Lies. I hear people complain about Urien/Makoto all the time. But usually, the complaints look like “random Aegis bullshit” or “random Karakusa bullshit” or “Makoto is bullshit in general.”
For the record, this thread is retarded.
In Japan, there is variety between who is played. In the US, it’s Yun/Chun/Ken all day. Not that that’s a bad thing (I mean, in SC3 every tourney was won by either X, Sophie, or VC Mitsu. That game’s broken, though), but that’s how I see it. There isn’t gonna be much new stuff anymore, but if people like it, they will play it.
Shut your uneducated mouth. There’s an actual reason why we banned Akuma and the Japanese force you to use whoever you end up with if you fuck up the code. When a character has across the board 9-1/10-0 matchups(something that neither Chun or Yun have, as bad as you think they are), then you go “omg ban”. Until some noname scrub waltzes into Evo/SBO and takes everyone’s money with elementary Chun, the game is fine as it is.
On that note, I’m surprised this is still open. I won’t touch it though. Not yet at least.
Actually Viscant was a little off; the recommendation wasn’t to ban characters, but to ban supers. Without their supers Chun, Yun and Ken aren’t that impressive. Chun loses almost all of her pressure and offence, Ken doesn’t have a million links into super anymore and Yun can’t play ghetto Wolverine style.
I think it’s something that could be seriously considered in favor of balance, HOWEVER, those playing money tournaments WILL cry bloody fucking murder because they want to take advantage of all the trumps possible.
I thought if you fucked up the code, you auto-lost.

the japs came to evo and ruined 3rd strike
you called jay out and he responded with some good points, while your response (not to mention previous post) is just empty name calling.
So basically you are right, it IS obvious to tell who knows the game and who doesn’t.
how would this negate his point that the only effect would to make urien and makato the new top tier?
At the very least, it’s obvious who the fanboys are.
Never said anything about this; but I guess people like to jump to conclusions. Basically, CYK are still playable, yes, although they can no longer use their game breaking supers. This simply drops them down the tier list, as you said. However the farther you go down the tier list the less likely you are to decide the outcome of the battles when pitting two fighters together. For example, taking Chun and Oro and pitting them against each other, more often than not people would place their bet on Chun. However, with a different top tier there are more uncertainties simply because the new top tier were under the old top tier. And … I know I’ve lost you here. It’s difficult to explain. I’ll use another analogy;
Let’s say that since CYK are top, they’re represented by the number 10 in such a chart;
CYK = 10
And because MU are below them, they’ll be 9
MU = 9
And of course everyone below MU are 1-8. Anyone in the 1-8 category has to work against MU, but even MORE so against CYK.
Losing the supers CYK become 8, so now it’s
MU = 9
CYK = 8
And everyone else still 1-8. So instead of working doubly towards a 10 (the old CYK), the 1-8 characters only have to work towards a 9.
Does that make sense? It makes sense to me. In a nut shell, there’s a new top tier, but the mid tier characters aren’t working as hard as they were against CYK back when they had access to their game breaking supers.
People that thought 3S was balanced are funny to begin with.
As I was once told by one of the OG SF Players: 3S is a 50/50 guessing game because of parry. Sure if you guess wrong you eat it but its more then worth the risk because chances are you will guess right.
Maybe now we can finally kill the myth that GG is balanced as well.
I don’t understand all this whining from one tournament. You had huge money on the line, and people came through with the absolute best characters. Doesn’t mean that other characters don’t have a chance, but in a situation like this, where you have the world’s best, of coures Yuns, Chuns, and Ken come to the top. But do any of you really think if these three were banned that the players at the top would be any different? Stop whining about game balance. Nothing new has come out about these characters, either learn to beat them or give up like viscant said.
Don’t forget Close MP, Close HP, Fireball into Shippu with Ken.
I feel stupid for asking this but didn’t Capcom already make that update when they made Street Fighter ONE?
Eureka! At next year’s Evo we should replace all the games with SFI. That way nobody can complain about players using high-tier characters or overpowered moves.

I didn’t call Viscant out to argue, I said I couldnt even take his argument(s) seriously, which I don’t. I think his (and some others) logic is just way off and thats that.
I was going to respond to him with some points…but after the “sf3 has no o.sagat/guile” shit, I just left that alone…:lol:
No point in arguing with anyone here who doesn’t even play the game enough to understand why the game is not ‘ruined’ or broken or anything.
:rolleyes:

Dude, 3S is NOT ST ok? Deal with it. 3S was never designed with a sustained long range game in mind. Otherwise instead of O.Sagat we’d be playing Remy in exactly the same way. It would just be ST with prettier graphics. As for Issei buffering parry in air, have you ever tried it yourself? It bloody hard to buffer in a parry in the air, when you don’t know what anti-air is going to be coming at you, at what point in the jump, whether its a multiple hit, or whether its a bait to cancel into a super, or whether they are going to just dash behind your jump, or try jumping back with an attack.
Jumping is actually giving the opponent the advantage, but in Yun’s case, he can pressure so much from the air with divekicks so quickly you don’t know what he’s going to do, so Yun can afford to take risks like that.
If parries were gone then the game would be even more broken than before(yes 3S has character balance issues just like every other game surprise!), since you don’t have parry Yun could just keep you in block stun waiting for an opening. Think A3 V-ism Akuma.
The discussion is moot (with regards to balance) because what the Japanese top players did here was come into a MONEY (key word) tournament and pick the characters with the biggest advantage. In this case they’re probably happy that tiers exist. Of course they’re solid players (except for that one Yun that did random dash-palms and got thrown like a retard … that was embarrasing, but I digress) but the characters simply build on an already solid foundation (the player behind the controller/stick).
With regards to balance, there is a lot of shit that could be done, but in the end the top players in money tournaments would STILL go with whatever character has the advantage, no matter how small.
Theres ways around chun/yun and ken just deal with it and stop bitching
