Could someone possibly give me the wire-connections for the ribbon cable on a PS3 TE barrier strip?

Like an idiot I desoldered the ribbon cable from the Madcatz PCB and forgot to label them appropriately.

Couple O’ Quickies:

I want to do clear-translucent buttons for a mod i’m working out. I’m looking at 30mm Rollies from ponyboy. Do those already have the Sanwa micros in them? Or do i need to swap? How difficult is that? And these will work for button-image and later on LEDs… correct?

Also, for stick placement- is there a universal positioning for the harness plug on the stick itself? I ripped the stick out of an SE, going to use it temporarily for a test stick (proving to myself i can build a stick, ground up), and i realized i don’t know which way is ‘up.’ Also, i haven’t looked at the stick for clues, i’m at work wondering about this :stuck_out_tongue:

And one more: the JLF harnesses- Is that just a standard for hooking up sticks in general? Should i stock up if i’m doing multiple sticks (and planning on doing homemade builds in the future)? Is it just a good thing to have? or is there a better option?

And yes. I certainly do love the question marks.

Thanks guys

So I just recently did a quick mod to one of my sticks(changing out buttons, stick, etc.) I’m not planning on reusing the old parts anytime soon(some of them were malfunctioning) but not sure how best to get rid of them. Can I just toss them in the normal recycle or should I take them to a specialized electronic recycling center or similar?

Hey guys I just opened my TE stick to see if I could clean out the joystick (it wasn’t quite registering down properly). The good news is that I do think I may have helped the issue by cleaning it, but the bad news is that I think I made a mistake when I hastily put the gate/restrictor back together. Now, when I turn on the stick, only down works and all other directions do nothing. I’m assuming that I oriented it wrong when I put it back together but I just wanted to know if any of you guys could give me a more specific cause so that I’m not going through a bunch of trial and error.

This is a pic of how the pcb should be oriented correctly for the jlf. The only problem with what you say is that even if the orientation was wrong, that would only result in the wrong direction coming out, rather than just one like you say. I would say take off the gate and press each microswitch with your finger and see if you get response from them, if you get responses from them, that would mean that your gate is on wrong. If you still get nothing then it could be that your jlf pcb died somehow. I have had this problem with one of mine before. It was actually cracked, so i say check the pcb thoroughly.

Rollie translucent buttons are the bomb. You can easily replace the microswitch with sanwas but in my experience they feel pretty much they same so you dont really need to. also yes on images and leds are easy to place in them because you dont need to drill a hole in the button.

This is a joystick wiring guide that shows you which way is up down left or right depending on the orientation of the pcb.

The jlf harness is the standard for hooking up jlf and seimitsu sticks because they make hooking the joystick up to the controller pcb really simple. You should stock up on how many sanwa and seimitsu sticks you plan to get.

I’m waiting for how long it takes for someone to answer Bones90 correctly.
Laugh.

Hey man what does that mean?

I just did what blklightning suggested and tested each microswitch, and found that down is still the only one that worked! I was pretty gentle when taking this thing apart and am gonna be pissed if it’s actually damaged.

If you have any insight I would really appreciate it.

Nothing is wrong with your Joystick.
It is work.

You plugged in the Joystick Wire Harness upside-down.
Laugh.

Yeah thanks that was the problem. I knew it would be something dumb like that, but you at least saved me the trial and error of messing around with other components on the stick first.

hahahaha that is jdm for ya. He knows everything. At least it wasnt a cracked jlf pcb like mine was a while back

Guys, I just created a HUGE problem for myself, and I dont know how to fix it.

While I was working on the ps360 tri mod, it called for me to cut and separate the turbo and guide wire. Problem is ,I mistakenly cut the top part of the wire instead of the bottom. Now is there any way to fix this, or am I royally ******?

If your good with a soldering iron you can repair that… but if I were you i would just re-run new wire to those points. there are a couple of ways to get around that but all but one will require you to either cut the plastic connector or replace it… in fact… I may have a harness for you that will replace that. hit me up via pm

haha

"Ever close up your stick only to realize that only one direction works because the connector was on the stick backwards?"

wish I saw that post earlier… I’ve been guilty of doing that myself

Fantastic! A righteous ‘huzzah!’ to you, sir.

Sooo, yea, i’m pretty much sanwaing anything (i like the feel) i make for shits and giggles… or seimitsu upon request, so i’ll stock up on those harnesses.

And Ponyboy will be hearing from me w/in the next few weeks!

Thanks, and cheers!

I don’t mean to nag or anything…but please? It’s kinda urgent since it’s what’s possibly causing my PS360 to not work right now.

not a question about sticks or anything like that, but about my wireless router for anyone who is knowledgeable about pcs and that sort of thing.

i have my xbox connected to live via way of a wireless adaptor (with the router in the room directly below the one the xbox is in) and lately the connection has been HORRIBLE. tried playing some games online and it was a lagfest, sometimes i cant even get the marketplace up i have to reboot the router to access it, and all the downloads are very very slow as well. ive never had any probs with it until about a week ago, and yet the download speeds on my laptop and other PCs is as lightning quick as it always was.

the connection status has been showing as only 2 bars lately and (as im typing this, just 1). i dont understand how it could be fine for 2 years and all of a sudden its gotten real bad, even though everything else connected to the router works fine. is there anything i can do to fix this? moving the router nearer or using a wired connection is not an option either :frowning:

what exact brand, size, type, etc. is needed as far as the screwdriver used to unscrew the top of a sfIV round 2 TE stick? like i need a website to order from.

i’m not tryna make 32434 trips to the store to cop shit that doesn’t work then take it all the way back home only to discover that it doesn’t work and i’ve wasted time and money, yes i’m mad. :bluu:

It’s a #3 metric hex/allen wrench. I think the #3 means 3mm but Im not certain on that.
