(11/20 PSN!) SG: Slightly Different Edition patch notes

The Mayan’s apocalyptic prediction. It’s been swell.

Lol… The fuk does that even mean…stupid microsoft. 1+1 doesnt equal 2?

If it fits the parameters theyve set as being acceptable, then there is nothing to approve via committee…
The only reason to go committee would be to try and DISAPPROVE of something.

“Hey this patch is totally within the guidelines, we just have to run it by the committee to make sure its totally within the guidelines… But it is within the guidelines, just gotta go to the committee to make sure that it is, though we the committee already know that it is… Things totally work better this way, trust us”

:wtf:

If you’ll excuse me I’m just going to go strangle some orphans right now.
Holy fucking console gaming christ on a bicycle. FUCK.

Must be nice watching your niche (translation: good) game get killed off by stupid shit like this. I love this industry.

This is now one of my favorite quotes

If it were possible to do true teams with human players each controlling a single character, how would you implement it?

Would it be the point character in total control and can call assists and tag out whenever he feels like or would it be the partner person has to hit the command to use the assist and tag out? Or maybe something else?

MK9 actually pulled off the multiplayer tag team in a successful fashion: player tags the other player in and is inactive until tagged back in, or when teammate is defeated.

I am not sure about teams of 3v3 or 3v2, but any other combo (3v1, 2v2, etc) could be done.

I was thinking a good way to do it would be the point character can choose when and whom to tag out to, but in order to use assists, the off-point player would have to call it in, or better yet, let the off-point character perform any ground move and that will come out as the assist, but that might have technical limitations.

It would certainly make multi-player teams much more dynamic and actually feel like a team where each player is helping the other, but it might be too much for balance. lol

I already buy my Ps3 super slim and SG its my first game , im just waiting for my PS360+ Board.!

Finally got around to playing the patch, and I love the changes/additions for the most part, but the analog stick for assists feature is kinda broken when playing peacock. Up/down on the analog stick defaults to inputting MK+HP (rather than just telling the game to do the assist directly), meaning it doesn’t work while charging HP item drop. I assume left/right would overlap the same way with either LP or MP item drop depending on which input it uses.

Left/right do nothing when playing a team of two, despite being able to call your assist with both 2nd and 3rd in line inputs manually, so you can’t get around it that way either in a 2 man peacock team.

I’m not sure if this is something that could really be fixed, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Mike, you going to FFA today? We want to see Team Z and SA3 Makoto

That’s not broken. It’s working exactly as intended.

Assist calls in this game aren’t additional buttons. They’re button combinations, so the assist buttons are button macros that act as if you were pressing the two buttons required for the assist call.

So since you can’t hit MK+HP assist when holding an HP item drop, then you can’t do it with a button macro or the stick

Now, the left/right not doing anything in a team of two may be worth mentioning.

GG’s D-3-1, I think I got that right.

I needed a writeup for the Valentine/Bella matchup

Actually, the dude has a point. Mk + Hp calls assist 2 but so does mp+hk. So if you were a Peacock player with flexible fingers you could charge an hp item drop and call assist 2 with mp+hk. However since up down defaults to mk+Hp it won’t let it happen even though it should be doable.

I understand that. My point is that they can probably get around it, and simply have the analog stick tell the game to call assists directly, rather than inputting button combinations.

You can input assist 2 as either MK+HP or MP+HK, so you can absolutely do it with a stick, or by using a separate button macro on pad (which is what I’ve been doing since day 1, and it sucks). The analog stick as assist feature however only uses MK+HP, and cannot be changed.

Allowing left/right to work as assist 1 in a team of 2 would be nice, and fixes the problem… for teams of 2. The issue would still be there for 3 player peacock teams.

Here’s an interesting note: If you snap an opposing character, then they get hit again before getting offscreen, they remain the point character.

This happened to me when I caught two characters in a cerecopter assister, decided I didn’t want to mess with comboing them before the double-snap, and went for it while cerecopter was still going… And the double-snap didn’t happen. Oops.

I’ve managed to reproduce this with all kinds of assists in the training room, but really, it’s easy to avoid - you just have to know about it.

Sadly I knew about this from the many times I’ve snapped people with HP+HK and Fortune’s head activates and hits them out of it.

Yeah…

And you can also call an assist with LP+HK and LK+HP. Which was done specifically so people with pads could call both assists without using macros or analog sticks.

Well right. My point is there’s no real reason to lock out the assist if it doesn’t need to be. There’s plenty of ways around it. Just a weird interaction nonetheless.
