Abel Moveset and Attributes

Just did some more investigating and I have bad news. No, it doesn’t work. Here’s what went wrong.

I recorded a jump-in HK, then jump back, then jump-in again. It seems that the all-block doesn’t work for playbacks or the neutral jump option.

So this time, I recorded a jump-in HK and then immediately blocked. I tried to do the (first hit) -> Ultra and it is blockable. So, so sad.

Thanks to everyone who tested it out for me though.

No, it’s not working…it just looked like it. Yes, I think that is exactly what’s happening, although visually it looked like the ultra connected off the first hit.

I was playin’ round tryin to get this AA into ultra and it really doesn’t seem to work, if u have got it to sum how tho it’s very, VERY situatuional!

I got too much experience with training modes. I can spot a failed combo procedure in one blink of an eye. :wgrin:

Anyway, when you want to try a combo, always record the combo and try to defend it. Best way to be sure there is no escape.

Yep. I was just trying to recreate/explain last night how the other guy could’ve gone wrong in testing…

Yeah, Bar Fights would be fun although I don’t think a lot of big names come from where I live (Atlanta).

Anyway, AA cr.HP (second hit) -> Ultra works perfectly, but the timing might be a little awkward. I’ve done it in online matches so it definitely has a place in Abel’s arsenal. Just keep practicing.

that just saying almost any attack can be done but can be blocked. lol the fact that the ultra start up is too long they will see the ultra and just block it. no reasons for them to try to press a button once the ultra comes off since its not a combo.

I’ve just been playin, tryin to get the timings for AA cr.fp right so was tryin to make short replies :stuck_out_tongue:

It seems like the important part to gettin’ the launch is gettin the point of the elbow on the 2nd hit to connect, I got sum differnt positioning down wich seem to effect the opps launch/fall angle and can effect the ultra timing.

Not alot in it tho as it’s not as strict as other timings with abel.

the AA c.hp doesn’t do a 2 hit combo, cuz their on the air…so its just actually a straight c.hp -_-!


so i just made a video cuz it’s getting annoying people saying it doesn’t work…
i always use c.hp as my AA, if their doing a jumping move it always trades and sends them to the air…
i only have the CoD or ultra if i have one to follow up for that…hopefully some more fun stuff can be done…

Yeh I know it doesn’t hit twice but the move still has the same animation and u need the part that would be the 2nd hit to land for it to launch.

I hate to do this to someone, but buddy if you’re using CHP as your Anti-Air as Abel, you will get squashed by 80% of the Jump-Ins in the game. Please don’t rely on it like it’s a Shoto CHP, it’s not that good and should really be used in combos or by itself while your opponent is on the ground. That reset you just showed is VERY situational and in your lifetime you might land it a few times. That’s a nice find, but not very practical in all situations.

For Instance, you would only do that if you had Ultra correct? What happens if you don’t have Ultra? How do you follow that Reset up? Plus you’re taking damage for something that I don’t really think is worth the trouble.

It can be done like the vid even if the cr.hp lands cleans (doesnt have to trade) but it isn’t a combo unless u get the launch and as you said DJRed it’s not gonna be used often.

you follow it up with a falling sky(no ultra). as noted, you can ultra when it trades/is clean.

I am just trying to figure out what jumpin will beat it clean most of the time.

Well you also have to hope and pray you’re psychic enough to land the move and it trades IN YOUR FAVOR. Some moves won’t leave them high up enough for you to try the Ultra and even then, you just took damage trying to maybe beat something for an Ultra that MIGHT land?

I’d rather wheel kick or standing jab. NEVER overlook the importance of standing jab.

I’ve found the timing to land the ultra pretty tricky for me during actual matches…i’m only like 25% accurate at the moment. You actually have to wait a beat or two before you do the input…

And yeah, i love wheel kick as AA…it’s so much more useful than Guile’s flash kick. Will have to take a closer look at the standing jab - i’m assuming you like it because it opens up a bunch of options for Abel?

Standing jab opens up a lot of options because it resets the opponent (but I think they land back to where they back flip, not a straight drop) and I like to dash forward, roll or dash forward, block. The second works great for people who get antsy off of a reset. Good players will try to guess what’s going to happen off of the reset. Bad players will either mash DP or sweep you. Either of which leaves Abel in great postition.

But it depends on the character you’re fighting. But I normally do wait a tic beore doing the Ultra.
