tried that same setup against rose and it works wonders against her reversal ex soul spiral.
If rose is in the corner, this set up will also counter his back dash!

Vs Cody i suggest just abusing the hell out of U1 OS off anything you can fit the buffer in. Shuts down all his options.
It’s difficult for me to time it right consistently, his backdash sometimes recovers fast enough to block souless 
Depends on the setup your doing i guess just tighten up on them in training mode and your golden.
Only found out other day if you lk roll a DP EG: FS, Backdash, lk roll, lk roll you get a full jump in punish. Always assumed you did not have time until a mate mentioned it…
what exactly are the applications for meaty cr.lp, step kick OS? Does it beat backdash and if, doesnt it hit the opponent airborn? If like the sweet, if cancelled into hk roll followed by neutral jump mk, its a very easy 3 frame safejump

Close light punch, as a normal in general, more of less gets in the way…
negative on block and even worse, sometimes it whiffs on crouches
let’s avoid this button if possible.
the Os would be better if it could instead lead to a cl lk in a blocked scenario.
we’d at least net a better chance at follow up pressure.
so let’s change the os to the following:
Meaty Jab ~ Hcb + lk+mp+hp.
Jab whiffs = hcb mp+hp: ex TT
Jab connects = lk chain

So I did I Abel mirror against Strider 801 today and it was a good and bad experience. Good because I got to see a really polished Abel and bad because it made me realize how many holes I have in my game mainly in the option select department. Strider OS my back dash with f.mk every time and got a COD combo every single time. I use a few option selects with Ken and ofcouse I do crouch techs but playing Strider today just made me realize how much of a disadvantage I’m at when playing against good players, and how much I am leaving on the table by not learning and using option selects regularly.
If you are getting option selected the whole time, then that means you were mashing backdash. It’s not about learning option selects if you are on the receiving end, you simply aren’t blocking, once you block the first or even 2nd hit, you can do something else so that you nullify the opponent’s option select.
So you play Ken, let me guess your defense sucks because you are used to hitting jab/short/shoryuken/backdash, but never block and so you try to play Abel the same way, nope you have to have defense.
I’ve been playing Abel for years, I hardly ever option select other than crouch tech and you can even react to backdashes if your opponent abuses it, don’t need option selects to read the opponent is doing nothing more than backdashing all day, I even ultra that shiz no OS included.

Abel threads are dead, dead! Where are all the players, where?!!? I’ve been practicing jabs into ex-cod and my index finger hurts! but it is so easy to do, was over thinking execution, but it is the simplest thing.
