Ya know, I just dont know. I’d imagine the easiest thing to do is load up any fighter, set the button mappings to defaults (so each button has a unique combination of actions), go to training mode, turn on input display, and see what happens for each button. Maybe ‘solo green’ is ‘X button + down’, maybe not, I dont know, but you can find out by trying it out.
I had forgotten about the addition solo buttons; my feedback above is mostly from guitar hero controllers and the MadCatz portable drum kit.
Right, plug it in and test it…duh… Internet done made me lazy. Good thing I have more than 1 controller because I already tore the first one apart and threw away the buttons. As for the xbox chip, would that be the little pcb underneath the xbox button or is it on the main pcb itself? Also what could the chip do or is that top secret info for the time being?
Edit: So I just realized that the controllers are for xbox and I only have a ps3 now. Now I have to lug this thing over to a friends, I hate looking stupid walking down the street with that guitar on my back.
this is probably going to go unnoticed, but i have to share this ultimate noob story. while swapping in sanwa buttons last night on a recently purchased hrap1 ver.b i carefully noted down which button went to which set of wires. when i was done i was kinda befuddled as to the same black color of wire for select and r1. and sure enough after i was done select and r1 wouldn’t work. after a good nights sleep and some thinking i decided to open the stick back up in the daytime only to realize black and dark purple sure look the same in a dimly lit room :looney:. of course select and r1 work now…
tldr version
step 1: curb your enthusiasm
step 2: turn on some damn lights
step 3: double check your wiring before putting anything back together
step 4: profit??
not the sexiest thing in the world but it gets the job done.
Anyone know if the boards in the Madcatz Fight Pads are common ground or not?

360 models are, and are considered the best pad for 360 to hack for sticks.
Cool, is there a way to tell which spots are the grounds? I havn’t opened it up yet, I like the one I have and am going to buy another one tomorrow.

This is why I have a plethora of lights (lamps, headmounted LED flashlight, etc.) that I use for when I need to work at night.
Not exactly a noob question (but i’ll post it here instead of making a new thread for a question)- TE turbo panel leds, what size am I looking for when replacing them, and does anyone know what brightness the stock ones are (for a gauge when looking at others). I have a feeling Toodles answered this for me more than a year ago, can’t remember in what thread though.
Thats fine Paper Tiger, you been here long enough that your like part of the family
I believe the LEDs on the TE turbo/guide area are called SMD LEDs. In particular the ones you want are 0603 SMD LEDs.
They are the same LEDs that light up your player designation on XBox 360, Wii remotes and PS3 Dual Shock controllers as well as the player light on the Xbox 360 console (ring of light)
So I’m planning to grab Art’s DIY stick, and I was wondering. on average, how much wire is required for wiring all the buttons to a PCB? I’m sure I will order more in case I mess up, but I just wanted a rough estimate on how much people tend to use when wiring their sticks. And should/do I need to get multi color wire?
Also any tips for keeping my wiring clean?

Did I ever tell you that you have an awesome forum name.
It all depends on if you are experienced or not. For myself, I keep around 2 rolls of wires, both color-coded so I know which one I’d like to use for ground for daisy-chaining, and the others for the other ordeals. IIRC 3 rolls from Radio Shack and other electronic stores are about like $10-15 USD.
As for the rolls themselves, I forget how much yardage there is in a roll. But 1 full roll should do plenty, especially for a new person learning.
As for keeping wiring clean, use zip-ties, anchors, and if you would like, the computer mesh cover sleeves to keep the wiring looking nice.
If you want to go fancier, use either 1/8 PVC or Copper tubing, like B15DSM’s Mario Stick.
Hope this helps

Thanks! I’ll check out my local Radio Shack.
I recently got this stupid problem of the USB cable becoming loose and disconnecting from Xbox while in gameplay. I cant seem to find a thread dedicated to just replacing the entire USB cable on a TE, anyone know if this is an easy job?
Its incredibly easy, as long as you’re comfortable with some light soldering.
There are four USB wires Black (Ground) White (Data -) Green (Data +) Red (VCC/5v) remove the old cable, route the new cable into the TE through the cable compartment, strip and solder the new wires.

It can be done with a barrier strip if he doesn’t want to solder.
And this question has been answered a ton of times, in details and with a youtube video. Please, next time make a quick search before asking.

[FONT=arial]Can’t decide on the Mad Catz TE Round 2 or the Hori Pro Stick V3 SA. This is my first stick and was wondering if anybody has had both , just after some feedback really?Probably looking to mod it to work on some retro consoles later on down the line, PC Engine, Snes, saturn etc so need to bear that in mind.
