24 hour stream-a-thon and 1 last battle at FFA december 15th!

No 3S and no Rockafeller make Louis something something…

i am just waking up and letting all of last nights events sink in. it has definitely been a roller coaster of ups and downs through out the last months from setting up the event, to asking friends for favors to show up and make it happen, and then sitting back and hoping people would come out to support. all of the anticipation leading up to this was carrying a huge toll on me from start to finish. we had a very poor internet connection and wound up starting almost 3 hours late in order to resolve that issue. then i had to deal with trying to catch up to scheduling and answering so many questions about what time is this starting and what time is that starting. the high point was starting around 1pm FFA was jam packed. i have not seen an arcade this packed ever. not even during our crazy turnouts at WNF and TRB can compare. place was just going nuts, all the arcade cabs were getting played, consoles were running full force to complete tourneys, everyone was just having a great time. the atmosphere was incredible to say the least. anyways, i just wanted to get a quick post out there to thank everybody who made this event possible. thank you to all the people who helped out with setting up. thank you to all the people who went out of there way to show up. thank you to all the people who were kind and generous enough to help donate to help ralph out in his time of need. and most of all, thank you FGC for showing us why we are the best!
yes we got shut down barely halfway into the event, yes people were let down, but ill be damned if people werent extremely supportive at what happened to be an abrupt end to a crazy and amazing event. i truly hope ralph will remember this forever and i hope everyone that was there will remember that feeling of just being a part of something so much bigger than any individual.

apologies to all those who didnt get to finish their tourneys, or get started for that matter. its something that bothers me greatly and im going to try and find a way to make it up somehow. the 3s crew, the air dashers, all of whom waiting patiently and had their time taken away by some young hot shot pig with no sense courtesy. sorry you guys didnt get to have story time by me and wizard, sorry you didnt get to have ask dr sub0 live, and sorry you didnt get to have the full experience that we wanted for everyone.

once again big thanks to all for supporting, i wish it couldve ended better, but for my first run at this i think it went just about as good as possible and hope we can continue to grow as a community. long live the FGC and thank you.

Not trying to be a dick but why have hours of SF4 and Vampire casuals -Were they tournaments? Didn’t seem like it, everyone was playing casual- over a 63* man 3S tournament? I get ST running first because you had a few of the legends there and it’s ST. But why run 3S so unbelievably late? I was up until 5AM (Beast Coast!) waiting for 3S and the return of Ask Dr. Subzero and I was denied. The community support for FFA was awesome and that’s great and all but come on. Priorities were out of order to say the least.

*Correction.

I think the thing that pisses me off the most isn’t the delay or techinical difficulties because honestly that falls under the shit happens claus but the fact that some cop had to be big dickin at a god damn charity event. FUCK ME!! For every one cool cop, you get a grab bag of dicks. No fucking class not a god damn ounce. I hope the next time that motherfucker is big dickin he gets one of those crazy assholes on the side of the rode who gets pulled over for speeding and that guys is packin so much fuckin heat that he could show the human torch a thing or two about firepower. Flame On!

I don’t hate law enforcment but damn that got me hot.

The battle can’t end yet, man.

This shit needs to finish sometime, someplace, somehow.

So thats what happened?

I was there for an hour with my son around 4pm. I came back around 3am and shit was closed, leaving me with a WTF.

I enjoyed the stream and it looked like everyone was having a blast. I think the highlights for me were hearing Tomo and Jeff telling their stories. Also, the TTT2 matches were really great as well as Ancient Valle throwing Shining Wizards on everyone.

why was Vsav and ssf4 CASUALS on while people were posting on fb about the awesome MvC2 team tourneys that was going on? I missed out on David Lee and Dark Prince! >:(

other than that, good stream and I wish you all the best

There were only 2 stream stations, 1 for console, 1 for head to head jap cabs. ST was played on the jap cabs, but for whatever reasons, they swapped it out for VS.

Since the awesome MVC2 and CVS2 tourney happened on other cabinets, there would be no way to get the stream setup there. Hopefully somebody bothered to record it.

since we are using the “not trying to be a dick line” lemme try not to be a dick too. do you really think we were running sf4 casuals on stream? or perhaps there was a SF4 tourney going on?? by you saying it didnt seem like it was a tourney should i say sorry that it was? there was 1 set of head to head cabs used for streaming and a console stream station set up right next to that. these were the only 2 stations that could be streamed from. the place was packed, so if we put a popular game in the jap h2h cab there wouldve been absolutely no room. and we were planning to run 3s late cause thats what the majority requested. it might be unbelievable late to you, but you have no clue about what the 3s crew from ffa wanted so blame them. running so many tourneys back to back is not easy and keeping a schedule for what was supposed to be a 24hr stream is tough. you were denied the viewing of 3s and dr sub 0 live not cause of me or my team. you were denied this cause of some prick pig. for you to say “priorities were out of order” you are voicing your opinion and as 1 person who didnt even bother attending the event, im gonna go ahead and say (without trying to be a dick obv) that your opinion doesnt matter. i planned this tourney to accommodate the actual participants and guest speakers. thanks for your input though.

not trying to be a dick-
watson

That was a tournament? Wow. If that was a real tournament for SF4 and Marvel then I don’t think anyone gave a fuck. Everyone seemed bored including the commentators. I liked the stuff with Tomo for ST though.

So Mr. sensitive, who is this majority that requested Shit Fighter 4 and Marvel 3 to take center stage? Because I feel for the 3S players that made the trip and waited outside in the cold for hours while casual matches were going on. And the Marvel 2 players. Unbelievably late? Not even taking time zone difference into consideration 3S would’ve started at what? 3 or 4AM? If that’s not unbelievably late you’re either lying to your self or suffering from Alzheimers. Shocking considering 3S had **63 entrants **(Thanks Akuma-HAX). Plus it’s 3S… the game FFA is kinda’ famous for… I think the majority would agree that it would take a precedent over shitty casual matches no one cares about.

