I’m not playing SF4 because…It’s the worst incarnation of the series so far (no counting SF1 obv.), in my opinion
SF2 and its spawn are better games (duh)
SF3 and its spawn are better games with the possible exception of NG
SF Alpha and its spawn were better games, even Alpha 3
Both CVS are better games
…I like even the EX series better
With so many SF games I like better, why even bother with 4?
Also, the game’s presentation is horrendous imo (music, graphics, style), maybe if it actually looked cool, I’d try to like it a little harder
I’m not playing 4 because its too slow and theres alot of annoying things about it such as the stupid reversal windows, lenient inputs, defensive gameplay nature to name but a few.
I still play the occasional 3S because its fun and has more in your face action, that and I’m getting more and more into the KoF series since that plays alot faster than the SF series from what I’ve played so far anyway.
It’s sad that 3S didn’t get embraced by the mainstream like 4 did, because 3S in my opinion trumps 4 in every way possible if we are talking about it from a spectators point of view, its far more exciting to watch, 4 is so boring.
SF3:3S had (still has?) an amazing run. SF4 (or any incarnation of it) won’t last half as much, mark my words.
As for the “embraced by the mainstream” comment…Well, when 3S came out, it was Arcade-only for a good while, and the first port (DC) was far from arcade-perfect…And it took a while until SF Anniversary came out, with little hype going on about it…3S wasn’t ever mass-marketed.
As someone who used to take 3s very seriously and ‘switched’ to 4 once it came out, I wasn’t too happy with the pace of 4 for the longest time. Game was too slow!
However, with Japan play being a good indicator of how the game will evolve in other parts of the word, I noticed that the pace of 4 got faster and faster and more aggressive the higher level you go. This is a good thing. When the recent finals/semi final vids of SBO become available, I’m sure most of us on these 3s boards will be pleased with what we see.
Rather, it’s cr. lk, cr.lp, cr.lk so you can hit-confirm into Ken’s SA3!
SF4 sucks, but that’s a shitty reason to give as explanation…That stuff has been part of SF since forever…In SSF2T, they had chain cancels, and it was used for the same purpose: Hit-confirming.
I just remembered how such little things can be effected onto your combos… like, ryu, shoryu into Shinkuu, it would miss if it was a hp shoryu.
Or Urien Mirror lengths on the punch strength or even Holding onto Denjin.
Yeah that’s another thing I hated about SFIV, the fact that a lot of characters that really needed an overhead didn’t really get one. Sure I could do instant air fierce with Claw but that would put me in an undesirable position.
SF4 is such an apology gameplay and design wise its just sad. Ono said that he doesn’t care about what the fans say and their input all he wanted was the casual hipsters ( ones with the ironic sf2 tshirts ) . He wanted video gamers to forget that sf3 existed he and Daigo Ikeno are doing their best damn effort to let sf3 slip thru the cracks of time .
Look no port even when garou the snk equivalent of sf3 came out.
2. SF4 is set before sf3 but so close to it in timeline that it can overlap sf3 creating new canon.
3. Art style the game is trying ukiyo-e painting and sf2 a horrible mesh of concepts the game direction doesn’t mesh samurai showdown did ukiyo-e painting perfectly that is their lane.
4. The new guys are pulling from so many different rival series that it isn’t even funny.

Um… I love street fighter 4. I started to quite recently, but the scrubs have turned me off. You can’t go anywhere without someone claiming street fighter 4 supremacy. They don’t know shit. It legitimately makes me upset because my best friend is the biggest scrub i have ever met, he things raging demons are impossibly cheap, thinks everything that beats him is cheap, and is convinced Dan is top tier. People like that make me shy away from street fighter 4. No scrub brags about being a third strike champion because it probably didn’t have an overhypage, I wouldn’t know i’m 16 only recently got decent at fighters.
