You should come over to 360, PSN makes my eyes bleed. So many Alex and Ken players spamming specials and relying entirely on dashes for their offense. I don’t understand how anyone can play in that environment. 90% of Dudley players use full screen EX MGB.
-_-0
I feel bad for the people who are actually trying to learn and improve.
I’ve been on 360 before, and it is better in general. But that isn’t entirely relevant to the issue I was having earlier today. It’s just annoying when you get caught between fighting only A) people with 10,000+ matches who are better than you because they’ve used that time wisely, and B ) people who clearly have worse fundamentals than you, but LAG SETPLAYS, YEAH. I love when I get a corner knockdown with Dudley, but can’t time my meaties, but they CAN time their reversals. I just want to be able to play in an environment where it is possible to hit confirm.
I have the unfortunate disposition of being unable to have fun losing in the context of online matches, but not willing to resort to blatant lag tactics. Like, I’ll use things that are strongER in lag, like Makoto, but I don’t deliberately use awful tactics that would get me blown up offline. Like, I fought a Dudley yesterday who practically did nothing but variable strength MGBs for footsies, and I lost, and it was very demoralizing. I know I’m bad compared to most people who still play this game, but at least I’m trying to actually learn the game. I just don’t see the point of spending a huge chunk of time on a fighting game with no intention of getting good at it. If you just want instant gratification, there are tons of other options.
They changed the netcode or something and the characters move kinda like a slow down version of 3s and it’s cool except when you want to make it speed up and start doing motions incrementally faster or drop out into a new pace.
3rd Strike still going strong on XBL?
Considering picking it up; I had it PSN when it first came out but since sold my PS3 stick.
I’m currently mostly playing on PC so my second question is do I just get it for fightcade? seems several of you all are using it.
I’ll post this combo here even if it might be a bit off-topic but fuck it, this seems to be one of the most active threads on here besides the official match vid thread. What I’m wondering is if this combo has been in a combo vid somewhere before or is it a “known” combo? I’m talking about the jump rh c.rh tackle tackle headbutt (or aegis into whatever) setup. As with my previous videos sorry for the glitching that’s going on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLQYldCkI1A
The XBL community has plenty of players, so you’ll hardly run into the same people. Connections aren’t too bad, but I would advise using a wired connection to have enjoyable matches. I don’t have Fightcade, so I can’t say anything. Trust me, xbox is not a bad choice.
I’ve never seen this particular combo in a match, but I’ve seen variations where the opponent bounces over Urien(via powerbomb, mostly) and he Tackles that direction.
^ Going off what he said, the combo is actually pretty common, but low roundhouse isn’t used as often as low forward due to start up and recovery. The low forward won’t pop them up though, so its an interesting way to get them back into the corner in that situation.
As for Xbox, plenty of people still playing, but not as many strong players as there used to be. If you don’t mind players who are still learning you can find a match in ranked or lobbies almost any time of day. Seems to me though that it’s more populated at night.
I was well aware that low forward into whatever is used quite often, the only reason I posted the combo was the cr. roundhouse launcher so you get the full corner combo afterwards which I hadn’t seen (or don’t remember seeing) even tho I’ve watched most of the combo videos available for urien. rKf is one of the only uriens who actually ever does jump-in roundhouses to begin those sorts of unblockables (in matches) and he also has plenty of videos on different types of weird/funky aegis combos.
I was also playing around with a reset which goes something like this jump-in roundhouse -> cr. fierce cancelled into ex headbutt -> walk forward -> jab into jab aegis -> st.mp cancelled into ex headbutt. Afterwards you can do a tackle under to set up an unblockable. If somebody can find a video of any type of non-corner reset setup with urien it would be really cool and if not I might do one myself.
Well I guess since it’s like Falzzi said and this thread is more active than the general discussion one, can anyone give advice on the Ibuki/Dudley match up? From what I’ve seen in videos f + MK confirm is good against her, and you can Jet Upper her after EX dragon kick.
Here’s the reset I was talking about, not the exact same combo but something similiar. I currently can’t test how hard the mp into headbutt is to parry after the reset but I don’t think it’s on the easier side of the difficulty spectrum considering the timing and the aegis hit mixing it up, also if you do an ex headbutt instead of a normal one after the reset you’d think that would also increase the difficulty of the parry.
it looks like the headbutt is the last thing to hit before the knockdown, so the opponent could just quickrise out of the unblockable. that would make it an inefficient use of a full bar. one of the drawbacks of using an emulator to practice these setups is that the dummy cant quickrise or autoguard anything.
Good point. That’s only the video tho, I’m pretty sure you can do just headbutt and get the last hit to be one of the aegis hits. My fault for not showing that, was getting frustrated with the setup I’m using to record these vids with and I’m currently in the process of trying to use a .lua script I got to do all the quickrising and recording and whatever. The setup is in no way practical that’s for sure, all this is just for shits and giggles basically.
Tried using Yun again the last couple days. Losing more than I win, 1/4 of the matches I win the opponent drops, even when I don’t win with a genei jin combo. Sigh.
