I’m not quite sure why you aren’t able uppercut from the 1p side? They are the same sticks, and presumably have the same amount of wear on them. I can replace both of em with new ones if you want.
you bringing anyone venkitty?

If ringopan is bringing his SVGL buddies, I’m not joining (but I’ll still run) 3S
probably just me. a sf4 beginner friend may tag along.
Hm I may go to this.
come and let’s get some passion friut macchiato at starbucks :lovin:
lol. If you come i definitely don’t have a shot.
I appreciate the candid responses to my question of banning the use of 3P/3K.
While I disagree that people should be forced to play with ‘arcade rules’ in a console tournament, the fact that this tournament is being held in an arcade makes these rules appropriate.
However, if these MUGA tournaments ever move into being ‘console only’ I would highly encourage a re-thinking of banning control set-ups that are included in the game…players who use Pads or those who learned to play on console with the use of 3P/3K will be less likely to attend.
I understand that you want more ‘skilled’ players to attend than just ‘more’ players (I don’t know why…more people = higher prize and more hype for future tournaments)…but assuming that because someone learned to play SF4 using 3P/3K that they are not skilled is ‘elitist’ and honestly, not true. I said this before, and I will say it again here; if you think that it’s possible that you will lose some matches because your opponent uses 3P/3K, well…I hate to break it to you…but you are incorrect…people win matches in SF4 because of spacing, timing, reading/predicting your opponent, match-up knowledge, and execution…and hitting 3p/3k is such a TINY portion of execution that saying you lost to someone because they used 3P/3K is wrong.
Again, this is a mute point for me personally, as I don’t even own a PS3 or Xbox360 and have never used 3P/3K…I just feel like the no 3P/3K rule is silly and unnecessary for console tournaments.
Actually, hitting 3p/3k in sf4 is very much a big part of execution. The 3p/3k window for this game is very tight and it’s a fairly large complaint of most veteran players. You get stupid shortcuts that don’t really help above average players yet hitting inputs for an ultra is difficult.
Not hitting 3p/3k at a crucial time in your punishing input is a very possible occurrence and I’ve seen it first hand at concord’s last tourney where people miss a punish. It’s especially obvious when people mash out a super instead of an ultra or they get a motion overlap like:
seismo hammer instead of ultra
tiger knee instead of ultra
ex headbutt instead of ultra
srk instead of ultra
ex blanka ball instead of ultra
etc. etc. etc.
edit for prickness. i hate u dan.
Honestly I don’t ever plan on having a console tournament, all of our tournaments (or at least the ones I run) will be arcade based, as the MUGA is an arcade.
I know Matt sounds like a prick in his explanation, but really…I got nothing.
He is a prick, but he is also correct. I can’t even fathom to guess the number of times I have missed Chun’s dash ultra, with her st. forward medium kick coming out instead . I would probably never miss this ultra if I had a 3k button.
Jang Iksu got beat once by someone using 3P/3K, it messed him up so bad he retired from Tekken Tag Tournament and picked up… rollerblading

i didn’t know tekken tag had 3p/3k
Thx for the backup dan.
Asshole -_-.
Just so you guys know, I’m gonna be there at 12 PM on the day of the tournament to help move machines to accommodate the console setups. Matt and Dan are gonna be there too I think. But we could always use some extra help to move these suckers. And Dan, do we have anybody whose willing to volunteer their ps3 (and/or converters, sticks, etc.) for tournament use?
17 times that i’ve seen
i have mine available, ps3 + 2 sticks + game.
I respect that the console game and arcade game are different games with obviously different rules. But if something’s legal and in the game and it helps me win, I’m going to use it. I’m pretty sure that’s a universally held truth at srk.
That said, I have ALOT of admiration for the arcade players who do it the hard way. But I’m definitely a console player with a long way to go and I’ll only play sporadically in arcades. So I’ll take any efficient shortcut the game affords me.
I might attend. PicNic Day is the day after?
aww mang fuck that! i wish i was in cali! i would SOOOO play tetris attack! a game i can actually do combo consistently! :looney:
I was using my shitty-ness as an example as to how switching sides could make it more even for other players. It takes so little time to switch between 1p and 2p why not do it? Now that one of the arcade screens is messed up again, the person with the working arcade screen is at an advantage because, well, the monitor sucks.
LOLriats!
