A.R.K. - Arkansas Regional Knockouts! - Little Rock, AR - 04/03/10 - 8 Games!

Will do guys.

Hey Max,

Either you have to put people into the tournaments in Tonamento, or I’m just incredibly blind to the button to click on to add myself to any of the events.

Oh wow, you’re right. That’s stupid. Alright haha, I’ll add everyone later, I suppose but we’re not gonna be using the brackets from the program. It’ll be more of a way to just let people see that our event really won’t be that small and to try to encourage people to come.

Anyway, you coming out this Saturday to Imp’s place? I think that’s the plan.

Yeah, I just need to know what time we’re starting.

Probably around 1:00 again.

Bans on infinite combos?

For what game? If you’re talking about SF4, there are a few infinites in the game, I think mostly relating to Chun Li.

I have an adapter for PS2 controllers on there. I’m pretty sure the 360 version is closer to the AVS/MVS version though, so if at all possible we should go for that. If we go for the DC version though we wouldn’t have to track down multiple copies of the game, we could just burn them, I have an ISO for it.

I too have some PS2 controller adapters, though I believe the DC version has some framerate issues on some stages. I now the third part of Terry’s stage, when the train is moving, get’s a little choppy.

We’ll just go 360 if that gets voted in. We have enough 360s to support a tourney for it. We’d really only need 2 or 3 copies and everyone has a 360 stick.

I know they are not fighting games, but I will money match anybody in either Bubble Bobble or Galaga…high score, best 3 out of 5.

It’s only a one day tournament, man.

Chun’s infinites are highly situational, impractical, and difficult. Abel’s is much easier, but still not very practical, especially with damage scaling, considering it uses a whole crapload of jabs.

Eh, either way, I think I basically took the rules from other tournaments I’ve been to. Most of the infinites aren’t even that big of a deal and with damage scaling, you might as well reset them anyway. Anyway, if enough people have a strong opinion, we’ll re-consider our position. I doubt the rule being in play has much of an effect on anybody though.

Can yall bump up the SF4/Tekken6 entry fee to $10? $5’s awfully low for a regional tourney. If it is already then disregard this post.

So here’s our rationale on this: We don’t want to discourage anybody from coming so we have it at $5 (assuming a smaller tourney fee equals more people in the region coming). However, we realize that more people might be willing to travel from other regions with a larger tourney fee (more money in the pot = larger prizes). Are we willing to change the tourney fees? Yeah, but we have to see a lot of interest in raising the pot appropriately. If you can get people (that are willing to come) to agree with you on these changes, then for sure we’ll change it. As of now, you’re about the only who has a strong opinion on this.

We will definitely consider it many people want to raise it though. We know $5 tourney fee is low for out-of-towners and we’re definitely doing this for you guys just as much as for Arkansans.

You could shoot for the middle and make the fee for those two $7.50 and leave everything else at $5. Considering those two will probably be the biggest draw, outside of Smash, it will sweeten the deal for the out of towners while still not alienating folks on a budget. Of course this is all a moot point anyway since (redneck voice) we aint gonna let no damn Texans take our good, clean, righteous Arkansas money! YEEHAWW! (/redneck voice)

Just a thought.

Dem Texans already tryin to change our textbooks, now they tryin to take our fight moneyz?
Real talk though: We have one vote for $10 and one vote for $7.50. Others?

Hmmm… All this time I thought it was $10 for SF4. So $10 is fine with me.

I brought up the idea about raising the SF4 tourney to 10 once… Since it is the most popular game.
