ADON’s
history

Street Fighter 1: Adon participated in the Street Fighter 1 tournament to
prove to the world that he was more than just a lesser version of Sagat [A
guess. He most likely participated because of Sagat, somehow, though].
However, when he fought Ryu, he got cocky and Ryu just took him out with a
single shoryuken, and he was eliminated from the tournament [Official].

Street Fighter Alpha 2: Adon is enraged. The fighting style of Muay Thai
has been humiliated as Ryu won the Street Fighter 1 tournament. However,
he’s not mad at Ryu. He’s mad at Sagat for losing to Ryu and being unable
to hold up the name of Mui Thai. He feels that Sagat no longer deserves
the title of Emperor, and goes out to defeat Sagat. When he finds Sagat,
Sagat himself is filled with rage at how Ryu defeated him, much more than
Adon. Adon challenges him, and Sagat was too enraged to fight well, so
Adon defeated him and became the new Emperor of Muay Thai. It wasn’t
without cost, though. Adon had to go to the hospital and stay there for
months due to his injuries from the battle. After that, he eventually gets
news however of a man named Akuma when Akuma killed one of Adon’s
challengers. Akuma wielded the same power that Ryu used to defeat
Sagat!!! Adon becomes determined to find Akuma and take this power for
himself [Official]. Capcom of USA, in tradition with their butchering of
what Satsu no Hadou is supposed to be, changed Adon’s SFA storylines to
indicate that Adon wants to beat Akuma to prove the power of Muay Thai, but
this is not really the case. Adon wants more power. Fortunately, his SFA3
ending translation wasn’t as butchered and has him declaring that he’s
seeking the power for himself.

Street Fighter Alpha 3: Adon spent SFA3 searching for Akuma. He spotted
him briefly, but didn’t get to fight him by the end of SFA3 [Conjecture
based off of in-game storyline].

Adon was Sagat’s student, but because he despised being in Sagat’s
shadow, he made sure that his style of Muay Thai was completely different
from Sagat’s. Even after that, though, people still paid more attention to
Sagat than him and thought of him only as a weaker version of Sagat,
despite his very different style, and this has caused deep resentment and
envy within Adon for his master.

Adon is very arrogant, and uses selective memory in his arguments,
even. He’s mad at Sagat for losing to Ryu during SF1 but neglects to
mention how he lost to Ryu during the first Street Fighter tournament, too

He was invited to join Shadaloo several times (Guess SFA1 took this into
account by depicting M. Bison inviting him to join in his ending, even if
the game itself was retconned out of the canon).

Akuma’s History

Street Fighter 1: He wasn’t in the actual game, but behind the scenes, he
was doing things. Akuma challenged, fought, and killed his brother,
Gouken, while Ryu was away at the first Street Fighter tournament.
Witnessing the battle was Gouken’s daughter, and by the end of the battle,
one of Gouken’s students, Ken, had arrived, and witnessed Akuma pulling off
the killing blow. Akuma, victorious, then leaves to go back to his island
of Gokuentou. [Official]

Street Fighter Alpha 2: Gouken’s student, Ryu, has tracked Akuma down, and
challenges Akuma as a fighter. Akuma, always looking for worthy foes,
tests Ryu’s mettle at his island, Gokuento. Akuma is very impressed by
Ryu’s skill, and tells Ryu about the Satsu no Hadou power within Ryu. He
wants that power to awaken within Ryu, and tells Ryu that once it does, Ryu
should seek Akuma out again so they could have a real match [Official].
Akuma then forcefully slams his fist into the ground, and the island of
Gokuentou sinks into the sea, with Ryu escaping just in time [Conjecture
from Ryu’s SFA2 ending].

