You EEEEEdiot.
Back on topic, guys. Discuss the patch or save it for the OTT.
So… What exactly is this scea thing we’re waiting for?
sony computer enertainment of america (scea)
sony computer entertainment of europe (scee)
Sony Computer Entertainment America, and we’re not waiting on them, because it passed with them. We’re waiting on Microsoft and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) to approve of the patch, and then it goes forward from there.
Best case scenario, I’m thinking two to three weeks before we see the patch go live.
How did you come up with that estimate?
It’s an educated guess that I’m making based on MS Certification policies, along with several examples of games with patches having to pass certification, such as SFxT, UMvC3, MvC3, and many more.
I wonder how long after the patch release additional work, whether that be on pc port, colors, characters, or anything else will begin?
Being both optimistic and pessimistic, I’d say future content will be contingent on sales of dlc colors + unannounched merchandise. Realistically, that would mean waiting until the start of the next fiscal quarter. Could happen sooner or might not happen at all. Who knows?
I’m wondering if psn players will move to ranked or stick to player matches. The prospect of playing a bunch of different people in a play session is nice, but I really enjoy playing extended sets. Not to mention ranked being blind pick and how easy it is to get caught off-guard by an unconventional assist. I’ll probably do a bit of both.
The topic about this “SCEA, SCEE, Microsoft waiting” is too crazy for me, on PC we dont have these problems, well only when the publisher is so bad.
Ask this question again when the patch is out. Please.
Will you be able to talk in more detail about the approval process once the patch is out? I want all the gossip.
im really glad they didnt do the whole tier thing on the xbox version. i know this was a big problem on vanilla sf4 when it first came out. people getting themselves to the highest tier and then having no one to play against. just go on ranked until you get matched with someone good and then request an extended set from them. i think unless you play peacock most people would take you up on it.
i would love a skullgirls shirt (perhaps an orange one with a black silhouette or outline of bella or something) but the store doesnt deliver to canananada. may have to look into perhaps getting one made somewhere somehow. would i need permission from reverge to use their artwork on a custom tshirt? id still want to support the developers somehow too. royalty fee maybe?
The approval process? That’s literally “Fill out form and send game to MS/Sony. Wait.” There’s other stuff to talk about though, yes.
Re: tiers in ranked - we didn’t do it on XBox because MS does ranked matchmaking for you on XBox, you give them your skill and say “find me a person”. Behind the scenes their server has access to everyone who is online and they’re all in one big “room” so it can pick from everyone available. On PS3 we had to write it all ourselves, and server queries have to be a small number of players, plus making queries takes a long time, so tiers is an easy solution.
Are you saying that because you’re tired of people asking, or is it because the answer is actually pretty interesting, but shouldn’t be revealed atm?
Knowing Mike – Flip a coin. Either answer is correct.
I dunno if “interesting” is the right word, but it’s the 2nd one.
I’m predicting the post-patch SG dirt will be front page worthy. Nothing sells like scandal!
Perhaps the revival of Whiteboard Wednesdays or an official SG forum!
…my real hopes are a lot higher, but I think those two things are reasonable guesses
Whiteboard Wednesdays coming back would be ridiculously good news as it would indicate that they actually have an art team that’s actually continuing to develop content for the game. Your real hopes really couldn’t get much higher than that.
