3rd Strike Sprite Thread

dope, but can we get a guide?

^ seriously lol im like confuesd on what to do?

the problem with making a guide is that for alot of characters, the pictures from zweifuss and zytor delete redundant colors from palettes when you open them in photoshop, which messes up the very specific order needed to import them correctly to suppabuu’s program.

the way i’ve been editing is manually which is much more time consuming, but doesn’t need a really guide, just patience and lack of a life…

Step 1:

After you have your edit ready, open it and the original in photoshop.

Step 2: extract 51 rom file from the 3S archive and open in suupabu’s program (Pal Mod).

Step 3: when it opens select chun li from the menu,

I’ll be editing her LP costume so I chose 1 LP

Step 4: Download RGB_w2n which I have attached. open it and check both boxes (inside red circle), don’t worry that you can’t read what it’s saying.

Step 5: Back in PalMod, you’ll notice a Palette. All you have to do to change the color of different costumes is to change the colors you see. start with the consecutive shades of blue in the 5th row as obviously it pertains to the main part of chuns costume. move you mouse pointer to the 1st square in the 5th row and you’ll notice that RGB2WIN changes to that color. You’ll also notice that as the color changed the hex value as well as the RGB value changed, take note of these you’ll be using them in a second.

The 1st square had a Hex value of FF0B and an RGB Value of R: 181 G: 247 B: 247. Move you cursor over the original Blue chun, and the parts of her picture that has the same HEX/RGB values as the one in that first square will all change to whatever color I change that first square too.

Likewise, the next square in palmod represents a different area of chun costume and so on and so on.

So… to get your own edits into the game.

  1. Go to the first square note the Hex/Rgb.
  2. Find that hex/rgb on the actual character
  3. Point to that exact same spot on your edit.
  4. Change the old rgb value to the value form the one on your edit.

repeat until you’ve replaced all the colors.

Sorry for the mvks on the images. I just don’t want people stealing my sprites since i’m using them for a MK vs SF sprite comic. On the Mugen scene alot of people steal stuff and publish it as their own.

Those are really slick, good job.

There’s actually a thread for high-res sprites too, which is here:

Pretty cool. You should give this thread a look if you haven’t already.
