I also say that you should plink everythingggg. For every fierce/roundhouse, I do hp~mp~lp (or kicks). Every strong/forward, mp~lp.
I even plink demon flip dive kicks for funsies. Plinking only helps your chance to get combos, so why not do it?
And back on topic, close standing lp to crouching hp is also 1-frame. Just look at frame data and if frame advantage on hit is equal to startup frames of another move, then it’s a 1-frame link. Counter hit jabs/shorts give +1 to frame advantage. Command normals, medium and hard normals, and special moves give +3 to frame advantage, iirc. There might be exceptions to some specific command normals and special moves.
Also, I just was experimenting with some stupid combos a few days ago and found this cool one. I forgot against what character (I think Balrog? Maybe others also.), you can do like:
cr. lk, close standing lk, far standing lk (hits meaty), cr. mk xx HK tatsu
It was somethinggg like that. But yeah, that meaty far standing lk to cr. mk is a 1-framer as well.
Though that is my preference. I really don’t like plinking myself, but Richard is right that if you feel comfortable plinking any link then do it. But the moves I say you have to plink because you can’t afford to screw them up is links into s.HP and c.HK. Those are links I find you can not miss if you can make them.
Yeah of course plinking everything would be ideal but there are certain combos/links that have very strict linking. I just figured I’d ask the more experienced people what they find to be absolutely necessary to plink since I’m still just generally working on the timing for anything.
Also I want to just say thank you to everyone that has responded. I didn’t expect to get so many answers, and you’ve all really helped me out a lot.