One day, an old man named Gen found Akuma, and challenged him. Akuma
used the Shun Goku Satsu on Gen, but Gen somehow managed to survive it!
Gen then did his his Zan-ei on Akuma but Akuma survived. As the battle
goes on, Akuma realized that Gen was sick and the two set apart. Neither
one won the battle. Gen survived the Shungokusatsu because he emptied his
spirit, heart and mind (which makes him immune from the past sins and
dragged to hell aspect) [Official].

Street Fighter Alpha 3: Akuma spent SFA3 looking for a worthy challenger.
He found Gen, once again, by the end of SFA3. Gen really is persistent,
and wants to finally end things and have a match to the death. He tells
Akuma that Akuma won’t win, again (Gen considers Akuma the winner of the
last match because Akuma chose to ‘spare’ Gen by withdrawing when he saw
that Gen was sick). Capcom hasn’t stated who won the final battle, though
Gen’s ending shows that Gen won it, whereas Akuma’s ending just shows the
two meeting again, finally (course, Gen’s ending could also be interpreted
as him having KILLED Akuma, which obviously didn’t happen). After winning
the battle, Gen decided to spare Akuma and just give up, finally, on
finding an opponent worthy of a deathmatch. He states that Akuma was the
only one worthy of such a battle, but now that the battle was over, there
is no more reason for Gen to use his fighting style, any longer [Conjecture
based off in-game storyline].

Street Fighter 2: Akuma has heard about the Street Fighter 2 tournament.
However, he doesn’t sign up for it. When the final championship of the
match came with someone against the host of the tournament and leader of
Shadaloo, M. Bison (Capcom hasn’t stated who), Akuma decided to randomly
jump in and test just how powerful this M. Bison was. When Akuma
approached M. Bison, M. Bison was caught off guard. Akuma declared that
Bison was pathetic, because he had allowed himself to be consumed by his
own shadow, as opposed to Akuma, who had mastered his own fighting style
through sheer training alone. Akuma declares that the master of the fist
will always win over one possessed by his own shadow, and attacked M. Bison
[Akuma’s SF2 Revival ending]. I’m pretty positive Akuma was talking about
Psycho Power when he said that to Bison, because in Street Fighter Alpha 3,
Akuma calls Bison weak for not relying solely on his fists (and having to
rely on Psycho Power, instead). Since Psycho Power relies on negative
energy (there’s also the fact that Bison is the dark side of his own soul,
since Rose is the light half), that probably is what represents Bison being
consumed by his own shadow. As for when Akuma attacked Bison in SF2, it
also hasn’t been stated by Capcom whether this happened before whoever was
set to fight Bison fought him and won, or after, though in the game, it
happens before (in actuality though, I imagine it was probably after, since
that allows for everyone else’s SF2 endings to take place, and since Capcom
considers most SF2 characters resolved as shown by them not bringing most
SF2 characters over to SF3, well… their endings probably all took place,
then). At any rate, Akuma randomly jumped in (surprising the heck out of
M. Bison), then pulled off the Shun Goku Satsu on Bison which killed M.
Bison. Hmm. That wasn’t so tough [Official].

This is probably the time Ryu and Ken first met Akuma. According to a
Japanese gaming mook (which are typically really trustworthy, either
because Japanese magazines and books pay more attention to canon than US
ones or because they simply actually have access to the original creators
since they’re both… well, Japanese), Gouki visited Gouken back when Ryu
and Ken were still ‘hatchlings’. Gouki stated that he was the true heir to
Ansatsuken, then Gouken stated that Gouki corrupted his ‘Hadou no
Chikara.’ Young Ryu and Ken watched the fight, believing Gouken would win,
and the match ended with Gouken’s final blow, leaving Gouki sprawling on
the ground. Then Gouki said something about how they MUST come to blows
again ‘in this lifetime’. Gouken looks on, then said "When that man’s
power goes beyond mine, the great disaster you both (Ryu and Ken) must face
with your own power… the power which I will pass on to you… “Wa ga ken
no Subete o (All that is what my fist is), Hadou no Chikara o! (The power
of the Hadou!).” This is way before Gouki comes back to kill Gouken, by
the way.

