
What are they all pluged into? Is anything else plugged as well TV, Monitor, Stereo? The Same Outlet, the same power strip?
If so you might be overloading that circuit
i tried unplugging everything from the xbox and still no dice. im going 2 try to unplug everything from the wall and then see what happens
Do that.
It is also possible that your Xbox 360 Power supply went out because of the overload. You might want to try a different outlet on a different circuit breaker as well.
i took it over 2 a friends house and still no luck. any other ideas.
Sounds like a usb problem…have a modder fix of you are not good with soldering…
I’m not entirely clear what you’re going for, but you may want to search for “power entry module” at your favorite electronics parts seller - example.
How do you put artwork under clear Sanwa buttons? I can’t remove the plunger for some reason.

I figured when I came here I’d find some stickies specifically for the questions I’m going to ask but I just couldn’t find them
So if anybody wouldn’t mind pointing things out for a newbie here it would be greatly.
I want to mod the artwork on my Super Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition S but almost all of the info I can find is for SE, Round 1 or Round 2 sticks. Mine appears to be quite a bit different than those however so I’m not sure what to do. If somebody has a link to a Type S how-to guide and a link to the Photoshop template I’d be super appreciative. I know that question is probably asked a lot but I’ve tried searching quite a few times and I’m apparently not searching for the correct thing in regards to the Type-S.
Also, what is the best dual mod on the market right now? I have a 360 Type S and I’d like to mod it to work with the ps3 as well. I’m not afraid of soldering or pulling things apart. I’ve seen the Teasy Strike I think but it’s been sold out for months. Thanks again!

Same template, just use the “full panel” TE template for the same as the TE-S.
You can also use the original or extended templates, they fit just the same. You will need a madcatz bezel if you plan to use the original size template.
If you want a DIY option, get the Toodles Kitty with TE-S harness, it all plugs in and plays. Or hire a local, reputable modder, those tend to work quite well, too.
So I’ve currently took my MadCatz Brawl Pad apart and am slightly confused. For the Shoulder Buttons as well as Start/Select currently have buttons in their place, do I have to unsolder those or is there a convenient spot to solder my wires to?

You can generally flip them over to the back and solder there. Be sure to solder to the signal side, not the ground side. I’d tell you which one is which, but I always just look at the traces and figure it out from there.
