3rd Strike has made me realize how much SFIV sucks

If its PS3 can I get an invite? looptron3000

yep, the game with parries is the normal sf and the game without feels “wrong”

3s is anal cause its the best

3rd Strike has made me realize how it isn’t a real Street Fighter game.

It is much more like an anime fighter.

i like 3rd strike more then anything but since no balance changes, the modern players just scrape up the new comers way too easily. Game will die once umvc3 and sfxtekken come out. Move along people

Seriously. This is as stupid as comparing Super Turbo to 3S.

Just enjoy 3S or SF4 or both or neither. I know 3S heads don’t like it when their game gets shitted on, so why do that to SF4?

Balance changes wouldn’t change 10 years of experience. Balance changes wouldn’t change 1 year of experience. Rebalancing wouldnt help a beginner in the least. Hell, people say how balanced SF4 is (bullshit) That doesn’t mean some new guy is gonna randomly beat Valle or Justin

I’d say the better comparison would be ST and SF4 since both have the same basic fighting game engine and the same roster.

When ST came out in the arcade in America, no one played it. SF2 peaked with Hyper Fighting. There was a lot of hype for the new challengers but when you played it and it was much slower than HF it died fast. Super New Challengers was a big dissapointment because a lot of arcades bought it with the new expensive Q Sound machine. Super Turbo was Capcom’s apology to Super (Sound familiar) but by the time it came out it was too late and plus Super Turbo computer setting super hard in America to sell a lot of quarters for vendors.

It was also hard to find an ST machine because a lot of people didn’t want to invest. Third Strike also flopped when it was released. The whole entire Alpha Series when released in the arcades was so popular. It’s ironic that the Alpha series hasn’t aged well with players.

forget it, dude, you’re obviously not a creative person. you’re a consumer–got it. must be fun having no imagination. i was basically connecting the artistic design aspect of the game to the gameplay, but never mind. i’ll put my tinfoil hat back on.

This thread should be closed, nothing good has come out of it whatsoever.

yeah 3S definitely plays a lot differently than SFIV, but I wouldn’t say ones better than the other. Just different gameplay styles really.

SF4 feels like, uh, a good game.

Put a fighting game in front of me and I’ll play it.

I like ST, 3s, CvS2, SF4, and many more. Why do people have to act like you can’t like all the SF games?

3s was a good game, but let’s not kid ourselves. It had it’s share of flaws that turned the casual gamer off to it.

After playing SFIV (and after playing 3S a lot again) I’ve come to realization that more things feel like the older SF games in 3S than in SFIV. I was never one of those guys that picked up SFIV and was like “oh yeah this is more like Super Turbo”. It was more like “wow this is more unlike a SF game than any SF game I’ve ever played”. The mechanics in every way IMO are so off from any other SF game it’s just ridiculous. I just can’t play SFIV anymore and consider it a SF game like the older games. It just doesn’t have that feel that the older games did and it’s just as much of its own game IMO as 3S. The only thing that’s remotely similar is you can’t parry fireballs but there’s so many ways to get around fireballs especially in the latest version of the game that it doesn’t really matter.

Everything about SFIV is just…some new game that’s trying really hard to be like SF2 but as someone who’s been playing many of the older Capcom fighters for a long time there’s just way too many things that are off in SFIV for my tastes. It feels more like someone tried to re create SF with a whole new engine than something that really plays like the older games. Especially when it comes to AE I just don’t see what’s in SFIV that people can really see and be like “yeah this is the way SF used to be”. It’s just…not there for me.

When I want something that plays more like the older games I just reach for Super Turbo because SFIV does that for me less than 3S does. Maybe SFIV fools people that just played SF2 for the fireball chucking but any one who actually plays SF seriously knows that shit barely plays anything like the older games in a lot of ways. In pretty much the same way that MVC3 barely plays anything like MVC2. Sure Ryu can shoot fireballs and Magneto can air dash but from there the games are crazy different. There’s too many basic things about SF that work better IMO in SF3 and ESPECIALLY ST than they do in SFIV.

Competitively SFIV is a fine game but for me it does nothing to re create what it was like to play the older SF games. The mechanics are completely different in every aspect to the point where I just can’t play SFIV with any seriousness anymore because it just feels nothing like ST or 3S.

Definitely don’t think the game “sucks”. I just think it’s completely overhyped as a game that lives up to the traditions of the older SF games because IMO it just flat out plays like none of them. At least SF3 purposely tried to make itself different from the other SF games while still retaining tight block strings, solid throw games, consistent hit boxes and meaty situations. SFIV tried to make itself look like it plays like SF2 or some of the older SF games but as soon as I press buttons in it just nothing feels like the older games at all.

We all at least agree that Alpha 3 sucks, right?

Both 3s and SF4 suck badly. They are fun as hell but they are bad.

You want a real SF game?

Play Alpha 2.

IT’S STILL REAL TO ME DAMNIT!!!

lol at people complaining about OS in sf4 while praising 3s

This^^^^ seriously
