For a ps1 stick can you just click it in or does it require soldering?
its requires .5v of power is a powered joystick unlike the JLF so yes if you have a ps1 stick with a Ps1 PCB it has to be soldered and I believe most ps1 sticks PCB’s do not have this power without some sort of conversion toodles mentions it in the spark ebay listing
Excited hype hype hype hype hype
lol ones over $100 already?!? how high is this goin! hype hype!!
if it requires .5v of power, how would one mod their stick to install this?
nominated! and like Zero said i just cant afford them right now… but as soon as we have a official release date i will most likely buy 2… or 3
Looks awesome, congrats and getting them production ready.
Are these the normal engage distance versions or are they sanwa flash sensitivity? crosses fingers for the later

Thank you thank you thank you!
Frankly, I don’t know yet. I haven’t gotten the quote on the housings yet.
I have definitely considered it but haven’t looked too hard into doing so yet. NRX made a great design that would work perfect for just that purpose and already offered to let me use it for one, but I haven’t looked too hard into doing it yet. I can tell you that the costs that go with plastic molding are too high for me to want to get a mold and production run of washers made though; it’d be a pretty big impact on the cost of the Spark. However, I think I’d like to chat with Art about getting a few custom engraved acrylic washers for at least the first X number of purchasers; maybe upload the file to Ponoko if folks wanted to make their own. I’m not sure yet, but it is on the table.
Is the description in the auction vague on this point?
+5 volts, not .5 volts. Check the description in the auction, but if you’re wanting a pictorial guide for your stick, you’re out of luck, especially since it depends on the stick.
The engage distances on them are actually a hair more sensitive than the flash. I doubt that in a double blind test anyone would be able to tell from using it though.
Awesome, good to see this moving forward. Shout outs to Toodles for holding it down and going hard.
People should not only look at how cool it will be to be the first to get one of these spark boards, but also at helping the community be able to get toodles to be able to get the production run started. So the high prices on the auction are worth it when you look at the big picture
looks likr these boards will sell up around $160 depending on how hard the bids go the last day… a lot of “feeler” bids going through now. your smoking crack if you think its going to stay that low.
couple hours left! hype hype!
well a little more than a couple hours left but man I hope I win…I’m sure I’ll get all the bitches with one of these :wgrin: You know its going to be a hot min before these are mass produced word on the street is they put that old flash sanwa thing to shame the Sanwa flash is vanilla Flash and this is SUPER FLASH aka The Spark

thanks so much toodles! i love opticals and i had to get my hands on one, but i think the community as a whole REALLY needed this. this way everyone can try an optical without having to search so much and pay a high premium. i’m betting we get a lot of converts from switch to optical once you go in to mass production. you’ve done a great service, toodles. thank you again
