If not using those two methods then, what other ways can you get past peoples’ defense when using Dudley.
I think it’s more important to think differently about levels. We shouldn’t just gauge ourselves as: Beginner > Intermediate > Advanced. If you just gauge yourselves on 3 levels of skill, then it’s really easy to 1. Be satisfied when you hit advanced or 2. Feel like you can never go from intermediate to advanced.
Let’s just all think of ourselves as beginners, that way whatever we learn, we just put behind us and go onto something new. Don’t think of it like, oh I learned something new, or I learned enough new things to reach the level of intermediate. Just learn new things, then after you learn them, learn some more. Eventually you’ll build up enough tools. It’s hard to really say, what’s the difference between an intermediate player and an advanced player. What distinguishes them? Don’t bother too much with thinking… “oh, I’m intermediate but this guy is advanced, I need to reach his level.” NO! I broke all my plateau’s when I stopped trying to be better than everyone else instead being better than myself. I challenged myself to become better against myself, not against another player.
I find a lot of players have someone they want to be better than. Most of the players in my area always think, we want to reach Pyro and 5 Star level, but I honestly don’t think that way. I see players when they get better than a player they are trying to get better than become satisfied, and they let their rivals catch up to them, and it’s like an ongoing battle, one day player A catches player B and is stronger. Player A begins to relax, player B works harder, catches A and is stronger, repeat. I just told myself mentally to keep pushing not to be better than player A, but to be better than I was the week before, that way you can always keep pushing your limit even when you reach the top. Never become idle! Goodluck!
I think that what 5star is saying is that many Dudley players tend to go into auto pilot mode when they start solely relying on their character greatest strength (ex: 50/50 on every knockdown) instead of reading their opponents and outplaying them like they should be doing in the first place. Because their only goal in mind is getting that parry punish and 50/50 they forget about all the other elements of footsies.
Good! Most Dudley players think that’s all that character has and don’t even bother to learn other things about the game let alone the character. Hence why I hate Dudley players.
One example, and I’m definitely not saying to use this unless all your opponent player does is mash crouching jab on wake up, is to throw rose, pause and parry down and punish with standing roundhouse upper. I’ve seen Kokujin do this to Mester and Nuki in matches knowing that is one of the way they like to defend on wake up. This does more damage than 50/50 and allows you to attack without meter while gaining meter. Once again… do not do it just because Kokujin does it! Understand your opponent players defense!
Can you go into some of Ken’s matchups against other good characters? how do you approach Ken-Chun and Ken-Makoto?
youtube recommended this to me, maybe these new guys never seen before ever might enjoy “THE MASTER” and some Urien Ryan they know all over youtube.

Millions of girls for a Chinese dude,
like yourself “chingo bingo”=Ryu24?
Is like everyday, you lucky jerks.
Or Dander’s: “That motherfucker will try to start talking to me about 3rd Strike at a party with girls!!” but I forgot who he was talking about. Its probably better to not remember which friend Dander was making fun of.
This post was stupid. I should’ve scanned the new article with “Kobe isn’t a monk, that’s not what I’m saying” right after the writer made a Kobe is like a monk example and might light himself on fire or just say this shits not right, and become even quieter. “There’s this guy in the room. You want to go up to him and say, you’re terrible. Stop being so terrible. We’ve all put in considerably more time than you not being terrible”
“If everybody worked as hard as Kobe Bryant…”
Ah I get what you’re saying. Well thanks Kane and 5 Star for answering my question.
Can you please critique my gameplay also? I’ve been playing Ken to tighten my execution and because I am just better / more experienced with him, but I would like to focus on mastering Denjin Ryu. I am working on what I know are my biggest weaknesses, which are 1. Execution and 2. Taking way too many big/unnecessary risks… but can you identify specific patterns/weaknesses/mentalities that I need to work on to pass the plateau I’m on? I don’t care about the highest win %, placing high in tournaments or being the best. I just care most about playing as sick as possible like Frank, Juan and Vanao. That’s the number one reason why I play this game. Of course I would like to improve to win more often and compete with higher level players, but I would rather win less and play sick (rushdown/jungle style) than win more and play boring.

