You’re right hatz perhaps on the surface it doesn’t look bad but if you read through the thread you’d probably realize that you’re wrong.

As for your other part of the post, I totally agree with that. I think it means more to salute the flag out of choice, it means nothing to do it because you are forced to. Either way I don’t think it has any bearing on respect for troops, etc. It’s the same discussion that gets brought up with the war. You can be against the war but support the troops/have a respect for them.

Bottom line, you should have the freedom to stand or not. WITH that said, fucking stand your stupid ass up. It’s pledge allegiance to the flag and country, not our government. I’m not a fan of our government, but you know what…I still have mad respect for our country and our military.

I’m in the military. Multiple times have people come up to me and shook my hand for serving. Each time, I say thank you, but you should be shaking hands with someone else. I haven’t done much to deserve this.

If you can’t decipher my point, it’s called being fuckin humble. Humble yourself before this country and the others that came before you defending it.

Decide on their own that they don’t agree with it.

Its also imo less racist to have a country like china have national unity through race as opposed to americas national unity through respect. because what people dont realize about multicultural countries is that inevitably the cultures inside the country that is “not prejudiced” will become caricatures of how their homeland does their customs and beliefs.

friend of mine told me it would take a few generations before sikh families here in canada would be more accepting of non sikhs or non browns, its kindof a race and religion barrier here sometimes. but i was thinking how thats great it also means their culture would have to weaken. killing racism or isms by way of passiveness doesnt even prove that the descendants are any more learned or evolved. youre just replacing the “prejudiced” meme with “i forgot how to be as prejudiced” meme. theres no active decision for the pacification so its meaningless to call it a victory in the future when we all get along better.