Goutetsu, who invented the arts of Hado, Shoryu, Tatsumaki, and
Shungokusatsu, taught the Shun Goku Satsu (Instant Hell Murder) to both
Akuma and Gouken. Gouken, however, disliked killing and didn’t teach it to
Ken or Ryu, instead teaching them a toned down version of Ansatsuken.
Capcom of USA changed the storyline and stated that Goutetsu hid away the
secrets of the Shun Goku Satsu, but that’s not true.

Akuma uses satsu no hadou. It is unclear if Goutetsu used it or not,
though. Gouken, meanwhile, developed a completely different art from
Goutetsu and Akuma’s. While it looks similar, the method used to draw ki
is completely different. Capcom hasn’t stated how it’s different, though.

Ryu didn’t see Gouken battle his brother Akuma. Gouken’s daughter saw
it, but she disappeared after that. Gouken’s daughter has no official name
(though Ryu and Ken called her ‘Little Miss’). There are two official arts
of her, though they differ greatly from each other so it’s hard to tell
which one’s supposed to be correct. Ken also arrived near the end of the
battle and was able to witness it. The fact that Gouken had a daughter
seems to have been forgotten by Capcom and thus will probably never
resurface (the official arts of her come from ooooooold official sources
and you can’t find the fact that Gouken has a daughter except in really old
sources, too. Capcom probably didn’t even finalize what she is supposed to
look like, considering that the two official arts of her look completely
different from each other).

From AAC: This next info is extremely vague, but under Ken’s section
it mentions him being an eyewitness to Gouken and Gouki’s battle, and also
he sees a “young” one there too, and in parentheses it goes on to say roughly
"who obtained a reputation previously for the fighting school?" Kinda vague
like I said, but Capcom’s possibly still remembering Gouken’s long lost
daughter (AKA ‘Ojou-san’).

According to that mook, Gouki killed Goutetsu just as Goutetsu was
about to do a Messatsu Go Hadou, because from the text, he had cupped his
hands and countless flames were being formed. Goutetsu died with a smile
on his face, most likely because it was the greatest battle of his life (or
possibly because most teachers love to see their students surpass them).
Gouki took the beads off of Goutetsu and wore them for his own. This was
all witnessed by Gouken.

According to Roland, the mook also stated that Vega/M. Bison once
visited Gouken, looking for the heir of Ansatsuken. In the process, Gouken
was thrashed (but not killed, of course). Besides mooks being generally
very trustworthy, originally, back during the times of SF2 coming out,
Vega/M. Bison was the one that killed Gouken. This later got retroactively
changed to Akuma doing it (probably when Akuma was designed). Most likely,
Capcom decided that, instead of entirely retroactively deleting it, to edit
it into Vega/M. Bison just beating the heck out of Gouken, instead (From
Saiki, again).

Goutetsu was murdered 20 years before SSF2X, not the Zero/Alpha series.
Gouki’s mentioned to be around 48 in SSF2X, so he’s around 28 when he
kills Goutetsu.

What happens during the shungokusatsu is that they go to hell. The
demons in hell will attack the person even if they’re sin free or not.
They’re demons, they’ll go at anything. But with evil characters, their
past sins will also haunt on top of the demons attacking them for that
split second. Gen survives this because he empties his spirit, heart and
mind. “Onore wo mu ni suru”. “Mu” means emptiness, nothingness. One of the
reasons why Gouken has the kanji “Mu” on his back. It’s really not about
how strong the person is but how tuned and focused they are with their mind
and soul.

The user is in danger during the Shun Goku Satsu, too, if he isn't

prepared. Both the user and the target go to hell. Canonwise, Ryu and
Sakura have never done the Shun Goku Satsu.

