Block and punish.
Right after you block his blanka ball, either do the wheel kick or dash once and CoD. Depending on the situation you can either punish it with an ultra, or cross him up. All depends on the Blanka player’s playstyle though.
Just pay attention to playstyle. If they spam long reach normals FA. If they ball too much just nail them with an ultra late in the round. Not much Blanka can really do aside from turtling the round away if you are familiar with his attacks.
Just had a losing streak (not that much though around 4-5) against a decent blanka… I dont know maybe its an off day for me but I just failed to react to his shenanigans and I think I lost patience (he won a match by running the timer out LOL) quite easily, especially on my wakeup when I should’ve blocked instead of roll. Only near the end I managed to use all my tools properly but i still lost but it could go both ways. Then I stopped playing because I was thinking about how much money i have left haha.
It’s a very hard match-up until you first can get many of Abel’s difficult links and set-ups down (execution), and second the match-up.
Some say he has the advantage (6-4 in Abel’s favor), though others argue otherwise.
I would say this match up is 5-5 if the blanka isnt retarded.

A cheesy Blanka sent me to the loser’s bracket at Northwest Majors because I wasn’t sure what to do to punish besides ultra.

Online it’s probably 5-5, but honestly i think its 6.5-3.5 in Abel’s favor
All Abel has to do is walk towards blanka… there is nothing blanka can do about that, everything he does gets severely punished by Abel.
Then once Blanka is in the corner its pretty tough, but even then if Abel gets a life lead he can just sit on it without much threat from Blanka.
Learning how to punish blocked balls with dash --> fwd.mk = death for blanka…
The only way for Blanka to do damage is if Abel makes alot of mistakes, and that wont happen vs a good player.

If you can prevent Blanka from doing anymore balls, that severely limits his options.
Truth. What can Blanka do against walking forward?
jump? cr.MK
ball? block and dash (F+MK if I was standing)
rainbow roll? focus
slide? might hit if the Abel doesn’t block a lot and as he should
He’s forced to back up. If Abel gets one F+MK, the only way for blanka to get out is a normal throw or a roll… Electricity cant beat pokes. And once you’re in the corner, Abel can punish up ball or horizontal ball on HIT.
Sometimes I have the feeling that people know that I suck at dealing with Blanka, because most counter pick him against me when I play with Abel.
I can punish his ball with ultra just fine, and I’m actually patient. You always have to be patient with Abel to win, I believe. He’s good therapy. XD
What I fail in is to do the Fwd+MK against balls when I don’t have Ultra. But I have only myself to blame, as I don’t use it often in the matches because I haven’t learned to do it properly. I’m not really good at doing combos. My only hope is to train, I guess.
