Hello! Brand new to the forums, but no where near brand new when it comes to fighting games. This, however, is irrelevant.
I have a couple fairly simple questions and if, for one reason or another, I am shown to have asked these questions in the wrong place or one too many times in combination with others, I apologize in advance.
Moving on!
I’m about to pick up a copy of SSFIV:AE for PC, and having previously come from playing the game on PS3 and 360, I would love to know how the current population of the game stacks up on PC in comparison to the other two platforms.
Are there enough people to keep the online re-playability fresh?
Of these people, will I be finding adequate competition? How do they stack up against those that play on the other platforms as far as higher-end players go? I can play a pretty mean Bison and the last time I played was on a copy of SSFIV (not AE,) on my brother’s PS3 and there were only a handful of people online at any given time. To be honest, all the while trying to avoid coming off as sounding obnoxious, they were awfully lacking as far as skill goes.
In short, what’s the PC community like?
obviously there will be more bad players than good players generally speaking, but my friends list is full of active good players that I do endless with often. there’s definitely enough good players to keep it interesting and competitive

There are a fair number of players, though for the most part you face a lot of the same population if you play at the same hours each time. There are some top players who play SF4 on the PC as well (most notable being Mike Ross)

Well, that’s how it is with every game, really. The last little bit is really good to hear.
Ross, eh? Just the kinda thing I wanted to hear. Any more notables you can think of?
I’m still crossing my fingers for cross-platform play someday. You’d think this would be happening already.
Is this adequate competition for you?
Everytime when I was online on PC, I was playing vs ppl on this skill lvl.
Whenever I face someone who is a beginner I usually leave and go on to the next lobby.
Same goes for PSN, can’t complain about competition. If you want to find strong players, you will find them on any plattform.

Edit: Mike Ross plays on PC as well? Gamertag Vermillion?

Impressive! I haven’t played seriously in months. Looks like I’ve got my work cut out for me. Appreciate the video, sir.
On a side note, Ibuki confuses me to the point of hysterics.
ya i’m sure that’s mike ross. i beat his sagat handily which made him switch over to his main. i didn’t win a single match after that
I find that there are alot of good players on PC, especially if you have good manners, and keep an open two way monologue, thus filling up your friends list. I also enjoy playing alot of the same players on ranked, while always seing players ive never seen before. And I always have someone to play on PC, so I would recommend getting a PC copy, I have mentioned this before, but being able to play Deadpool (Dan Mod) is awesome. Gl!

I know Fchamp has played on PC version I dunno if he does anymore. Ross is the only one I know of that REGULARLY plays on the PC, everyone else is kind of intermittent with the system, usually sticking to 360. The PC was actually picking up a number of players right up until the release of AE 2012 and then everyone decent dropped the system because Capcom decided to take ~4-5 months to port the patch to the PC.
So sad that you mentioned nothing about the Facebook group, Goomba. =(
tons of players … tons of ranked and endless roomms
solid conections, easy to find a match
players are overall not bad … you’ll be suprised (like i was) its actually really good over here
word. players who are still there so long after release are really interested in the game and its mechanics. pc gamers are talking all the time about core gaming and not being casual (like those “stupid” console gamers) but mp titles where you really have to put time in to be good are still too frustrating for the majority. even highly anticipated and praised pc games like starcraft 2 have a small mp community in comparision to the overall dominating fps genre.
to make it short… yeah, the pc community for sf4 is great. many good players who really have a solid unterstanding of the game and opponents on ranked 24/7. not to mention the awesome mod/skin-scene (new models/stages/music and gameplay mods… hell yeah!)
Just to give a head’s up that I’m streaming AE PC tournaments/matches every weekends. One of the reasons I’m doing this is because there’s a whole lot of people out there whom have AE PC and stopped playing it for whatever reason. I’m trying to bring it back stronger and better which is resulting in full bracketed tournaments.
dont worry …as soon as the next gen of non-backward compatible consoles commes out , everyone is gonna crawl back to the pc verision of SF
i dont wanna be a hipocrite cause in 20 days most i am gonne on xbox to play the game for a big period , but at the end i am gonna come back like everyone else
