Yo Tak, so apparently its only 3s players that post here on SRK, I went to the arcade the other day, the MvC2 machines were pretty active. Thats right, machines ie. plural, they had a couple in a row. But wtf is up with all the iceman/cyclops/doom players over here?? Its as if thats an actual legit team seriously. I havent seen a 3s cab yet, but maybe Im just in the wrong area. CvS2, saw one cab, no one playing.

You can come to Gonq for lessons…
Realisically just take all the skills from ST (wiff punishing, spacing control, throw setups, counter hit setups, anti-air skills, reversals, etc.) with you and you’ll be fine. You just have to learn the grooves, frames/priorities and characters, which we can help you out with. CvS2 is very much like ST but with many more variables.
So how come shotos don’t rule supreme? Oh right super jump owns fireballs for free.

Shotos rule supreme in ST?? I wouldn’t go that far. Obviously with all the variables, characters (in which the gross amount dont even exist in ST) and new moves the tiers aren’t going to be reflective of ST… My point was that CvS2 and ST play and demand the same skillset: it’s just in a different way/amount (the variables alone change it instantly)
Super Jump owns fireballs for free??? Whaaaat? I would definetly not say that. Roll Cancel owns fireballs for free…
Super jump and roll can counter a fireball but they can also both be baited and punished through fireballs (unless the character has a really bad fireball); so it’s not much of a problem.
Zoning in CvS2 is about complexity/variety. Instead of Sagat, Ryu and Ken zoning the SHIT out of characters with fireballs like ST (it can end up taking up 80% of the characters play) CvS2 demands you to zone with more moves (pokes usually)variant to the situation (position, opposing character, *mind game going on).
ST has those same skills but it doesn’t come into play as often since fireballs are too good.

lol, “loose” jap sticks. I was sandbagging like hell, nerves too I guess. I mean, there was one point after launching w/ magneto and instead of superjumping, I (accidentally) cancelled it into a snap. Missed AHVBs, fucking up Psylocks AC, etc etc, Yeah, I could keep making excuses, but I guess you could also say that I suck right now.

Actually, I don’t think I’ll be able to go to Gonq unless you guys want to agree on a time pretty early today because I’ll have to bike all the goddamn way. Some idiot crashed in my car with his truck while I was waiting for my turn on a stop. How can you manage to do that anyway? I wasn’t even moving.
But yeah, I’m flat broke so no bus tickets so I’ll have to bike wherever I want to go today unless manage to force my friend in driving me there but he’s scared shitless of going into Ottawa for some reason.
On a side note, that friend hates me in CvS2 now because the only character I don’t suck with is Blanka and I OCV him all the time. I think that’s why he doesn’t want to bring me to Ottawa, he’s scared my other chars will stop sucking once I get some decent practice in!
Any plans for games next week? I come back on saturday and seriously miss playing fighting games. I propose a Gonq session or someone’s house. Mine if necessary.
I’m going to be at the gonq @6 for some training for my job there.
