Chris Davis seems like a Mariners type of player. M’s want to trade Trumbo so they’ll have an open slot for Davis. New GM wants to make a big splash so Davis seems logical. Overpay him while he underperforms for most of his contract. Surprised Nelson Cruz hasn’t been hit with the Mariners curse yet.

Pedro just can’t play in the field, 2nd worst defender in the majors. His future was foretold when he wasn’t started in the WC game. Huntington said the trade market for him was nonexistent.

Pedro is a platoon DH guy who can’t hit lefties and can’t field even first base - the fact that the Pirates couldn’t find a taker for him means the rest of the league doesn’t really like him at a projected $8 million either.

I suspect teams are just holding out for Adam Lind, who is apparently available - another platoon DH guy and also costs $8 million.

But Lind doesn’t suck as much as Pedro at first, and Lind mashes RHP even more…versus righties, Lind hit .291/.380/.503 and Pedro hit .240/.322/.477

But if a team like Baltimore picks up Pedro to share the DH spot for like $5 million or something, that wouldn’t be too bad at all.

Actually Pedro Alvarez would be a vintage Oakland pickup.

I wouldn’t mind Blanton going in place of Locke. Guy was fire after we traded for him. Just do dual starts with those guys Locke first 3-4 innings then give the ball to Joe in the 4th-5th to get the game to the 8th. I’d be okay with that situation.

Morton is still here and would be the 3 over those two, I think he’s good enough to be a 3/4. Well… if he’s on he’s a 3 but the dude is really streaky. He had some games where his curve looked like Kershaw’s. Then other games he couldn’t get the ball to break for a damn and doesn’t have any other pitches that are near as good to fall back on.
