They loved fucking with the show’s timeslot’s and availability. When shit got real in season 3 Nick pulled the show from TV and made it a webshow with no warning.
Avatar was great. It was just too intelligent for what networks think a kids show should be. Tackles too many complicated themes. It’s ridiculous when you think about it though because everyone is always going on about how shallow people are today, well they grow up on shallow crap and don’t learn to think about anything important. Kids shows should be smart.
(Yeah, this being a live-action movie basically kills any possible interest I could ever have in this even if I wasn’t already skeptical on the very concept. If anything, then this will probably fail along the lines of Cool World rather than being anything like Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, especially if they try to market it to kids.)
That said, I’m going to add my “+1” to the facts that a Hey Arnold movie could work well (maybe even as a live-action, though I’d prefer not) even nowadays, that Olga’s family was indeed fucked-up and realistically at that, and the Avatar series as a whole is/was unfortunately too good for current Nick even if we were lucky to get it at all. Even compared to all the quality shit that current Cartoon Network sacked, that at least still has a couple of worthwhile shows (apparently); Nick…doesn’t, hence this desperation.
SHE GOT THE COUSIN SKEETER MONEY AND PUT IT ALL IN HER BOOBIES!!
friend said that once. ok maybe more than once.
Anyway, its too late. They pushed Samurai Jack against all these things for years in other media like card games and buyable junk that wasn’t even action figures. Maybe a few DS games.
in Canada, we have YTV instead of Nick, but it shows the same shit. I remember Ren and stimpy bring HUGE when it debuted, then it was deemed too fucked up for kids, taken off for a little while, and by time it came back on, I had moved on.
It never seemed the same, after those first few legendary years.
Arnold’s redhead crush falling in love with his retard cousin Norbert was my personal favorite. It was one of the few times Arnold couldn’t let shit slide.
