I don’t get how people can make arguments that characters like Cody or Ryu or Rolento aren’t top tier when the best players in the world have consistently won tournaments with them, and are clearly playing them because they’re strong and not out of character loyalty. I’m pretty sure Tokido and Infiltration know how to evaluate a character, and probably better than nearly anyone posting here.
Sagat never won a tournament in Vanilla. She Hulk was the best character in Vanilla UMVC3.
Tournament results are only part of the equation, player opinions are only another piece. Basing your evaluation on only one slice of the pie is dumb.
Sort of…you’ll just have to pay more attention to the type of pressure your opponent’s applying. I started using MK more in anticipation of this change, instead of LK, just go for Raw Launch. In a pinch EX will still work the same. I hardly ever use the HK on myself. Buffed Chrome Dome stuff will be worth going for more too.
I almost feel like picking up Cody in 2013 just to humiliate all the salty players that dropped him.

That and I still hold she’s better than she was before.
I want to see everyone who plays Julia to stick with her in 2013. I want them all to prove me wrong in saying “they only picked her up because of her cr. lk, cr. mk bullshit safe chain.”
Julia was very derpy in 2012.
I think she’s better in 2013, but less derp for sure.

I’m strongly considering picking up Juri. I haven’t decided who my second character will be however.
I admit you never use cr. lk, cr. mk bs. The only thing is, you gotta actually win to convince the scumbag Julia’s to stop using it as well!

I may pick up Asuka as well. It depends on how much of a buff her c. HK got. If I do though it won’t be with Juri.

I’m actually like meh when I found out that Ryu/Juri is a wee bit too mainstream in this game.
It was actually a popular team during the first few weeks… and then people started dropping Asuka left and right >.>
I normally don’t post anymore but I will add to this that Dudley can do s.MK, s.HK, s.HP target combo and link a far standing HP behind that. And he can launch and depending on who his partner is do 40 percent or more on a luanch combo meterless. So when I saw his nerfs in damage I wasn’t to shocked. Hurt since he has been hitting hard since the SF3 series but no surprised in the least bit,
I blame part of that popularity on my combo video…
That and we had alot of good minds working on that team at launch.

In all seriousness, it’d be interesting to see what you do with her, and who you’d team her up with. I think she’d fit you: a tiny bit of Ibuki, a lil’ bit of Ryu, mixed in with a divekick.
Anything but that.
It’s a pretty good team though although their synergy damage is not as high compared to the other teams I’ve watched, or maybe I’m just pushing the wrong buttons.
