anyone else find it kinda sad dan’s Haoh Gadouken ultra does piss poor damage?
it’s safer then his first ultra but the pay off just doesn’t seem worth it for hitting someone with it
the payoff is worth more than zero…which is how much you get using U1 most of the time…
i understand but doesn’t his first ultra do a lot more damage?
Metsu Shoryuken does a lot more damage than Metsu Hadouken, tell me which Ultra 99.9% of Ryus will use? I’ll give you a hint, it has the word “Hadouken” in it.
Really the only reliable way of landing Shissou Buraiken is from a Focus crumple, that’s it. Haoh Gadouken you can land from KRK FADC and AA LP KRK, that’s tons more opportunities already. You can also turn an LK Dankuu into Ultra combo with 3 bars in the corner, if you’re very lucky you can do it with no super meter at all.
Meh, I’m still not completely sold on ultra 2. I’m not thrilled with the poor damage but it’s not a deal breaker. I do have a problem with being thrown back to the other side of the screen.
I know ultra selection is situational but for sake of argument, consider playing against Sagat. You’ll work you ass off to get into striking range against a good Sagat player, but once do you’re half way home. Why, for the love of god, would you deliberately throw away all that hard work with KRK FADC Ultra II? You’ll just have to get in again.
Unless it’s for the KO, it’s a terrible ultra. IMHO, you’re better off choosing Ultra I and staying stuck in. When that punish situation comes around Ultra I does good damage and leaves you right in their face, which is what you want.

I don’t really mind being launched to full screen. Honestly, I don’t have that much trouble getting in on people. It might help that there’s really not many Sagats around anymore, but even then, with the threat of Knees to mess up their jump arc and the predictablility of most Sagats, I could usually weasel my way inside. In this case, I’ll take damage over positioning.
Besides, with U1 it could be a pain when landing it in the corner to wind up standing right next to the opponent as they wake up, winding up on even footing with no frame advantage. That’s not the kind of guessing game I like to be in. I want time to set up my frame traps and trickery, I want the advantage, and the U1 aftermath doesn’t give me that in the corner.
You really going? We Dan players gotta meet up. Any Dan players going, PM me and we’ll arrange a get together and start the shedaninigans in Vegas. Maybe we’ll go out to eat or something and just Saikyo up the place.
Do it for Ooooooyaaaaajiiiiii
lol a guy on endless seemed surprised when i picked dan(he was juri)and he ended up beating me 3 rounds to none and afterwards he said LOSER!..-_-
of course then i whipped out t.hawk and beat his juri 3-1
A guy on PSN had a mic (I don’t) in ranked, when I picked Dan (against Sim) I heard him laughing as I almost won first and took second. I guess its good to play a Dan every once in a while.
Ass slap to throw is gdlk, I always get compliments on that shedanigan.
That sounds fuckin legit. Its too bad I cant go. Next year I want to!
I can imagine, a bunch of crazy Dan players in one place
No one respects Dan when you first pick him it seems, they taunt you and such the first round and if you dont pick it up they continue to!
However that once happened to me against an abel, first round he beat me while taunting and such, next round I won, 3rd round I perfected him I got his respect in the end.
I love to do taunts on their wake up, even though its not safe at all. I havent got many compliments, but my personal taunt shedanigans are taunt 5 or 9 to throw or koryuken, or backdash to avoid the reversal after they get mad. My other game finishing style kill is focus crumple, taunt, last second koryuken and if needed fadc ultra.
I’ve been putting Dan vids on the front page.
Dan is a superstar. I’ve noticed others have started with it too now. Dan is Mr. Entertainment himself.

Maybe when the tournament DLC comes out we could exchange tags and have a Dan throwdown on Live or something?
Hurr! I have a tournament at Anime North in Toronto coming up… I don’t expect the competition to be all that godlike, which is good, as my execution is in a pretty sore state at the moment. I’ve almost got FADC Ultra II down pat, and still have trouble canceling from s.MP, but I don’t have any more time to practice. Guh… I wish I could use a keyboard.
We’ll see how it goes…
Don’t tell me I can and you can’t
You should be fine, you don’t need to be fancy to win with Dan (if that’s who you’re using). Usually in tournaments you get lots of stupid questions about Dan. Good luck, may Saikyo be your guide.
It’s a weird state to be in. It’s like trying to play in a vat of molasses. I tried playing online in Vanilla last night and got steamrolled by a Rose player I used to at least cause trouble for.
Buffering Koryuken is also way easier on a keyboard.
For KRK FADC I usually use MP KRK, using the shortcut then hold MP and MK then dash or something.
Actually, my button dexterity is intact. I’m essentially lefty when it comes to sticks, but my other hand was always on buttons anyways, so it’s not all that different. The Sanwa buttons are a bit overly sensitive, but it’s not a far cry from a board keys.
It’s joystick motions that give me grief. The square gate’s contacts are pretty close to the gate, and I end up having to ride on it more than I’m comfortable doing, which I feel slows down my inputs substantially. DPs, Supers and Ultras are fine. Dan uses quarter circles from neutral when canceling s.MP. I have trouble doing that fast and accurately for a lot of my favourite combos. Under pressure it’s tricky. I’ll probably be favouring Focus Attack a lot.
I haven’t been practicing as much as I could be. I’ve only put in like 12 hours on the stick in SFIV. I assume I’m making good time.
I still miss the odd s.MP xx Dankuu I’m using an octagonal gate too, my inputs will never be that good

We should start a team Dan, its working well in the Sak forums and others as well. And to take from Sugami, we should form Team Saikyo, of Saks, Dans, and Blankas.
Not to mention have 4 vs 4 against other teams.
