A claws encounter of the furred kind: The Ms. Fortune Team Strategy Thread

Well right now everyone can interrupt their alpha counter with any move. It’s a glitch. But after the patch Fortune may be the only one who can still do that because Zoom requires no startup or recovery for Fortune’s body.

so ive been faffing around a bit more with bella and fortune in the lab and found some pretty interesting stuff. one of the things i reckon would be viable in a match and the other is kinda dependant on positioning on the stage but looks pretty damn swag when you pull it off.

first the more useful of the two i think.

basically when you are playing as bella, and have the head off with fortune sitting in the back, you can combo off of bellas F+HP (titan knuckle) by hitting your tag buttons to bring fortune in and immediately doing zoom cancelled into nom you then have plenty of time to run up and start a combo with fortune, obviously with oppertunities for resets etc etc etc. note that the head and opp must be near to the corner when you do this. normally you cannot combo from bellas titan knuckle.

i managed to get a combo that did 7000 damage for no meter cost whatsover. although im sure some of the better players could likely figure out something that does way more damage than that.

second thing is that if you DHC into bellas level 3 with fortune (head off) and havent used your OTG, you can actually hard tag back into fortune and then catch them using Nom as they come back to you. you may need to figure a combo starter that leaves the head in the right spot for you, plus use the L+M buttons to DHC so then the head doesnt move like it does when you DHC with H.

its pretty good to see since it happens so fast one second bella is on the stage and then by the time the opp bounces off the wall fortune is already there waiting for them.

with this one you need the bounce to go the full distance so the further from the corner you can be the better really.

This was probably posted somewhere earlier in this thread, but I find it kind of neat. Off of Fortune’s om nom, you can tag into another character and get a combo off of that. I think that this will be a VERY important tool to have after patch when the head will fly to the other end of the screen. Personally, I play Painwheel/Fortune/Bella, and if Fortune touches you, you have to take a combo from Fortune, another combo from Painwheel, and depending on meter/combo used, I can DHC to Cerebella and you have to take one of her combos again. This also looks pretty cool in a match.

I also think a raw tag combo may be possible off of a chain s.MK s.HP loop. Outside of a combo, I can easily s.HP and raw tag, and have the head hit combo into Painwheel’s tag. This let’s me go for a full Painwheel combo (OTG already used up), but it looks hella flashy. I can’t actually get it to work in a combo, but I haven’t really put much time into it either.

Oddly enough, the qcf+PP headless into another Nom or a sandwich combo might be enough of a buff for Nom.

Nom, qcf+PP will force the head to recover all the way behind you, the head will recover from Nom before you’re done, OTG HP, dash, s.MP, s.MK…

Or just don’t use an OTG then Nom, qcf+PP, OTG Nom.

Oh crap, yeah, I just noticed that. LOL. I definitely don’t mind. To be honest, if I can learn a restand bnb I won’t really care about all the om nom nerfs.

I’m thinking of changing up my order to Fortune/Painwheel/Bella, so I can get the head off and I’ll be able to combo off of a DEATHCRAWL dhc.

So does anyone use Valentine’s throw as an assist for Fortune? I just starting playing around with those two and it feels like Fortune doesn’t need that much help getting in. Throw assist does wonders for mixups and beating pushblocks, and it’s super easy to hitconfirm off.

I considered it, but Valentine does have trouble getting in. If Fortune dies, she’s going to have a hell of a time trying to open the opponent up. So I suppose this would be more proper with a 3-person team, where the third is either Updo, Pillar or HB, so that both Fortune and Val can make use of it.

I’ve come to the conclusion that since Ms. Fortune’s neutral game is one of her strong points, she makes better use of assists that help her get more damage, set up combos and extend her combos. In the lab, I’ve found that Excellebella does all of that and more. Hit confirming into it helps Fortune toss or recover her head and still have time to retaliate and continue, or even set up resets by hitting the opponent or her head into the opponent at the same time Bella hits them.
