Don’t worry I seen worst wiring jobs than this. At least this isn’t a rats nest.
+1. It looks great!
The casework is great.
Sorry for the poor image quality, but it’s difficult hobbling around on crutches trying to find out where my camera is, so I had to take this with my iPhone. What you see here, if it wasn’t so blurry and fuzzy, is the first joystick that I have ever built. Completed after having to abandon my arcade cabinet build after finishing up the two player control panel for it and coming to the harsh reality that there would be no way I could fit a cabinet inside my house. Not wanting parts to go to waste, I took what was just collecting dust and put them into the stick you see here. Just picked up a USB A/B connector and a Chtulu from LizardLick so that I could use the stick on my PS3 and my PC. Started the stick up way back in February/March, but it still isn’t 100% finished. Have some issues with some intermittent response on some buttons, and while laid out with the broken ankle I’m using my multimeter to try and find out where the issue is. I’m thinking that the braided wire used to make the connections is not really making a solid connection to the Chtulu and the screw terminals it uses. (The wires have been soldered to the microswitches hooked up to the buttons/joystick and are good solder joints). I have some spade terminals lying around, and I may try soldering the free ends of the wires to the spade terminals, then inserting the spade terminals into the screw spots on the Chtulu and screwing it down tightly, thus ensuring a solid connection. I also need to get the PS Home button to function properly.
Anyway, I am a fan of the 6 button arrangement, as well as the straight across carpal-tunnel inducer and bat-top joystick as it reminds me of the SF cabinets I spent hours of my life on when I was growing up.
How did you confirm that JLW presence was based on mfr date? Is it somewhere on the body?

This HRAP2 was originally an 8-button stick:
When i ordered a new custom steel panel, lexan, and artwork---- 6 Button all the way!
I also changed the layout from HRAP1 to the modern HRAP3, which i believe to be better.

Is that 3D art as in Lenticular? If so, I must ask where you acquired such a thing as I’ve been looking for someone to do a lenticular cover for me for ages :<
It’s the stock artwork for the Qanba.
As pzlate stated it is a stock art from the pc only q4raf ice blue, I also have a spare from when I ordered the six button conversin kit from canadianjoysticks.com as a bonus they were giving the ssf4 ae 3d art with the first batch of six button conversion kits, the one you see on the ice blue was underneath the minsk art guess I got lucky on this one.
Awh that sucks, was hoping I’d got a lead finally XD
you know whats reaaaally fucking dumb
the VSHG is perhaps the best case out there. It’s debatable of course but the placement of all the elements on the top plate resembles an arcade panel very closely. Then there are people who build their own VSHG replicas because it’s obviously one of the best cases ever produced.
AND THEN THEY FUCKING MOVE THE STICK AND BUTTONS WAY UP HIGH THAT IN NO WAY RESEMBLES A JAPANESE CANDY CAB WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!
Maybe they like the ergonomics better.
^ This, specially if you have big hands and having bigger hands than an average japanese isn’t that hard.
No, I don’t have any VSHG-like case/stick, be it in it’s original or alternative placement.
Because they’re called customs, not replicas.
who is they?
you mean to tell me the entire market dislikes the feel of a japanese candy cab?
It’s all preference.
One man’s gold may be another’s tin.
As an example, in my humble opinion, the namco and agetec dreamcast cases are two of the best. The VSHG is nice, but the control panel is cluttered.
There needs to be another retail stick with a slant like the Namco. So comfortable.
Mmmmm…no?
I just said that, from a custom perspective, makes sense to relocated the whole layout if it makes more comfortable to the user. That simple.
Geez, you need to relax.
I’m not talking about customs. I’m talking about sticks put on the market either in small or big runs. not personalized sticks. (the funny thing is most custom stick makers who set up shop dont have an option for button placement, just config).
im plenty relaxed though, this is just a major pet peeve. thats all.
Why the heck are we debating buttons and stick placement this is 6-button stick appreciation not start a flame war on buttons or joystick placement.
