I believe it’s only normal throws that remove red life. Air throws let you keep it and I’m assuming comboable throws are the same.
No idea about command throws though.
I’m personally looking forward to this game becoming more rushdown instead of just safe poke chains and safer runaway.
I bought this the day it came out, and really enjoyed it the first few weeks. Combos were fun, there was a large cast of characters. I got really turned off by the whole “jabjabjab” mechanic, and wasn’t at a level of skill to pull of some good stuff, so I ended up selling it.
The talk of the patch started getting back into it. I remembered how much fun I had doing combos and just messing around with the characters in general. So I ended up getting it for Christmas (lol) along with a XBL card for 1600pts (DLC character time). So I actually got to sit down with the game, with improved execution and understanding, learn combos and actually play online.
I get salty, sure. It’s online. Everyone gets salty. But the important part, is that no matter how salty I get, I keep coming back for more.
All of the air throws are like in the 20% range of HP, might as well be just as bad as regular throws removing red health to an extent. It’s just mind boggling seeing the Guy buff having j.MP combo into air drop.
Uh, I also must mention that alot of the Tekken Characters are way more fun in this game than in Tekken. I never touch Nina in Tekken, but she is fun as hell here. Christie, Alisa & Marduk are fun as hell to use in this game too. I main Kaz in Tekken, and he is very very similar so that didn’t change much for me; but I really love with they did with the Tekken characters for the most part. Some of them look ridiculously silly (Paul & Heihachi) but it’s okay…lol.
Yeah, it’s interesting what characters I’ve been willing to try in this game that I hadn’t touched in Tekken. Nina for sure I barely ever played in Tekken, and I pretty much hated her… suddenly like her in this game a lot. I actually like Marduk as a character but hadn’t played him in Tekken; I absolutely love him in this game. Same with Alisa.
Hell, I barely played Law (though again I like the character in Tekken) but gawddamn is he fun in this game.
Bought the game day 1. I was immediatly sold and hooked. Think I’ve never had so much fun playing a game in a LONG time. Best €60 payment ever! I dropped AE for SFxT quite easily.
I just love the entire presentation of the game: the characters, tag & combo system, gems, meter usage,… So many things to check out. Even bought my first arcade stick just to get better at xT! There wasn’t/isn’t a single day that I didn’t learn something new. It’s like the game challenges you to continually step it up. Trying out tech or learning stuff in training mode never seemed to be a boring/troublesome occasion. It just keeps on going! ^^
It had its issues, but once the 1.05 patch came out (death of all glitches + auto block/tech assist gems), I think the game started its prime time. DLC characters were added, was much rejoice too.
What 2013 will bring? Hopefully the same amount of fun that I’ve had since March 2012. I’m pretty positive that the update will do SFxT good. Only time will tell!
I agree with everything you said Cody&Guy18. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Also, I’m really liking what all the SFxT monsters in here are saying, it’s been a rocky but damn good run
I think SfxT is fun. Huge punishes for jump ins, rolls, and even boost chains created a fighter that rewards ground game. It’s interesting how SfxT really emphasizes that fun to play =/= fun to watch. Hope v2013 improves both.
