somebody pointed out the assist they are using for fortune atm which may actually be one of the most godlike assists for overcoming cerebellas worst matchup (peacock)
you can set zoom (fortunes head move that slides about half screen) by pressing DF+HP on assist select. with head on it gives you her HP launcher move which is pretty damn crap, but once youve taken the head off then it becomes zoom instead, and always moves towards the opp. so now you basically have a projectile that you can use whenever the heck you like, and plus the enemy cant even hit the damn thing unless you call the assist! you can even hit it yourself when it is in recovery. use titan knuckle on it to send it spinning across the screen interrupting anything they are doing at that time.
although i havent tried it out online yet ( no gold atm) im very very excited to see what it can do in helping bella approach, since now the opp has to watch for the head even when fortune isnt on the field.
also the best followups ive found so far if the head actually hits are kanchou and cr.MP since it slides you in much closer. you can also follow with j.MP, Cr.LK-MK but the timing is a bit more strict depending on how far away they are at the time and which way the head sends them.
this is most likely gonna be the only assist i ever use for fortune now unless something better comes along.
I wonder if there are any other option-selectish assist inputs.
As for this one, Wouldn’t f+HP be better with the head on? It’s got pretty good range and wouldn’t launch them. [S]Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but it will always send the head away from Cerebella, so once they get between you and the head it won’t do anything[/S] Wow it autocorrects. The snap-out thing works on it too.
I played around with it a bit in some matches. The main problem I had was getting the assist set up properly, it’s a bit like hsien-ko’s in that you need to be switching your characters around before you get the best use out of the team. It isn’t as dominant as hsien-ko’s assist, but it also doesn’t cost meter so it’s probably still viable.
I’ll put up a video later of the matches, nothing amazing, but the head did save me from bionic car at one point.
For the Cerebella/Fortune pair in general, 360 dhc’d to fortune’s level 3 does amazing damage and you can combo after it in the corner.
i tried this one out and for some reason using forwards and HP doesnt actually produce zoom with the head off, you only get the regular butt move which is really really weird you can only do it holding down.
that wont be too much of a problem for me since i run fortune first and bella in the back. my fortune/bella bnb pretty much corner carries from anywhere on screen and then you get the damage scaling reset from DHCing into bella. as long as i make sure i take my head off before i tag fortune out ill be good. i plan on basically mashing assist the whole time really so then the head is always on the opp. should be frustrating to say the least.
plus you can DHC into bellas level 3 from her head on QCF+PP and QCB+KK and do a ton of damage from that too.
its funny how some things in the game you need to see them happen during a match and then you just think “oh yea, why didnt i think of that earlier” sort of moments.
you can start fortune in the back and then just call her as an assist, make it so that she gets hit by the opp when she comes out. since she is doing a heavy attack move, her head falls off, and fortune leaves the screen. you have now setup your annoying head assist move with (hopefully) very little lost. just make sure you dont get your point caught up in the opps attacks as well. could even give you an opening if they get carried away comboing the assist.
Cerebella/Peacock works pretty well. I normally run Peacock cannon for the long range projectile cover, close range lock down during pressure and combo-ability after instant air elbow drops for “safe” high/low mix-ups . Bella is a mix of Devil Horns vs rush down heavy teams and Cerecopter against Peacock and Parasoul teams. Devil Horn usually works really well as a wall and alpha counter when used properly, although it’s horizontal hitbox is ass (that’s where L Bang comes in). Cerecopter chips and lets Peacock charge an item for better pressure, plus sends the opponent full screen on hit and works really well with teleport mix-ups.
The DHC options are insane; probably the best dhc options in the game, imo. Any Diamond Dynamo or Ultimate Showstopper can dhc into Lenny for a full Peacock combo and doing the longer combos lead into another meter gained for a super at the end of it all. Peacock with 3 bar and Cerebella behind her gets a full combo off of any Argus Agony; the combo usually leads into another bar gained and another super. Bella with 2 bar also gains access to Titan Knuckle -> Argus Agony to make her knuckle a greater threat during neutral.
so ive been faffing around a bit more with bella and fortune in the lab and found some pretty interesting stuff. one of the things i reckon would be viable in a match and the other is kinda dependant on positioning on the stage but looks pretty damn swag when you pull it off.
first the more useful of the two i think.
basically when you are playing as bella, and have the head off with fortune sitting in the back, you can combo off of bellas F+HP (titan knuckle) by hitting your tag buttons to bring fortune in and immediately doing zoom cancelled into nom you then have plenty of time to run up and start a combo with fortune, obviously with oppertunities for resets etc etc etc. note that the head and opp must be near to the corner when you do this. normally you cannot combo from bellas titan knuckle.
i managed to get a combo that did 7000 damage for no meter cost whatsover. although im sure some of the better players could likely figure out something that does way more damage than that.
second thing is that if you DHC into bellas level 3 with fortune (head off) and havent used your OTG, you can actually hard tag back into fortune and then catch them using Nom as they come back to you. you may need to figure a combo starter that leaves the head in the right spot for you, plus use the L+M buttons to DHC so then the head doesnt move like it does when you DHC with H.
its pretty good to see since it happens so fast one second bella is on the stage and then by the time the opp bounces off the wall fortune is already there waiting for them.
with this one you need the bounce to go the full distance so the further from the corner you can be the better really.
edit : new combo from titan knuckle does 7700 damage for no meter. mwa ha ha ha haaaa
If you had Filia/Bella, and set Filia’s assist to c.hk, it seems like a good way to set up Merry-Go-Rilla. I was playinga round with teams for a minute, still don’t like em, but that seemed like a thing. If they try to counter attack, MGR is invincible, and c.hk pushes them into that distance. If it hits, you could, lp LnL into super, right?
I don’t think you can combo off raw sweeps at all unless they decide not to tech. That said, I tried that assist randomly a while back and it seemed useful.
If I’m correct, the hitbox will go white when they’re hit by it so you can test it in the current patch. I know you can combo off a sweep if you’re hitting them otg, but as far as I know that’s the only time.
Found an interesting bit of tech a while back that I have no use for, but it may help teams that don’t have great dhc options off of Ultimate Showstopper. Ultimate Showstopper DHC when Bella throws the opponent up into the air. If the DHC recovery is fast enough, the next character can OTG the opponent. This may not help any characters besides Fortune, Parasoul, Valentine (can she OTG from full US after whiffing Surgical Bypass?) and Painwheel (without a DHC into lvl 3) though, but it’s something.
