For something to practice, id say Knee blockstrings and general shedanigans. (I can never get them right ;_
I don’t know where your playing but in most tournaments i’ve been too i’ve fought Ken, Sagat, Ryu, you know the typical guys. All depends on who you get put against in the brackets, but to be safe id say just learn the Dan vs Shoto matchup well. I always hope that i end up fighting an abel/Fuerte/Bison but so far that hasn’t been the case =/. And above all don’t panic. Something i still haven’t gotten over myself.
You’ll get used to the scene the more you attend

Yeah Knee block strings, know what you mean, sometimes my mind just goes blank and I think, “Oh fuck, they blocked it… what now?” I think the idea is to know what you want to do as you’re mid-Knee then you’re able to quickly follow up instinctively.
Question for you guys; given Dan will have a second rival (probably won’t :() who do you think it should be?
No Sagat >.> Alpha killed that rivalry twice. Blanka perhaps since he’s another student of Saikyo (apparently). Adon perhaps, they’re both full of themselves and Adon wants to beat Sagat where Dan believes he already has done 
And where’s the post-battle cutscenes? After Dan beats Sakura we want to see him give her a lecture about Saikyo and she’d be all “Wow, guess I shouldn’t have underestimated you. Thanks for the fight, Hibiki-san!”
I’m pretty sure Dan’s second rival will be Sagat. Even the promotional art hints at that. The Ultra videos on Capcom’s website might be hinting at second rivalries as well. Dan is put up against Sagat in those. I don’t think Blanka will be Dan’s second rival, but I do think Dan will be Blanka’s second rival. That fits in with the website theory, as Blanka is demonstrating his new Ultra on Dan.
Barring that, I’d make a suggestion out of left field and nominate Gouken as a second rival. They were master and student, after all. Gouken might be displeased with what Dan’s done with his style, or he might be impressed that Dan has put aside his revenge in exchange for something more productive (if not successful).
Dan’s always hated Sagat, after beating him at the end of Alpha 2 you’d think he’d let it go They said they’d add more rivals but not for everyone, so far we’ve only seen Ryu/Ken and Guile/Bison in term of new ones with “old” characters. I don’t think they’ll think Dan having an extra one is all that important to the story sadly enough 
Gouken would be interesting, if I remember Dan says “You look familiar, huh? What are you doing here?” To him
I don’t think he hates sagat, or if he did he was still cool enough to offer to train him after he won.
Gouken v Dan would be…hm.
Dan, traveling through the woods (maybe lost? for the dan factor) sees Gouken meditating…

Sounds cool, still think we need post-fight cutscenes so it can show Dan “towering” over the fallen Gouken laughing (or maybe crying) boasting how his Saikyo-ryu is unstoppable :tup:
People seem to think the Ultra combo select is hinting at new rivals but I think only the “main” characters will be getting a new one If it’s right then we’re getting boring Sagat, buu, glad they gave us the adorable Sakura in SF4
Yeah Dan vs. Gouken would be pretty cool I think, and post fight cutscenes would be great too, I actually like watching cutscenes before a fight.
For me, his list of rivals would be:
Sakura
Sagat
Ryu
Gouken
Akuma
And if the rumors are true, then Makoto, since they both are fighting for their father and fighting style so I think it would create some interesting dialogue there :tup:
Heh, Makoto, interesting… he could try to recruit her into his dojo like he (thinks he) did with Sakura

I assumed it’d be either Blanka or Sagat when I first read about the new rivals, and the ultra footage has of course swayed it to Sagat. Blanka would be like Ryu vs Ken, i.e. more like sparring than actually fighting. Sagat, because Dan is stubborn. Or maybe Sakura told him Sagat threw it, or something to annoy him like that.
I’m putting my money on Blanka and Sagat as rival fights for Dan. They said certain characters were getting two rival fights, and Dan has always been said to be a dev-team favourite whenever he’s brought up in interviews. I guess we can only wait and see.
Yeah, I forgot Blanka, so is Dan going to retain his rival fight with Sakura? I think it’ll be Sakura and Blanka, but then again I have no idea who’s Sakura’s rival fights will be, I read somewhere else it was Cammy. I noticed they don’t like to mirror it (like Ryu vs. Ken and Ken vs. Ryu).
They said that not every character will get a new rival battle on top of their “current” one, no chance Dan will be getting two new ones sadly We’d be lucky to get one new one considering Dan’s not all that vital to the plot
You’re vastly underestimating how popular the true master of Sho- I mean Saikyou-Ryu is!
Re: Dan and Makoto.
The most recent issue of Street Fighter II: Turbo the comic has a bonus story where Makoto sends out a challenge to every dojo in Japan to help rebuild the pride of the Rindouken dojo. Dan is the first person to show up and she promptly beats the crap out of him. Dunno if it’s considered canon or not and whether the events were considered to occur during SF3 (which it looks to be by Makoto’s age) but they seem to be strangers at the least when it goes down.
Not that this would stop Dan from trying to recruit her next time they met but I thought you guys might find it interesting and it’s at least something to discuss in this dead-ass forum.

Not that many, and don’t really like how they draw Dan They do girls well but I think Dan looks better in Sakura Ganbaru =3
