Hello my Brethren.
After the nights sleep and as much as I want to blast the whole event for making a mockery of the game which made FFA arcade, I will not be so brutal. First off, FFA is a 3rd Strike arcade, the mecca of American 3rd Strike, the Annex of Japan, the home of the Denjin Hadou, and it is unfortunate that it and all its players had to wait in the cold outside until I donât even know when to play its last tourney and never even get a chance. It is also unfortunate that the organizers of this tourney decided to run its most popular games: SF4, MvC3, Personna 4, every other game ever made and all those games the prime time spots when people actually watch streams and leave 3rd Strike for like 2am, and 5am EST time. I just want to say that, you know, theyâve only been running tournaments for like a few years and they havenât figured out that no tourney ever goes by schedule and starts on time. Thanks
Anyway, my father Ray Ramos said to me after I was about to throw a beer bottle at some faggots that, shit happens, donât cry over spilled milk. After that, I started to think about what this was more about. Most of the players that got to play last night, for SF4 and MvC3 probably have never even been to FFA, nor are they the work force that put all the money into the arcade for the last 10 years, pumping money to lose to 5 Star on the 3rd Strike machine. But the love of this game, and the love they showed for the place that kept 3rd Strike alive, yes this place truly kept 3rd Strike alive, is something more important to look at.
Only 38 entries for SF4, 40 for MvC3, putrid numbers for such a big game, but 3rd Strike 3on3 teams had 21! teams of 3! The most entries, while all waiting outside in the snow. Sixty dedicated players came to pay there respects to the greatest fighting game, Arcade 3rd Strike but were unable to play in one of the sickest brackets ever put together.
Team Arcade Sado Strike Only consisting of 5 Star and Pyrolee only were ready to defend there title of FFA bosses, against newcomers like D2R (Metric, Hans Solo, Showtime) and mainstays like Chino 3:16 (MattxChin, Bean, and Pherai) were ready to stomp and stunner and drink beer all the competition. Players who hadnât entered a 3rd Strike tourney and I hadnât seen in a long time were also ready to go such as Team Ken I (Edma, Gootecks, Rockefeller) and Team Bears (Amir, Thomas, Happytangalang). Players that showed up from out of town just to pay there respects to from out of town came, Team SDeez Nutz (Louie Zamora, Neil Meza, Abom) and Team Scary White Boys which included Ty Mitchell who came from Arizona. And of course, all the FFA generals players who still show up every Friday to play. The legend of 4y3paragaon, was ready to descend from the heavens in a cloud of Marijuana smoke to play the winning team. I know Iâm not mentioning all the players right now, but I hope we still have the brackets and maybe I can post a picture of the bracket and everyone in it.
Lastly, I just want to say this. If all the players that showed up, were able to wait in the cold for hours and not play a single game, it shows that we donât need Levelup, we donât need some stream to make something like this happen again. Letâs make an effort to give FFA 3rd Strike the proper send off that it deserves. Please to everybody that came to this disaster, please come again this Friday and play with us and letâs make this tourney happen. This was supposed to be the last tourney I ever run in America, so I went ahead and did the signups and made the bracket with Chino, but we can do one more before itâs all said and done. And as a leader of this community, I want to personally apologize to every player for making such a sick bracket and getting all your hopes up, only to not be able to play.
We will make this happen. Last night we were all about to gather and enjoy each others company, chatting, catching up, playing hacky sack like faggots. 3rd Strike is more than just about winning or losing. FFA is more than just about 3rd Strike. This place has become a place where Iâve met some of my closest friends today. Lets see it more as one more opportunity to all gather together at a place we all grew up together and play the game we all love. And for me to beat all your asses one more time.
Yeah, I didnât quite get why SF4 and MVC3 were on stream for so long. I get ST because they had Tomo and a bunch of the real old school guys there. But did seriously no one look at the tourney scheduled for 3S? Just makes no sense because it was nothing but casuals up until Marvel and even then it was nothing special.

I selected Akuma on the far cab and the screen stayed broke, but if its only on my side that - isnât that cool a secret code HAX the whole shit so I canât see shit. People think FFA is gone today and for their games it kinda is, so itâs good to know more 3s will happen. I asked about the real closing date and may have a chance to attend more Generals but probably not the Tournament next week unless I forgo buying presents or rideshare with someone from NorCal who is going.
The only thing that actually died down there was my Jordan 9 Olives, had a pherai xmas color flannel to match it and everything.

Also whatâs this âpigâ sausage stuff going on, as someone who didnât watch the stream, and was also down there hearing word of planning perhaps one more big event to close the chapter on this arcade, and appreciate what he did up and down on this 24 hour thing and if it wasnât under his control - it wasnât under his control how it played out. Its less about that whatever finding the fall guy after the fact now than it is just having to get to actually play 3s @ FFA.