Thank you for the reply and you’ve actually gave me better advice than what I ex[ected. I never thought about applying things from my favorite video game to life itself, I think that’s more valuable than winning any tournament.
I realized that I didn’t respond. I’m not really feeling Hugo, but I’m keeping him in my avatar for Black History month, But I honestly feel like what you said applies to most of the cast (especially Alex) or anyone who lacks a Low Forward combo. Except maybe Urien, I think with Urien as soon as he gets Aegis it’s all about getting in that ass asap.
Thanks Denjizz, but I already know all of that stuff. I truly don’t mean to be rude or confrontational but I’m pretty sure I know a lot more about Denjin Ryu than you do. The current best Denjin Ryu in the country (juanfm) taught me how to play this game and character. Game knowledge and technique isn’t really my problem at this point, it has more to do with my habits and approach.
You’re making me really angry. I was going to give you some game advice but you blew it. You come into my thread ask for advice, but yet you fail to read anything else that I’ve taken time to explain.
First off, why are you sure you know more than Denjizz? All I have been saying is, you can learn something from everyone and the more you don’t think so HIGHLY of yourself, the better you’ll get. You come into my thread having to make it clear to someone who is obviously JOKING with you that you’re better? How many tournaments have you won? You are the perfect example of players that I will never respect. At least go win a tournament somewhere, anywhere, before you have this attitude. You really don’t want me to analyze your abilities, it won’t be very nice. Here is the only bit of advice you need to hear right now. You beat some guys that hardly ever play this game who came out to support FFA at the tourney, cool, I’m truly happy that you’ve improved, I can totally see you’ve improved in the last year, no joke. HOWEVER, the game is like 15 years old, it’s about time you got to 2005 level.
Lose your attitude. Current best and all that stuff is just human ego which stops you from progressing at the game. Go take some time and read all my earlier posts.
And I even feel bad for writing all this cause this side of me hasn’t come out in a long time, but god you piss me off.
yi. you plan on coming up to the bay anytime soon? i’d definitely like to play some crack with you.
That wasnt advice, that was a set of insults. Perhaps that was an attempt to humble me so i can take more of a humble student approach, but I draw humility from the ways that I lose matches, never from your sticks and stones.
This side hasn’t come out of you in a long time? Please… You’ve always been one of the biggest elitists/narcissists I’ve ever met ever since I first started playing this game and that has never changed. You obviously don’t feel too bad or you wouldn’t have written it. Someone who is truly humble does not have the need to write in the manner that you just wrote. I read everything you’ve posted in this thread. Be humble and learn as much as possible from any/everyone and any/every situation. Okay thanks, Ill do that. And yes, I do want you to analyze my abilities, that’s part of the humbling experience, isn’t it?
I’m glad that ill never have your respect, I certainly don’t need or want it if that hasn’t been made clear to you already. I piss you off? Great. It’ll make it that much more satisfying when I start to beat you consistently.
please try harder to not shit up what is currently a good thread.
are there characters that you feel you underestimate? characters you feel you lack a lot of knowledge about and assume a lot about?
do you feel the gap between the generally accepted strong characters and weak characters is wide or not(?), and do you you think that has more to do with knowledge and investigation than any kind of objective character strength.
When the Niners win the Superbowl! J/k… umm I’m pretty busy with life, so it would be hard to make a trip to Norcal just to play. But if you are in Socal… oh wait we don’t have an arcade lol
I’m being really nice, I can give you a set of insults if you really want them? But I’m a monk, and this is my place of peace.
My apologies for arguing with bricks everyone. You know what they say, can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Anyways just ignore him.
Ah… I said what I said so teenage school girl Dander doesn’t jump in here and derail the thread more.
We’ve never played before back when I challenged you on GGPO. I’m still quite competitive. Let’s play on ggpo then.
