What I ment by a Linebacker fearing the WR is them getting behind them and not being able to cover them, stuck in man to man where if they break the tackle there is only the safety to beat.
Some Linebackers in the league hate to see a Larry fitzgerald when he is rotated to there side and they have to face him Man t Man, same with Mike Wallace who is tall,fast but not strong.

I didn’t say Desean isn’t a #1 WR ONLY because he won’t block downfield, I used that as an example.
Most if not ALL #1 WR’s in this league are not just streak route runners, Calvin johnson,Andre johnson,Larry Fitzgerald.
Desean wants there kind of money yet he won’t catch on 3rd in 3 slants, he won’t do anything explosive outside streak routs, you can’t depend on him to constantly help you move the chains and because of the undersized play of the Eagles WR Core, McCoy is easier to stop, linebackers do not fear these guys speed because if they knock them off there routes, Desean jackson is going to straight give up and eliminate himself from the play.

I didn’t say the Greatest show on turf was easy to shut down, I stated that when they were shutdown, the example of them being shutdown was defensive players being physical with them, ala the patriots in the superbowl.

I didn’t say on 3rd and 3 is NOT when you want the speed on the field, I said on 3rd and 3 with all that speed on the field… THEY STILL CANNOT MOVE THE CHAINS!!!
I gave the reason why they struggle to move the chains in those circumstances, which is the fact that the WR’s despite there speed don’t break open and either give Vick options or spread the field enough for McCoy or Brown to gather those yards, if speed was always the end all be all then the Eagles would dominate left and right, perfect example, look at the dame Patriots, Wes Welker, Edelman,Dranch, Ocho (Who gets way less balls thrown his way) hernandez & gronkowski. Wes Welker is the speed on that core, he goes across the middle,streak etc yet he converts on 3rd and 3, Deion Branch ain’t shit compared to Maclin or Jackson, hernandez and Gronkowski are large individuals but not as speedy and Linebackers can’t cover them either but look at how often they get the rock and produce for there offense.
I am not saying the Eagles are the same exact team but they have enough weapons to spread the field for McCoy to convert a damn 3rd and 3 or for R.brown to convert M.Vick or themselves!!!

Don’t dis Jason Avant, have you not watched the first 3 games??
Did you not see him in game one be the possession WR that Maclin is suppose to be, he got more catches then D.Jackson I think total this season.

As someone who sees Jackson play every week - you’re wrong simply due to the fact that it’s way the Eagles use him. Period.

There’s not one CB in the league that can stay with Jackson, so they always use him to clear the field for the underneath routes. It allowed Maclin to burn the Falcons. Anytime you see an Eagles WR have a big game on possession routes it’s because the safety is helping out with Jackson the majority of the time. Maclin and Avant have been and always will be primarily possession receivers (Avant more on 3rd down) in our offense while Jackson is the home run hitter. When Jackson does run possession routes, he usually either turns it into a big gain or scores. He turns 10 yard passes into TDs. If he has one big gain early in the game, our offense usually does whatever they want for the remainder of the game simply because of the fear they of Jackson.

Downplaying him is silly.

Look… I’m not gonna get into everything you said that doesn’t make sense because I’d be here all day and I know you just LOVE to get into back-and-forths. So I’m just gonna hit a couple of things and let it go.

#1 Jason Avant has 0 speed. He gets covered by linebackers on the regular. He’s just got really great hands (or at least he does sometimes. He’s dropped a few). Steve Smith is better than him running the same routes and he has considerably more speed. I like Avant, but he’s slow as hell.

#3 Djax runs other routes and he has gotten lots of yards on reverses, crosses, and curls. But his role in this offense is to take the cover off the defense and take as many players with him so Maclin can have games where he goes 13 for 171 and 2 tds and McCoy goes 24 for 128.

There isn’t a more explosive player with the ball in his hands in the entire NFL. I’ll let you argue with me if you say Mike Wallace or Hester. But as we all know, Hester sucks as a wr.

Despite the point you just made and I made previously about them having so much speed on the field, why can they not convert on 3rd and shorts then??

Jason being slow doesn’t ignore the fact that he has shown he is more dependable in short yardage situations then there #1 WR. he had more receptions then D.Jackson last season and looks like he will this season, The Giants, Redskins & Cowboys have all gone on record stating that D.jackson was/is soft, lay him out once and he’s done, Green bay proved that last season.
My original point was with all those weapons how can the Eagles still struggle in short yardage and goal line, I know I am not the only person who see’s this, the Giants game shows evidence there is a problem with the so called “dynamic wr core” especially with the giants secondary being depelted with injuries and depending even more on there pass rush then ever before.

CTG just made a point about how explosive he is when in short yardage, his YAC potential etc…

Last season he went missing just like this but people ignored it because he had some pretty good flash points.

I am not down playing D.Jackson, he down plays himself with 47 receptions and thinks speed will always be the feature he can use to in order to get #1 Money, ask Santana Moss what happened when he attempted to base his career off of speed alone.
Percy Harvin is slower yet just as Dynamic, goes across the middle how is that ignored??
Miles Austin also, So does Wes Welker!!
How is it justified that be get the “Dynamic” title yet not put in the same work as others with similar height low weight issues
Not saying Percy is a #1 but he damn sure is Vikings #1 based upon his body of work and there depth chart.
