I’m really not too sure. However, I remember that bald manager telling me about it before, but he said that since a lot of us guys were regulars, he stayed opened later than say other managers.
I know the manager that comes from Netwerx chooses to close up early.
Before (like when Jon, Ray used to work for them) the rule was used to close HBB’s before the stated 4 a.m. close time on weekends. Some weekends they would close at 2:30 a.m. , most at or around 3 , seldomly at 4 a.m.
I wanted to bring it up so that players will know in advance and can plan better for tourneys/money matches/other exhibition matches.
The last thing the players want is taking part in a really good calibur tournament/money match/exhibition match only to be told “guys we’re closing up for tonight” and having to continue it the next day, weekend.
It might help if a person or two went to check the pool hall area every 15 minutes or so in the later part of the evening, as I have no idea what is the very earliest they can close if no tables are being used. HBB’s closing an hour and a half (which happens more often than players like) before its scheduled closing time is a very large block of time if a tournament were in the latter rounds.
Another weird thing, a couple random people(who I assume are not connected in any way) told me was that they would “trade in” their tokens for cash, if they changed their money to tokens and HBB’s closed early. I don’t think they allow that, but you never know with that place.

The capcom tournament games will all be run on 4 TV’s (20" CRT) AND systems ( PS2, Dreamcast) simultaneously. So we can move through the brackets faster. Also remember that at least 8 people must register for a tournament to take place. Smash brothers will be on my LCD if Netwerx fixes there other TV otherwise everything except halo will be on CRT.
Tournaments can be held for the following games:
- Capcom vs. SNK 2 (PS2) (GARUNTEED $200 PAYOUT!!!)
- Guilty Gear XX Accent Core (PS2)
- Halo 3 (Xbox 360)*
- Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Sega Dreamcast)
- Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3 (PS2)**
- Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (PS2)
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)
- Wii Sports (Wii)
- A team tournament can also be held for this game (2 to 4-man teams via split-screen.) So, an additional quota of at least eight teams has been set.
** A tournament quota of at least twenty players has been set for this game.
Entry Fees
League Members: $10 per tournament
Non-League Members: $15 (see Membership Special.)
MEMBERSHIP SPECIAL: New League Members receive a 50% discount price for their first tournament. (which means, you join the league and you get to enter your first tournament for a total of $20)
NOTE: This membership card entitles you to attend all league events, and also gives you a 5% discount on game purchases at VG addict in nimitz center.
In order to complete the day’s event on schedule, a tournament will begin once the minimum quota (at least eight players) has been met and enough players are present at the venue. League members who remain at the venue until the end of the event are also asked to assist in the breakdown/cleanup process. Competitors are also encouraged to bring their own peripherals (controllers and/or arcade sticks) to the event. Please check with league staff upon arrival for last-minute changes and tournament information.
Members can now pre-register for a tournament featuring the games listed above. Please send an e-mail with a list of the tournaments you’d like to be entered in, along with your contact information (including name, e-mail address and/or phone number) to hawaiivideogamingleague@yahoo.com. You then pay any applicable fees on the day of the event.
Winnings= cash, prizes, and some other suprises

What can you do with the membership after? How many of these “Console Gaming” days are there in a year? (how often?) How many systems and TVs will there be? Is this run by Netwerx? Who’s running it?
