This game looks a lot like 2nd impact as far as bgs and colors go.
Lol this thread is so funny. Page after page of “Waahh, my game isn’t popular anymore!” and “everyone has moved on to the upgraded version what will we do! :(:(”. I chuckled heartily.
i got bored with SF4 quick but im really gonna dig into ssf4 to rep the 3s characters. Until the gods give me a 3s hd remix or something ill keep playing 3s for life and ill play with ssf4 till i get bored maybe around october lol
but you are right though…i dont feel them adding mak, duds or ibuki as a nod to the 3s faithful
i do hope that the current US 3s players get into the game and start beasting on people. i would find a lot of joy in that
The Third Strike characters are going to dominate in SSF4. They have so many tools…
Dudley is just going to roll over everyone especially.
i think dudley and ibuki will be good but makoto won’t be if block stun is still fucked up.

I really do think that dudley is going to be beastly as fuck. something about watching the way he moves and the moves that can connect without a good player behind the stick makes him seem that way to me. Imagine if there was someone who was damn good at the game and familiar with duds moves in control in some footage. I have a feeling he is going to be stupid good.
@OP’s question,
Only because I don’t have a next gen system and don’t plan on getting one anytime soon. I actually enjoy playing sf4 although it is very different than 3s and oftentimes I find myself pressing twd to “Focus” an attack.
Daigo wants Urien and Yun in SSF4.

I still think Hakan is the worst SF character ever, but Seth is pretty high up there…
Never thought so many people had such harsh opinions towards SFIV.
Saying it’s a shit game and it sucks is something I’d expect from FPS players or something. I’m kind of used to THAT, but ‘fellow’ SF-players.
I play like both and this is the first time I’m checking out this part of the forum.
I feel like this is another dimension in the shoryuken.com forum!

A lot of fighting game players have hated 3rd Strike for years, and still do. It only got popular in America based on a sheer miracle(…at the time, it was a miracle anyway), but once people got fed up with Chun mirrors at Evo they decided to move on.
And honestly, I can play ANY other fighting game and still have fun for the most part. Street Fighter 4 is the only thing that has made me mad at video games since GGPO.

There’s little fellowship among people who play SF. ST players hate 3s, and 3s players hate SF4. And then some SF4 players start hating 3s to blend in with old school players.
glad they didn’t listen to daigo and put urien in or i’d have some needless internal conflict. my 3S dudley is already bad enough thanks to super. i can’t wait until this whole sf4 fiasco is behind us and the giant new “community” can move on to something i actually feel good about playing. as good as mvc3 looks, i’m worthless at marvel in general so i probably won’t even be able to be a part of that. and i’m not expecting it to replace sf4 in any way, of course.
Short answer: SF4 is a fighting game on training wheels, and the gameplay doesn’t appeal to me.
Long answer: They’re two entirely different games. 3S is more of a spin off than anything else, and if it weren’t called Street Fighter no one would compare it with ST or SF4. You may as well be comparing MVC 2 to Marvel Super Heroes. It all comes down to the gameplay and the comp. I love 3S for it’s unique gameplay, the parry system (love it or hate it some times), the mostly good comp, and everything else. SF4 isn’t a bad game, I think we can all agree that it’s not on par with shit like Ballz or Time Killers. But, it is dumbed down for the masses. As much as I enjoy the ST cast and new characters like Gouken, the gameplay is still dumbed down. There’s a fine line between being easy to pick up and difficult to master, and being made so retarded flipper-handed children can pull off SRK’s.
I’d play Time Killers over ASSF4 any day

I don’t consider myself to be a dedicated player of this, but I favor it more than the other Street Fighter games. I favor 3D fighting games, but Super Street Fighter 4 wasn’t exciting for me, but I gave it a chance. When I look at Capcom’s other graphics from the games they’ve made, they didn’t seem to take the time to make the appearance with great effort with this game. It reminded of what would Street Fighter characters would look like if they were from the game Crash Bandicoot, if you heard or seen it. So goofy. I think if you were to change Street Fighter to 3D, than make the game play 3D as well. If the game play is 2D, then make the graphics 2D. The 3D look and the 2D game play doesn’t make sense to me.
For the game play and characters, I don’t like nostalgia to be repeated so consistently and want something new and challenging. I do like the new characters Juri, Viper, Gouken, and my favorite from the Street Fighter Alpha series Gen, but the game play is empty for them. The recent Street Fighter now has made me hate Street Fighter 2 series and it’s characters for some reason.
I don’t like where the fighting genre is going, but things change. While I don’t play much video games, I want something that will last with me and not think about trading it to the game stop retail store. Street Fighter III 3rd Strike seem to have what I’m looking for, because it is one of the difficult 2D fighting games I can think of.
Yeah, I hear ya there.
I have been away from 3S for too long, I sure played ALOT of it over the years, I have been trying really hard to get into SSF4, but I really want to murder puppies sometimes seeing the easy mode garbage that appears to dominate and restrict the game play in SSF4.
I may have to sharpen up and jump back on the PC for some 3S action, the game is just so damn good, with an interesting learning curve, there is easy shit, then harder shit, then damn thats crazy shit, and 3S does really have it all.
I want a console arcade port…
Ah well, the Ponder/Damdai digital arcade land(s) beckon me…
Hey Shin you got a HDMI output on your laptop (My PS2 stick is worn out to the bone, lol.)? Youre like one of the only 3S guys left locally, I might be able to sweet talk Jinrai’s Oro of doom back in after Evo…
We could jive at Apoc too, thats easy, or my place, Who else was good? Shiro im sure, I dunno if Vesper would care enough, maybe his SSF4 rage will push him back over to the SF3 side, lol. If we snags a few of the boys im sure we could pry Killey in for a few rounds too… ;p
I feel old all of the sudden…
