3's Players: Why Aren't you Playing Street Fighter 4?

Alright cool just gimme a holler when you need them.

Heh. I went to POWNZ one tournament and asked if they were playing 3s. They all looked at me as if was asking to nail their mothers.

3s for life for me… i love that game.

It’s just a damn shame that 3s isn’t played more often. I’d really like to play SF4, but frankly it’s just so… bad in comparison to third strike. The parry system alone is just one of the most revolutionary things ever introduced into the fighting game genre, and the absence of parrying in SF4 just makes me avoid playing it all together.

Street Fighter 4 is a step backwards in the mechanics and overall gameplay it’s slow and boring, and often too redundant and in Street Fighter 4 the Match ups are too important, you can’t play it for 10 years and still learn most people have learned all there is to know in 10 months people who started only a bit ago will learn everything in 10 weeks people who start today will learn everything and 10 day’s.

these are my personal thoughts. i live in an area where everyone who would put up a challenge is either too busy or not interested in 3rd strike which really is a shame as it’s proven itself to be this ten year and still going strong game the level of complexity is far superior to that of street fighter 4 and i really hope the 09’ers and 010’ers(?) realize this and at least respect the game for that if nothing else.

AGREED! Its hard for me to play SF IV as I know I would MUCH rather being playing 3S. I try to play whenever I can find comp on Xbox Live which is rare and I can’t seem to get GGPO working :crybaby:, but even then I still will not go back to SF IV.
A lot of people near my area play 3S when they can and also none of them care that much for SF IV. Its just hard to find competition but there are still many fans scattered out there, if i ever get GGPO work it would be a miracle and I will be on there playing 3S all the time.

if they put necro is this series of sf4 games then ill go hard…for now i like beating east coast finest with on the ground gouki…courtesy of 3rd strike footsies

Hee ^-^

Third strike seems a tad bit purrtier to me. And the music is more fantastical.

3s characters for SSF4 would be so good that I would actually buy a system just to play it at home. Make it happen, CAPCOM.

I actually pulled my name out of a local SF4 tourney so I can run HDR, BB, MvC 2 and you guessed it, 3S side tourneys at the event. (Maybe even CvS 2 if I can get the setup)

I tried to like SF4, its a solid competitive game, I just dont like how restrictive the fighting system is in that game, i’ll try and like SSF4 too, heres hoping they make the game more aggreessive.

didn’t wanna make a new thread since this is foremost a 3S board, but:

booooo

NO! theyre going to ruin dud mak and buki :frowning: :frowning:

hah, don’t get me wrong. i’m not endorsing an automatic transition from 3S to this game or anything. would never do that.

dudley’s stance looks more crouched in sf4. gentlemen are supposed to have good posture damnit. also makoto’s face is a little creepy.

if people are interested i might make a thread here though, where we can talk about info on the 3S characters. because the sf4 section is dominated by people who found out that 3S existed today and are pretending to be bigger fans than us…

edit: dudley and makoto portion of famitsu

credit for all these links goes to people on the sf4 board obviously

Dudley has Balrog’s upper body. Capcom got lazy.

That’d be cool. There’s so much to wonder about what could possibly be. I’m honestly curious about Makoto the most. I can see Dudley and Ibuki transitioning fairly well, but…that spunky li’l girl with the big-ass feet…and who better to discuss this than the 3S players!

To be perfectly honest, this has totally made me want to try out SSF4. Just the fact that they’re finally showing some 3S characters love makes me happy.

It looks like Makoto has her SA2 for her ultra or super.
I was deciding not to buy SSF4 until I saw that Makoto and Ibuki, so I guess I have too now.

Dudley’s model looks absolutely atrocious.

judging from that pic, i wonder if they gave dudley a peekabo like stance, or they did kinda get lazy. lol

to be fair, those aren’t direct-feed screenshots. they’re photos taken of what i assume is an lcd screen so the colours and lighting look bad. but he also looks really tall (consider that t-hawk is supposed to be huge, well over 7’) and too aggressive in that stance so i dunno. either way, the pic at the top suggests that his face looks ok with proper lighting.

if anyone cares here’s a basic summary of what’s known so far

dudley:
-rocket is his super, rolling thunder and corkscrew cross (apparently just corkscrew blow, not cross counter related) are his ultras. corkscrew isn’t directly linkable after f+hk
-has most if not every normal (including command normals) and special move from 3S plus dive bomber move from 2I which is a charge move
-8 (at least?) chain combos
-juggles are obviously not as good as 3S due to the system but apparently are damaging and easy to do

makoto:
-tanden is her super (can block during it, not sure what gets sacrificed), seichusen and abare are ultras (remember you can’t cancel into ultras so fierce xx abare from 3S is impossible
-apparently still has a good dash even though it’s sf4
-could be wrong but i think someone said that karakusa, hp x hayate, then some combination of supers works after that… might’ve been activate tanden, link seichusen?

ibuki:
-super is SA1, ultras are yoroi doushi and some modified version of hashin sho from 2I
-neckbreaker breaks armour and goes under fireballs (which is a big deal in this game)
-f+mk still links into combos but has slower startup?

there should be some vids in a couple days and that’ll give an idea of the pacing and general movement.

I don’t know about you guys but having 3s characters in sf4 isn’t going to make the game better. It’s still sf4 and it’s still bunk.