The tournament should’ve been planned for the players and not bullshit.

Vsav was indeed a tournament at the time during the stream. The tournament did conclude here were the results:

1st - Rotanibor (Zabel)
2nd - Diar (Morrigan, Lilith)
3rd - SLEDGE (Anakaris)
4th - Zeppeli (Sasquatch)
5th - ShinATproof (Felicia) [Winners Semis and Losers Semis DQs]
5th - Jason D (Morrigan)
7th - Grom (
7th - Kane77 (Lei-Lei)
9th - Id (Lilith) [Losers DQ]
9th - Amanda (Gallon) [Losers DQ]
9th - LLND (Lei-Lei) [Winners DQ, played out losers]
9th - Mike Z (Lei-Lei)
13th - Ike (Jedah) [Losers DQ]
13th - Royal Flush [DQ’d fully]
13th - Necromancer (Sasquatch) [Losers DQ]
13th - Tronzilla (Aulbath) [Winners DQ, played out losers]
17th - Matt (Jedah) [Winners DQ]
17th - Herzog (Demitri) [Losers DQ]
[12/16/2012 12:15:50 PM] Rotanibor: 17th - Viynl21 [DQ’d without playing]

Tons of DQ’s were had in this tournament. Some were caused by people leaving to go out to eat and not returning in time. Others were caused by people pulling a disappearing act all together.

Marvel 2 players DID get there tournament. They ran 2 tournaments, team and singles. So don’t go throwing around stuff that’s not true. No one was waiting outside in the cold for hours because they weren’t ALLOWED to wait outside in the cold.

You are really asking why UMVC3 and SSF4 took priority over MvC2 and 3S? I couldn’t tell if you were serious or not. 3 or 4am is NOT late if you take into consideration 2 things:

  1. It was suppose to be a 24 hour event so “late” is irrelative because their was plenty of time left over
  2. If you know FFA at all, you would know they used to close at 4-5am ish and players for mvc2 and 3s used to show up around midnight to start playing and tournies would go til the morning so the community kept it oldschool keeping that tradition.

And like Watson said, it wasn’t casuals you were watching, it was a tourney. If you can see pics/footage at all of how crowded it was and how long it would take people to get from one side of the arcade to the other, you would understand the delays. I’m sure the 09ers would love to see 3S (a game they have never heard of) over SSF4 and UMVC3 (the games they got into the scene for). That makes a lot of sense.

I just have to say it was great seeing everyone there and even though the place was a bit crowded it was still a great event. It actually made me me a bit happy seeing FFA with so many players using all the cabinets.

Thanks Ralph for running this arcade for so many years and the levelup crew for delivering this farewell party. I haven’t been this sad for an arcade closing down since SHGL shut its doors.

What’s done is done. We can sit here and argue about a lot of things but how about we atone for what happened?

Mike, how about you ask Ralph to keep the arcade open this Friday to redo 3rd Strike and maybe throw in some kind of prizes for those that didn’t get what they came for?

I think this is the easiest solution to anything. We don’t need a stream, we just want to play, but if you can do that for us, we wouldn’t mind either.

Watson thanks for the stream and trying to make all that chaos work. I know this whole thing was kinda a one time deal, but would it be possible to do an old mans weekly/bi-weekly or even hell a monthly that way loser has to wait a whole month. Just like say Super Turbo, 3s, Marvel 2 and maybe KOF 98 if the means are there. I really enjoy what you guys are doing and understand that your guys’s plate is really full as is. Anyways thanks.

Guys/Gals…

It goes without saying that it was disappointing that the event was cut short with 3s yet to be showcased.

But somewhere, somehow, the whole point of the 24hr streamathon got lost. I hope Watson agrees that THIS WAS NOT A MAJOR TOURNEY. The whole point of this event was to relive the Golden Age of the Arcade Scene, raise money for Ralph, and ultimately say “thanks”. There was a method to this madness (facetiously speaking, of course).

As far as

. Not sure where he got this info from since he didn’t attend, the temperature never dipped below 52 the entire day (So-Cal Weather…yeah) the coldest it got was 48.

Anyway, i hope we can all just let go of this “how to rectify this” kind of thinking.

Watson is legit, we can hold him to this, alright. Everybody chill.

In 3RD STRIKE When a stock of Super meter fills you hear…

LETS GO!!

Starting a round with STRONG Shoulder, I think he knew that you knew that its an option, now everybody playing Yun will copy Michael F.Jordan over here…

No one knows me here, and the scene in México, and i doubt Ralph will see this, but just wanted to leave this here.

THANK YOU, for giving your life and effort to this place, for believing that this is just not a game, for believing in the community and making history while giving history, without FFA, i wouldnt be doing this, my efforts to help the community in México, started as a commentator, learn to stream, learn what it really means. I am trying to push competitive gaming in México and its not an easy job, your legacy is another step in the right direction to help us achieve that and an example that things CAN be done with enough PASSION and LOVE for the things you do. I cannot stress enough that without you (and i mean EVERYONE that is part of the community) i wouldnt be able to say that i know what i want to dedicate my life to. I really want to go to EVO, maybe in 2014 i can afford it (and ill be 21 for vegas! WOOT!) and i hope to thank personally to everyone and every pillar of this community that has helped me realize that all of this is worth it, so.

THANK YOU, and please keep the community alife! Im doing my job in México