Akuma doesn’t become Shin Akuma. Akuma IS Shin Akuma, except that he
holds back punches and uses only a small percent of his power. He does
this because he doesn’t want to unnecessarily kill anyone who he feels
aren’t out to kill him in the first place. Note that the Shin Akuma in
Capcom VS SNK 2 (besides that game not being canon), where Akuma becomes
Shin Akuma because he absorbs Orochi power or so, is a different type of
Shin Akuma. The Japanese character for Shin is different for him.

Gouken had the character “Mu” which means “nothing”, “naught” on his
back. Akuma has the character for “Heaven” on his back, but this can also
be interpreted as “Beyond human” which is most likely the correct
interpretation. According to some Japanese myths, the bearer of this
symbol is said to be immortal. Capcom of America used the literal
translation for it, “Ten”, for SFA3.

Akuma himself is a human being and NOT possessed by a demon. That was
something Capcom of USA made up (they changed LOTS of things for Akuma).
Akuma, however, has attained ‘Beyond human’ status because of his sheer
training and drive for power (to the point where he gives into things like
Satsu no Hadou). In the SF universe, one can achieve great abilities
beyond human (such as staying in deep sea or causing an island to collapse
with a punch) through sheer training and focus. I believe this is why some
people refer to him as a demon. He may or may not have become a demon,
himself, but I’m inclined to believe that he hasn’t, personally, and the
whole referal to him as a demon is mostly symbollic/metaphoric.

The Kanji letter “Ki” in Gouki`s name doesn’t actually mean “ghost” or
"demon". it means “Oni”. Oni in Japanese is the imaginary monster that
looks like a horned human. In Japan it is also believed that human or
humans spirit can turn to Oni when theyre extremely obsessed with hatred,
anger or vengeance.

Akuma may be evil by our moral standards (he killed his teacher and
brother), but he is not evil by his own ethical code. His code is the
harsh code of the absolute warrior. He had no qualms killing his teacher
and brother because he killed them in fair one-on-one combat. It didn’t
matter who they were; the field of battle does not distinguish between
friend or foe. And he only fights and kills those who call themselves
warriors and trains in fighting; he doesn’t go around killing defenseless
normal people.

Capcom stated that Bushin is opposed to Akuma because he disrupts the
flow of nature, whatever the heck that means. I guess the in-game showing
of this would be when Guy says to Akuma in SFA3, “For the sake of Bushin,
listen to reason!” Dunno what Akuma does that disrupts nature, but I
suppose blowing up entire islands and mountains would possibly do something
like that. Supposedly, according to Roland, it’s because in nature, things
never kill unless it is for survival. Most animals kill only either to
defend themselves or because they need to eat, for example. The only
things that kill for non-survival reasons are the more intelligent animals
(not just humans, contrary to what some misanthropists say. Dolphins will
randomly kill things and monkeys go to war, too!). Akuma, of course, goes
out of his way to find other warriors to challenge, and kill. Guy,
meanwhile, follows the path of Bushin, where he fights only to stop others
from being destructive.

He’s actually once saved a kid that wandered into his SFA3 cave and
almost fell a cliff. There’s also an official sketch of him apparently
selling/giving some fruit to a kid for some reason Oo Dunno what’s up
with the fruit art, but him saving the kid in his cave is an actual
official fact.

Akuma seeks to awaken Satsu no Hadou in Ryu at the end of SFA2, because
he sees Ryu’s potential and realizes that, powered by the killing intent,
Ryu will be a worthy opponent for him. For more and how this ends, see

Alex History

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Alex enters the Street Fighter 3
tournament to get revenge on Gill, whom injured his good friend, Tom. Tom
told him that it was a fair match that Gill had beaten him in, and thus,
Alex did not need to avenge him, but Alex would have none of it. Tom
decides to let Alex leave, telling Alex that it is Alex’s decision, and
that Alex should see the world, for himself. In the SF3 tournament, Alex
progresses up to become the champion. Alex defeats Gill to win the
championship, though he didn’t get the chance to kill Gill. However, when
he arrives back home, he is surprised when he sees that Tom has fully
recovered as Tom’s daughter, Patricia, welcomes him back. Alex is glad to
see everything is all right, and is now over his thoughts of revenge. Tom
notes that Alex now has matured, and has the face of a true man. Alex
declares his new journey. To face the greatest fighters in the world!

