Coming straight from mikes mouth though stated in dime fashion with a couple of add ons:
The buer cancel was a damage buff so painwheel needed a damage nerf to compensate.
The j.mk no longer comboing from st.hp or cr.hp is a link nerf as pw had more combo sections on average (thus longer combos) than other characters.
Though i see not what that has to do with the price of tea in china… Mike wants the game to have shorter combos in general and be more reset based/use meter on inopportune hitconfirms… Which i agree with as it should mean a more robust neutral and perhaps less corner rape than what is currently the norm… Corner rape is boring on either side for me… Or atleast its become that way with the current lack of prolonged neutral
this is gonna be odd, i liked painwheel cause she kinda has that “hoppy” combo kinda like magnetos mvc2 infinite. But whatever, i often like entire characters cause i like how their lk looks or some shit like that. Entire reason I like mvc2 mags is cause his air. hk and air. mp look fucking awesome.
I couldn’t get j.LK->MK. You get LP or LK after s.HP, c.HP or F+HK. You get OTG j.MK after c.HP and F+HK. c.HP, fly, whiff D+HK, s.LP is gone. So she still has the hop combo, it’s just shorter. You can still do other things like use s.MP /\ j. MK fly MK land, or s.HP xx QCT+LP fly MK…
Mike, you forgot the parts (unless they weren’t changed?) where Fortune’s chained j.HK will always force the head to OTG (though unchained it can prevent an OTG still), and where the third rekka or slide followup will force the head to always OTG.
PS3 has to wait for both SCEA and SCEE, yes. Otherwise some people would have it and some wouldn’t, and those without it wouldn’t be able to play online at all since it would tell them to go download the patch.
And GRR, I wish people would tell me when it’s okay to talk about things…
