Guys, (prospect) baseball:
Josh Bell striking out swinging vs Tyler Glasnow.
Bad: 3 pitch strikeout for one of the top hitters in the system (from the side of the plate he prefers)
Good: Glasnow’s stuff is all about swing and miss and Josh got the bat on the ball twice.
Hanson (2nd baseman who I want to see steal the 2b job this year but will likely be up in a utility role some time this year) singles off Taillon (pitcher coming off years of injury who could really solidify the back of the rotation if he can get back to pre-injury form).
Ian Desmond signed with the Rangers for $8M, interesting article to skim about how Ian Desmond pretty much lost $100M in free agency.
Rangers gave up a first round pick but, this team can’t draft first round talent for shit so I’m not mad. Rangers are willing to fill the corner outfield spots with anyone and have been trying out infielders. I think trying out players in new positions seems to be trending for role players and teams that are desperate to find production. This isn’t an entirely new concept but I think I’ll keep a closer eye out for other teams doing this sort of thing. This Desmond move sort of reminds me of the Pirates Jaso acquisition.
I’m surprised they only gave him a 1 year contract after losing a draft pick. I guess it’s because he’s a bit of a flyer if he can play left but still…
The pirates FO is huge on positional flexibility. We gave Sean Rodriguez two and a half million dollars for fucks sake. But more to the point our AAA defense has a crazy amount of permutations. We have one defensive wizard at Short(Ngoepe), 2 kids that can play anywhere (Fraizer/Moroff - 2nd,3rd,short,OF[Fraizer]) and Hanson at 2nd who is a converted short stop*.
*converted mainly because his mental mistakes at SS were affecting his bat and the switch did wonders.
e: also people were crazy high on Zobrist this offseason because of his fielding utility (which I really hope falls off because he’s 35).
Nobody needs a shortstop I guess :looney:
We’ll he’s a left fielder now.
‘Real’ baseball today. Lobstein took the mound against his old team (DET) and Cervelli and MERCER(!!!) hit home runs.
Chapman got sat for 30 games. He won’t appeal.
I was just kidding, besides, if the Rockies actually wanted a shortstop then Tulo wouldn’t have been traded.
Yo, rictorxix, someone posted a gif of that anime you suggested and the real life version of the play on reddit:
Nice, Kuramochi/Haruichi for GOAT double play duo. I didn’t even know that shit was real. I just thought they were using their anime super powers. The show is pretty accurate with its baseball stuff, except for the fact it’s high schoolers with MLB skills.
Is that on Reddit MLB or something?
/r/baseball - /r/mlb sucks
The japs rly appreciate MLB
I need to buy a goddamned ps4:
That’s the Korean box but I’ve heard great things about The Show. Right, Nick?

Japanese make the best games, including baseball ones (play this video with music on for maximum effect)
The Show is the best baseball game (by default since they got the license thereby ending EAs MVP Baseball which was the best version at the time…) tho it took them an embarrassingly long time to get brand names in the game but now players actually have stuff like nike cleats and marrucci bats. No EVOshields tho
Road to The Show is crack its like a baseball RPG
Also on the topic of baseball games how the fuck do we not have a 9-on-9 mode in baseball games yet? Or at least more than 1-on-1 even madden let u do multiple ppl per team
9-on-9 mode would be alright but, licensing rights means these companies don’t have to do shit. It would probably be more fun than online NBA2K which, consists of motherfuckers rushing to pick a point guard then taking 3 point shot no matter what lol.
Here is the boring ass rundown of all my baseball games I owned:
I had an electronic baseball game as a kid where you had a keypad that controlled these lightbulbs representing players. It was fun at the time
First baseball video game I had was Roger Clemens baseball for NES. That game was pretty bad in retrospect but it was definitely playable at the time.
I also owned Triple Play Baseball for PC which was a standard baseball game. It was cool but had little customization outside player rosters.
After that I had MVP baseball 2005 for GameCube and MLB 2K5, 2K6, and 2K7 for XBox 360. MVP was good but 2K series sucked nuts.
I want to try those Neo Geo baseball games and Ken Griffey SNES game at least once.
I think i played nearly every baseball game made at least once? Not sure about some of the early years before MLB and MVP. Used to have the MLB 2001 cover with Barry posterized on my bedroom door. But it used to be my goal to get atleast one 9-inning game in on every baseball game with my brother