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: After battling opponents from all over the
world, Alex is in the process of learning/has learned the depth and
fearfulness of the fight. His fighting spirit burns strong and he cannot
suppress it. He wants to fight and get stronger, so he leaves Tom in
search of a formidable/powerful opponent [Official]. Alex meets Ryu, and
they have a match. Ryu wins this and encourages Alex to keep on fighting.
With the weight of vengeance off of Alexs back, he is now excited about
fighting and searches the world for Ryu and other challengers. He writes
to Tom and Patricia, telling them that he is determined to have a rematch
and that he can’t come home, because he must find Ryu, again [Alex’s SF3TS
ending]

Tom is a good friend of Alex’s late father, and like a father to Alex.
Tom is the one that trained Alex, and Alex attends his gym. Patricia is
Tom’s daughter and Alex cares deeply for both as family to him.

Hrm… well, despite how Patricia’s 14 years old, Patricia is apparently
in love with Alex (maybe a crush?). There’s official art of her in the
SF3 secret files flyer that has her kissing Alex near the lips (though Alex
seems to be taking it more as just a showing of general affection, despite
the look on Pat’s face), and another official art with Alex carrying Patricia
in his arms and the words saying (in English, too!), “I want you to realize
how I feel about you.” over Patricia’s head. Pedophilia once again wins.
And with a quote like “I want you to realize blah blah blah”, it’s not even
the cute kind of kiddie worship. It’s portrayed as actual romantic love.

Alex’s father was in the military, which is why Alex himself is quite
militaristic. Tom is a war veteran, too.

There seems to be something special about Alex that Gill can sense in
him. See Gill’s bio for more info. I heard also that this is because Alex
was also one of the candidates for rising up to become the next Messiah,
but I’d be really surprised now, since there’s no evidence and I imagine
Alex would have remembered something as big as that. In the American
version of SF3, Urien indicated that he knew Tom but that was a
mistranslation by Capcom USA. In the Japanese version, he actually says “I
have no memory of what you speak of!” when asked about it.

The event that Alex and Balrog/Bison (boxer) fought in shown in an
arcade flier for SF3 New Generation is called the Vale Tudo Eternal
Fighting (B.E.F). Balrog appeared in it 2 years ago and became the champ
both times. In this year’s tournament, Balrog beat Rike Bernardo, Camo
Riapardo and Kimaro (doubt it’s the same as Slammaster’s Kimaro) to advance
to the finals. Alex beat Jerald Golby in the semi-finals. The first round
against Alex, Bison completely dominated the fight. 1 min 20 seconds into
the second round, Bison landed 23 solid heavy punches into Alex. But Alex
countered with his own combo and KO’ed Bison. See arcadeflyers.com for the

It should indeed be noted that just because one is in a higher tier doesn’t mean they always win (unless you’re matching up Akuma against Dan or something, although I fail to see why Akuma would bother fighting at full power against Dan :P). Ken actually wins quite often against Ryu. Ryu just has the (as quoted by him) “Better win record” in their matches against each other.

Dee Jay is a strange case. You can’t rank someone who has never even interacted with anyone else so there’s nothing you can compare him with. At most we can make an educated guess that he’s somewhere below the storyline bigwigs (Below Ken or so) but above Sean.

Disclaimer: The list is actually Saiki’s, not mine. Maybe he knows something I don’t, or maybe he doesn’t and Dee Jay’s current placing in it is his personal opinion. It’s that “but in their own way” that I do not agree with. That’s all. I never said that I would bomb Udon, I never said they were sell-outs and I never said they didn’t care for the SF universe. I just don’t like where they’re headed. That is all.
