So i wish i could read through all this thread, but i got bored at about post 50. I repped evo and some other kid in red and sent them about 15 bars into the green. Grey i see now why you sent evo into the neg thread. Couldn’t quite figure it out from his post…cuz there was nothing wrong with it. It’s become quite apparent you are butthurt. Evo from what I have seen has been respectful in the matter, and even offered to continue in PM format. That means he wants to discuss it maturely, not argue mindlessly like a fuckin tool.

Bottom line, you should have the freedom to stand or not. WITH that said, fucking stand your stupid ass up. It’s pledge allegiance to the flag and country, not our government. I’m not a fan of our government, but you know what…I still have mad respect for our country and our military.

I’m in the military. Multiple times have people come up to me and shook my hand for serving. Each time, I say thank you, but you should be shaking hands with someone else. I haven’t done much to deserve this.

If you can’t decipher my point, it’s called being fuckin humble. Humble yourself before this country and the others that came before you defending it.

I remember in high school they started doing the pledge every monday and you had the option to stand. I kid you not when I say I was the only one in a few of my classes of 20-30 people that stood and placed my hand on my heart. It disgusts me. You got a problem with giving a few seconds of respect to the great country you live in, go fuckin live somewhere else.

You’re right hatz perhaps on the surface it doesn’t look bad but if you read through the thread you’d probably realize that you’re wrong.

As for your other part of the post, I totally agree with that. I think it means more to salute the flag out of choice, it means nothing to do it because you are forced to. Either way I don’t think it has any bearing on respect for troops, etc. It’s the same discussion that gets brought up with the war. You can be against the war but support the troops/have a respect for them.

IMO the kid is worthy of praise more for the almost unheard of level of intelligence that he displayed. I doubt anyone here at age 10, had the intellectual prowess to

  1. Be able to disect the pledge of allegiance
  2. Actually bother to think about the concept of a pledge and why we say it.
  3. Decide on their own that they don’t agree with it.

That is the stunning thing. Most 10 year olds are only interested in toys. How many 10 year olds do u know already know that they want to practice law?

Its also imo less racist to have a country like china have national unity through race as opposed to americas national unity through respect. because what people dont realize about multicultural countries is that inevitably the cultures inside the country that is “not prejudiced” will become caricatures of how their homeland does their customs and beliefs.
