On a serious note. I do somewhat get the mom’s point that it should be the girls parents who need to step in and discipline them. This is pretty traumatic stuff. I think some people are thinking along the perspective of it being an older teenage boy or some kind of coerced prank but this was a random event and from the look of the video, very traumatizing. The fact that this was posted on Youtube means everyone in his neighborhood pretty much knows who this boy is and they will never let this down for years.
They should’ve gotten misdemeanor charges or worse- like a group of 8th grade boys would have if they had sexually assaulted an 11 yo girl.

If a similar incident like this happened in the 90s or 80s, it would still be difficult, but this the type of story a victim could repress or move beyond. But in this age where everything that can be explicitly shown usually is, it carries even more of an emotional weight for the victim; because footage like these act as a timestamp of a horrible event they will have to carry for the rest of their lives and spread to millions of other people, not just a single community.
So yeah, IMO, it’s a very big deal.

Eh, shit hasn’t changed. I got pantsed by a bunch of other girls back in like 7th grade in front of about 1/3 of the entire school at lunch. Most humiliating event in my life. Sure, I was used to getting fucked with on a daily basis since I seemed to be everyone’s favorite target, but that was when it became too much. People laughing, whistling, etc. It was awful. Then after I tried to recover, that bimbo came over and did it again because once just isn’t enough. I was used to crying at school cause of shit like this on a daily basis. In fact I spent more time in the counselor’s office crying my eyes out instead of being in class, but I couldn’t stop this time. I just snapped. Got to class and she has the nerve to try apologizing to me so I attacked her; scratched her face up, kicked her in the jaw, and started stomping that waste of flesh and blood until I got taken by security. Witnesses from lunch told security and the principal why I flipped the fuck out but they didn’t care. In fact, they laughed. They LAUGHED at me for having my fucking underwear exposed to 1/3 the student body(about 600 students, easy). They said it was just harmless fun or that she probably only did it cause she wanted to be my friend. What the fuck is that?! Bullshit! Male or female, punishment is demanded. Justice for all, or for some? Fuck that.

Ok, I haven’t read the responses here, but I’d like to bring up a point, what about the media? Why the fuck is this a news story? You know why? For ratings. They are basically making a huge deal out of this and putting this kid through it constantly, along with introducing huge numbers of people to his humiliation for ratings. Yeah, we can talk about how if the genders were switched, there would be a national outcry and I agree, that’s BS, but it’s also BS that media exploits situations like this for their own ratings.
