Eh, I don’t know about that. CONTRA is a classic, yes, but that doesn’t necessarily entitle it to “Best Run-N-Gun Ever” in my opinion. Metal Slug has huge, creative levels, fantastic animation, really hard bosses, and enemies that have personality – AND BLOOD!!! lol I love the CONTRA series, but after Alien Wars, the series just started getting kind of…old. Again, just my opinion.
OH!!! By the way: has anyone ever had the privilege of playing Dolphin Blue? Now, that is a cool Run-N-Gun! It runs on the AtomisWave and plays a lot like Metal Slug. I’m almost positive that it was only released in Japan, but if, by some stroke of luck, you ever run into a machine take 15 minutes to try it out. It’s a lot of fun!!! You can watch some footage on YouTube. Just search “Dolphin Blue” without the quotations, obviously.
Yup, I’ve played all those but I really like Marvel like play(being able to tag in your team member) 2003 offers. When I bought the 2002 and 2003 version for the x-box, I though I would be playing 2002 like crazy. I had been playing that on the DC for a long time. But, no one seemed to play so I got on 2003 and fell in love with it. I wasn’t very crazy about neowave. It seemed too slow in my opinion. I love 98. But I still like the variety I have with 2003.
